The writer brought up a good point... the Eagles had exit interviews with all the players.   They got to hear the true feelings.

Rosie loves Gannon. Part of why he hired Siri. But there was also the impending fact of the difficulty of finding a DC. Had to settle for Desai. Fangio broke the bank for a coordinator already.

After the SB Rosie offered a huge pay raise to Gannon

Gannon did well, except for 30 minutes of the last game we played assisted by bad calls by Siri lol

Sanders was the most overrated player on the Eagles in 2022.

Might have been Slay I’d say

Slay started off great. But wasn’t great the second half of the season. Got paid huge money. While Sanders was cheap and put up huge rushing numbers.

He did seem to run out of gas late

Contract years do that LOL

Then he tried everything to keep Gannon.

Did he though?  The time frame and details have been confirmed? Or just Gannon saying these things?

Daughter did a TV commercial for her company. A star is born. She will LMK when it airs

I'm good not seeing either play for the Eagles next year.

Would anyone wager that Sanders gets another 1000 yard season?   I would say he doesn't.

That's great.  We shall see how he does on another team.

CGJ complained about Gannon not putting players in positions to make plays in the SB. I believe that’s a fair point. Another fair point to consider is that Gannon put CGJ in very good position to make plays the rest of the season. A very S friendly scheme.

Then what happened when CGJ was out?    Was is really scheme?   Hmm?

I'll pay CGJ.

I'm a big believer in cause and effect.  I believe there are people driving the bus and people along for the ride.

I believe there are impact players and guys who just get stats but don't really help their team win.

I'll pay the guys who I think help my team win.  I will let guts walk if I believe they were not really impactful. Age matters, how much longer I think they can be impact players.

I'm ok letting Slay go... Sanders for sure, he is the one I believe was truly along for the ride and I can't see how anyone who watched the Eagles score over 100 points in 3 playoff games with more impact from Gainwell doesn't see it?

The decision to pay a guy should be based on how many games you think he will help you win.  Right now, CGJ is the impending free agent that I believe would help the Eagles win the most games in the future....above any replacement.

Blankenship played well…undrafted.

Seems to me your point was more Gainwell was along for the ride. Says plenty it took him so long just to decide to get on the bus.

Deciding who to pay depends on the amount versus impact versus big team picture. Most fans would prefer a 18 mil player over a 8 mil player. Just fairly obvious. Salary cap makes that not realistically possible to always do. In fact, Rosie talked to a top FA Safety. But hit a ceiling with the amount willing to pay….so he never became an Eagles.

You could sign three starting players for 7 mil each. Or one starter for 19. Two extra mil gets you two more starters. There is room for this logic also.

  • Author

You could sign the cheaper starters and draft the much more expensive guy position …I don’t know…say late first round….you might have heard this thought somewhere before(hint:last draft).

Now also remember the highest paid player being lost in FA gains you the best comp pick. Possibly end of the third round.

And how did the team and specifically the defense do?  While CGJ was out?
