Why can't they trade back a bit and get both???? As far as team success,yes it takes a team to win. If you can get the top RB for 5 years why not take him? Doesn't mean you're going to the SB,depends on your FO and getting other correct players,but if you can shore up one position for4-5 years,I would certainly do it(you know like we did with Sanders). Then you let him go for a comp pick,Rinse/repeat

But what is the point?  The 5th year option for a RB loses its value.   How many RBs do you need to invest in?  You swap Montgomery for Eckler and move on....that's enough.   You then draft your stud at 9.  Either lineman or the corner...which of your argument is 5 years of control....you want that with those positions not RB.   

It's a fixed salary regardless of position....so why lock in a cheaper position?

Why not get the RB AND a round 1 lineman? It's a 2 for 1 deal,stupid not to take that. Just like I hope to do with our 10 pick. Eckler may not even do as well as Montgomery behind that crap O line,so why pay money(ANY amount) until you get that done? Like I said I'll take the RB and a round 1 O linemen. No brainer 2 fer

???? Is Richardson the RB that is supposed to go first?   If so...how do you get him and a 1st round lineman?  I'm not following...what would be the trade back in that scenario?

https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/big-boards/2023/consensus-big-board-2023?pos=ALL  Based on this,they could trade back and get Skoronski and another pick. Take RB Gibbs or RB3 whatever. Now you have 2 players locked for 4 years and you didn't spend any money.

So for the Bears... sign Eckler and draft your lineman at 9.   Vs what?   Get a worse lineman and then get a mid to late 2nd round RB?

Wouldn't you prefer the better player at both positions instead?

The Bears have money.  They have Fields...wouldn't you think they would want to put the better players around him?

I don't get this thing " control for 4 years" for some reason it seems you only look at controlling a RB for 4 years?    Why you only seem to bring up 4 or 5 year control when it comes to RB?
