Yeah a trade off,but now we need to keep him upright for 5 years and he needs to take less risk now IMO. That's why keeping him in weaponry will be important

We have never had this before.   Locking in a QB ...with weapons already around him.  Nice to see.

You shouldn't put your QB in position to fail and need him to be a savior.   The QB should be looking to take the good talent around him all the way.   Hurts gets that opportunity... .McNabb, Wentz, Vick,  Randall... didn't have it.

We all figured around 50. They went with an extra mil. I'm fine with that. In 2-3 years this contract will be cheap. Not happy with the no trade clause, but onward we go

It's 6 years though.  He gets $23 mil of the money now.

1-10 move back a little and still get Van Ness. Use the acquired pick to move up a little for Flowers. Now you have a corps of receivers(maybe the top in the league as a group of 4) for the next 3 years

Yeah, his bank account is just fine lol

Why you worried about no trade clause... reality is it doesn't mean much at all.

There are other slot guys maybe in round 2-3 we could get. may still be better than Quez, but the top slot is Flowers and it's not close

It does in AZ lol

I know, but then you have like AZ with Murray, they have to keep him even if he's not playing

Not really...they can cut him in a few years.   Once you sign someone...the first 2 or 3 years are kinda where the dead money to trade or cut is the issue.    The trade issue comes toward the end of the contract.  But let's be honest... it's not going to effect anything.

Will toss this out there. We met with Marvin Mims. He is listed as an outside, but if you look at his height and weight,he could easily be a slot guy,so there's that

Yeah mostly outside and as I said he can play slot if you asked him too. Most WR's can play the slot, but you are wasting his outside talent and he would need to be your first pick

I thought the same thing...the OSU WR is a slot guy who could play outside.

OK your the contract guy.so I will take your word, but they have a debacle in AZ going on

He plays out or X most times, but he can play the slot. He is versatile, but making him only a slot, limits his talents IMO

So if you like him and Smith can play slot, then they can interchange. Also if you want Njigba he has to be pick 1 and you may need to move up for him,so I was looking at guys we didnt have to move up for

Not at the moment though... they won't trade Murray because of dead money.  But in reality the no trade clause means the player will reject going to certain teams.   The player still gets paid during his guaranteed years...which Murray is still under.

So in your Murray example... it might come into play in 2 or 3 years... not yet though.

Smith-Njigba, who has been nursing a hamstring injury since the first half of OSU’s opener against Notre Dame, has been lined up in the slot 79.1% of his career offensive plays for the Buckeyes, per Pro Football Focus.

IDK if he will start this year, but they have to pay him,so IDK what all that means. I'm not a contract savvy guy

I would pick him... I would move AJ and Smith into the slot on some plays...this kid could play outside on those plays or when they come out.

More versatility for the offense

That's what I've been seeing too.

News to me,I see him at X,but if thats the case then I am wrong. However he still would have to be your first pick

Right.but has nothing to do with no trade clause

No trade clause had to be conceded in such a team friendly deal. Not sure if everybody here understands what all is so team friendly about this contract. The huge part is the length. The longer the contract the better for the team. A five year extension is a huge win for the team.

The question is do you want to give up a top edge guy? I mean there is discussion either way and we have had many in to talk to privately,so it's one or the other

Yeah... I'm saying invest thst pick to help your QB. I've been saying that for a while...the idea should be to show him your investment in getting him help.

The main outside guy at OSU is Marvin Harrison jr

The no trade clause is for show...doesn't mean anything.
