Not sure what they have to gain by BSing about taking a QB. So it’s fairly interesting little tidbit.

They have the trade position.... a team can move up there instead of 3... get the QB they choose.

What this tells me is 3 possible  things....

1.  They don't like the QBs outside of their 1st choice.

2.  They like the idea of what they can get in a trade.

3. They found a non QB who they really like.

Any combo of that would make them want to put it out there before Arizona gets all the trade assets.   Maybe Houston wants to make Indy have to pony up more...it's their division rival.

If they drop from 2 to 4..  get either the QB they want or the non QB they want... why not make the move to get the additional assets?

The late-season ACL tear obviously hurts his draft stock, but maybe not quite as much as you might think. The 25-year-old was already likely expected to need some development after playing in Josh Heupel‘s extremely quarterback-friendly offense in Knoxville. His jump in success from Virginia Tech to Tennessee could be a result of the Volunteers’ offense that included mostly play action passes that had largely predetermined targets.

I was thinking it was maybe just a way to gauge the rest of the leagues opinion on their possible QB selection.

So they are like a 7 year old...needing approval?   That's more important than passing up the assets Arizona is going to get?

Say Dallas was #4 and we were 2...  both of us need a QB.   You really like one... but after that you are ok taking either one of the next 3 guys.    The 3rd team doesn't need a QB.   They are obviously going to take trade offers.

You don't think you would want to listen to the trade offers to gage what you could be passing up?   And still end up with a player you would have taken at 2?

Especially if it forces Dallas to  have to move up to take a QB.

In your mind the Texans somehow are getting opinions of QBs  ..you think teams are going to tell them who they are getting with that pick?   That means more than getting a possible boatload of assets?

If you have three teams make huge offers for Stroud…..then would you really want to trade the pick away being a QB needy team yourself?

If you go from 2 to 4... and get offered a nice package...and you don't really have one of the next 3 as a guy you need to have over the others...why not trade?   Or if you like one of the non QBs a whole lot?

Why not?

I mean... if you could have gotten the same player at 4...you would be dumb not to at least investigate.

I like to be a fan that looks at all the different options...  remember that pearl of wisdom...it was only yesterday.

What are Hurts cap hits on 2027 and 2028? Like 90 mil?

I saw 81 and 76... but with 51 million salaries.

So in reality we know that at 51 million he will be underpaid at that time ( crazy but true)

He should flip that salary into a raise and have it all signing bonus in 2027.

Let's say he gets $80 million... divide that by 5, makes that 51 million turn into 16 million ( 80 ÷5)  lower the cap hit by 35 million.    So 81 mil to about 46 million.

Then you figure the lower salary in 2028... which should make that 2028 cap hit drop as well... probably 42 mil.

From there idk... but I'm not worried about 2029 cap.

If we have a slightly above average starting NFL QB... with a total of $160 mil of cap hits for the next 6 years... $26.66 average.... that's a great value.

If that QB is anywhere near the top...  it's a freaking steal!

Hurts had ankle surgery

The word on CJ Stroud is he isn’t coachable

Just a minor surgery on Hurts' ankle.

See we restructured Mailatta, specifics not out

LMAO

Hurts had some "hardware" in his ankle from an injury in college, had it removed

Always crazy to look at what could've been: There was a point last offseason when Allen Robinson nearly agreed to sign with the #Eagles. He ended up picking the #Rams after they made an aggressive push. Philly pivoted and traded for AJ Brown a month later. Rest is history.

Haven't been on much, just draft hyped out. Starting to warm up to it now.

Glad we got Hurts done on a good contract, everyone seems happy.  I do want to see us add to his weapons - RB, TE - and the OL - RT

RG,WR,DE,DT

Had RT as someone who can play RG as we don't know how much longer Lane will play.

OTC has us at 20 mill to play with. I don't understand how they have Hargrave as 12 mill in dead money, Seu at 7.5. WTF let them go with that kind of money owed? I understand guarantees and spreading money out. Would rather have kept and paid those players - well at least Hargrave. We have 55 mill in dead cap due to moves like this.

Cards hosting Nolan Smith. Pretty interesting. Leads to thinking they are looking to trade back, as they have the third overall pick.
