Is that pay from OSU?   If not , then why bring it up with the idea of specifically making it seem like OSU guys are doing something wrong?

No,they passed a law that they can make money from using their likeness(aka pictures) and endorsement deals. That pay doesn't come from OSU,but you know when you turn pro all that dries up as well as that big money from socks,so it's a draft day travesty

1 guy 40 years ago translates into "all" OSU players. You know like Philly had bad fans because someone threw a snowball at Santa

"All USC players are high and beach bums"(because I saw one guy once in 1967)

OSU program has always been getting tons of benefits. Never known as the strong character football program. For so many reasons. Football is god at that school. So it’s hilarious to have somebody be such a supporter of that program and actually try to preach against small infractions that other students are guilty of. But now that 2.4 mil that the college guy makes paying…I mean playing at OSU is legal. So it’s finally above board. College QB making more than our ‘Pro QB.’ Something very out of whack with this if you ask me.

Never been a fan of the Buckeyes. Shady recruiting and beyond the law program for my whole life I can remember. That’s not even getting into what really has gotten under my skin about them. That’s how so many seasons they pad up their schedule with super cupcake teams…that only games can be played in Columbus, Ohio. So many seasons have gone by where they only have like one or two games that were even a real competitive matchup. Michigan and maybe Wisconsin. Coasting through living on their five star paid recruits. Win their one game a season to advance to the Big Ten Championship game. Practically just gifted their lofty ranking based on paper numbers. Not many real educated quality people have come out of this program. Mostly massively overrated team and players. Pump up numbers beating up Appalachian State, Akron and Youngstown South Community College.

USC is becoming a force. Hurts old coach is the real deal. Even brought in the Cards exHC to coach QBs. USC has really rode on all their money to pay top recruits so much also. So many talented guys that underachieve.

So...you don't think Hurts made any money in addition to his salary this past year?

Suppose I’ve always had a bit of East Coast bias against the PAC teams…admittedly.

Think Hurts agent may have favored us some to get this deal done. Huge deal for her to get this contract done. Breaking barriers. Just gotta consider she was less likely to play hard ball than seasoned agents.

  • Author

She broke ground by getting the deal done with Hurts. But financially it wasn’t fantastic job money managing. Good for us. Avoided all the hardships of dealing with an agent willing to put Rosie’s feet to the fire.

  • Author

Because no matter how much se fans wish to kiss the ground of every move Rosie makes…it takes the player and his agent to make it happen. Cousins was just a starter level QB option. But even he could force top money options. If the player and their agent choose not much any franchise can do to stop this. No matter how much praise sone want to throw at the GM. Hurts could have easily held out. Forced much more. Played more a waiting game knowing salaries are only rising. Really the key was Hurts agent wouldn’t have agreed to anything more than a three year extension. All the ways I tossed around the different options…the longer the extension the better for the organization not the player the deal was.

Don’t think you need to be a math whizz to understand how massively the salaries are going to boom.

  • Author

I still remember how I was trying to explain the inflation situation coming down the pipe. Was seeing how obviously salaries were about to hit 50 mil a season. It was so unthinkable to many.

  • Author

Six seasons from now what are the guesses the top salaries will be at then?

  • Author

Might as well give the factor of it being an 18 game season at that point.
