The pass D hasn't been great. Let's not get carried away with stats and rankings. This team has played... A bad offense in the WFT, they were wooped by a decent Rams offense, they did well against a battered SF and then were toasted in the next 2 games against good offenses.

Washington didn’t score until we kept turning the ball over giving them short fields and the D was gassed. Rams O is actually one of the better units in the nfl with tons of weapons. And SF did nothing Kittle had couple great catches which you expect from a great player coverage on him was solid most of the game though.

Big Ben tossed for 239 not exactly torching us yes made the throws that needed to be made but wasn’t torched

Lamar 186 yards passing under 60% completion his damage came with the legs.

But as I stated from the start the pass D is alright not great but won’t kill us in my eyes either. Especially with our pass rush those two together should be fine.

The issue is stopping the odd ball runs we can take RBs out of the game that is fact RBs against us have avg. some like 3.6 yards a carry the issues have been QBs running, Jet sweeps WRs/TE runs

I don't think it's a matter of JP being better at LT, it's that a tackle combo of Mailata and Peters is better than one of Mailata and Pryor. Once Lane is healthy, I think Peters gets moved to guard, unless Mailata struggles this week.

I think that 100% goes into the starting best 5 OL.

Yup, if Peters plays well and Mailata struggles, he should keep his job. But if they both play well, then both have to be on the field.

Perhaps but I'd rather they didn't take away snaps from Mailata at LT. Stick JP at RT if we have to.

I'm with you on this,we signed JP as a ROG anyhow

Having a semi healthy OL would help I agree. In fact it would really help. Even if we just had Lane and Seumalo healthy it would help give Wentz better protection.

Having Alshon and Desean back? To me that doesn't move the needle and to be honest I don't want either back. They are old and they are done.

But the issues with this team are also beyond that. This is an ageing team and the secondary is pretty darn horrible. And those things can't be fixed with getting players back and healthy.

Which is why I don't think they would be legit contenders... but far from being a bad team.

I thought we would go for Griffen ourselves lol.Our secondary has never been great as of late, and our LB's haven't either, but our defense was based on a DOMINANT(not just good but dominant) pass rush which we are lacking. And they expose the weakness at CB and LB.Most of the players we let go seem to be doing fine in their new homes and this bother me ALOT. It's one thing to let aging players go when the gas starts running out. It's another to let players walk because you can't coach them and see them succeed elsewhere

Douglas sounds like he is playing as a #1 CB with his new team as is Sydney Jones...they're both healthy ...just couldn't do it here, not good enough.?

You seem all over the place you said secondary now you are on run D man. This D is avg. at best I agree but this O can but top notch when healthy.

So at this point I’m just saying let’s play the season out I think our O can have us compete with just about any team

Excited about the young kids,  They need to keep them developing with Wentz. Where is the Creativity Doug promised when Hurts was our 2nd pick ? The kids are competing now...What other teams put 28 on Pittsburg and 29 on BMore those are Top D teams and this MASH unit was there battling to the end. JP's age was showing at LT before he got hurt....Love the guy but Father Time catches up with all pros.

Eagles offensive line at practice today Jason Peters is at left tackle Jordan Mailata is it right tackle Jason Peters has a good chance of returning Sunday night

One of my issues with Peedy.... Is being loyal to some players ... to a fault. I guess that is how you get the Players Coach title. Is Lane going to be in and out of the lineup as he was couple games ago? Maybe Wentz has more confidence in an albeit aged ALL world LT VS a rugby player turned LT?  We're paying Peters lots of incentive money to play LT? It still sucks for Mailata, a player that has only just started to learn this game. It's asking a lot....long term? For Mialata... versatility pays.  We shall see how this New OL holds up against them Stinking Cow &hi!ch?@.

I don’t think it’s loyalty to JP or players thinking Doug is thinking same with Stout what’s the best way to keep my QB protected.

Fact is thinking they believe JP/Mailata is way better then possibly Mailata/Pryor.

Mailata is also the best option at RT(with Lane hurt and shouldn’t play)as well was working there in the off-season makes way more sense to move him rather then try and get JP to play there who has always played the left

2 hours ago, Bleedinggreen93 said:

And we likely get Wentz killed JP has played the left side his entire career the footwork completely different just throwing him over there isn’t a recipe for success.

Not a fan of moving Mailata either but he has played RT for us practiced there during the off-seasons got reps etc.

And having JP at LT gives Wentz good protection?

I believe it gives him better protection the duo of JP/Mailata then Mailata/Pryor yes

Washington has no offense, they still put up points on us. You also therefore counter your own argument because as you say we gave them short fields so they couldn't put up big yardage in the game really.

SF were a team with more injuries than us. Kittle absolutely torched us. We were just grateful that their QB gifted us a pick six and then another turnover.

Exactly so keep him there. Or play him at RT if we absolutely have to. I'm not down with JP taking snaps from Mailata at LT at all.

Lmao yet that same SF team dominated teams before and after us and no they were not dealing with more injured just a bogus claim.

And Washington they didn’t even get close to score when they started on there side of the field they never scored not once when they started on there side so they weren’t moving the ball on us until the O started gifting them field position so no I didn’t counter myself I watched the games

Have you seen their injury list? They had more key players out that week than we did.

So our defense is susceptible to teams who start drives in our half of the field? But it's fine if they start in their own half? So that makes it OK then?

And you did counter yourself because one of your points wasn't about how we aren't giving up a lot of yards. Hard to give up lots of yards when their offense is starting in our half though. That helps the yards allowed stat.

Have you seen our injury list lmao.... No our defense is susceptible to getting worn out when the O keeps turning the ball over

Yeah I have thanks. Its not great but s lot of those players aren't key players.

Lmao so our entire OL basically isn’t key injuries???? WRs aren’t key injuries???? Wentz was throwing to guys he never played with or had extremely limited snaps

But SF was way more decimated then us because they didn’t have a Rb and a QB that rarely threw for them anyway oh

You can't say that the 49ers gifted us points and then ignore the fact that we gifted the WFT points when our qb made the same mistakes.

On an unrelated note, Nate Gerry didn't practice today! I hate cheering for injuries, but in this case I will make an exception.

Agreed the best five has to be out there. Little dumbfounded by the decline in Pryor, early on I imagined the Mialata/ Pryor twin towers mashing D Lines into submission. I agree right now with Driscoll still injured, Pryor underperforming, or JP on the right side certainly  makes the least sense.

My primary issue is I would prefer Mailata to continue to grow into the LT position but Dillard was drafted for that spot Mailata might have to go to another team to hold that LT spot.

Some thoughts on the injuries.

Craig James should probably just go to IR. With Ford, Maddox and Wallace back we have a crowded secondary, and he hasn't done anything to move up the depth chart.

It will be interesting to see what happens at LB with Gerry not practicing.

I want to see more Huntley this week with Miles out. He showed some burst in the last game.

Malik Jackson practicing is a good sign. They probably don't have to add a fourth DT since they can probably get away with calling up Williams a few times.

Is miles confirmed to be out yet???? I would still like to see more Huntley regardless I mentioned his burst when I got a chance to see him vs NY

My guess he will still play and start not sign the ankle is serious so probably just resting it. And doubt Schwartz will make a change.

Again though of Dunicco or whatever is the starter I’d dare Dallas to throw it and go 3 LBs and stack the box.... Man up with CBs(Maddox/Slay) and S

So Pryor I don’t think he declined really he is just a RG trying him everywhere else is hurting him. Also not sure he is much more then a backup which isn’t a terrible thing having a good backup is always needed.

As for Mailata honestly can you play T is all I care about if he can swing just makes him more valuable in my eyes. As I stated numerous times next season he is my penciled in starter let him compete with Dillard and the best man wins. Worst cases Mailata is a swing backup(Dillard won) or trade Dillard recoup some type of pick(if Dillard is equallish as good could possibly recoup a 2nd)

If teams felt JP was a "hot commodity" at LOT why did noone pick him up off the wire? That would indicate to me that JP's time at LT has PASSED,unless of course you are the Eagles and play him there when noone else would take him even as a BU.So telling me JP should play LT is redundant in my view.if he can't play ROG ,WHY did we sign him at ROG??? Sorry, this is the definition of stupid to me.You have 2 viable young guys who need experience snaps in a year you may not make the playoffs, yet you pound the old guy because he pulled the wool over your eyes when you were on desperation blvd? If he can't play ROG,we had no business signing him AT ALL.BTW we only found out Mailata  COULD play LOT after he was the only guy left we had,so now you want to insult his(Mailatas) hard work, dedication to learning his craft and who is the FUTURE because "well this guy was there before you(JP)". I hope Mailata walks and becomes a pro bowler with another team because thats what we DESERVE!!!! Can't fix stupid
