Yes he was sentenced to do the penalties. Usually you have to re-appear,but they just did it all at once.

Think about it....1000 hours of community service...  he is about to get drafted... he needed to get started on that while he was still down there.

he said he wanted to "clear his name" but pleading  'no contest" doesn't do that

You don't think he paid the fine right away and started the community service?    This was 3 weeks after the combine...you don't think in that time the plea was negotiated that it was announced after it was final.

Otherwise he would have had to go plea. It was already done.

At any rate he dodged a bullet with some help. So I guess he is ok? IDK he's hard to trust for me so I hope we did due diligence if he falls to 10. personally I don't think we stay there anyway,so it's moot. But now if he IS and TB offers you the trade,do you take carter or make the trade? I still don't like him,but if we need him and we can control him then whatever

Yep a little rule bending or at least SOP bending

Yeah...so he could help them with community service ASAP.

Yes he wanted to clear his name...it was obvious he was racing... that's what they had him on...that's it...so that's why he pleaded. And that's why the government wanted to plea deal.

It was official and that's why it was announced.

Idk about rule bending.. why would it be announced if it wasn't official ?

What purpose does it serve to have a court date when in the plea agreement that is signed... it clearly states the penalties and the fact that it closes the case for him?

I still don't like him much. No real apology with "heart" to the families of those killed. He just seems like an arrogant arse to me

If it was you or me and a plea deal was reached usually you go back later to make it official(paperwork). They sped up the process for him(I know because it happened to me twice). The charges were dropped by the judge both times because the ex tried to frame me lol

Anyway enough about this(again). IDK how the Eagles view him which is all that matters 1 week to go!!

I think you are thinking the scenario if once they brought him in...from the combine...if he pleaded at that time...then they need a court date.  But this was negotiated over time... he wouldn't sign the plea paperwork,  unless ALL the penalties and everything else was clearly on the agreement.   There is no need then for a sentence hearing if it's all there on paper...and signed.

What's the point if you are the judge and everything is already there?  The judge couldn't do anything.  Couldn't reduce or add anything due to the agreement.

I'm pretty sure the court date would be if a plea wasn't official or the judge could change things.

Idk if he did or didn't...why would that be made public?

Actually not all that matters...because he would have to be available first...which doesn't seem likely.

Maybe because he pled no contest. My lawyer told me to agree to a plea deal but to plead innocent,so maybe that's why I had to go back(meantime more facts were gathered), No contest means "ok whatever you decide"

To clear his name and make him look better? Doesn't matter now the NFL blew it all off as nothing

He was at 10 before, and the NFL just brushed it all off,so i agree he doesn't get to 10,so now the question is do we move up for him?

I'm sure his attorney made sure of 2 things.

1. The exact penalty was on there

2.  Wording of it being over now, nothing more can be added to charges in regards to Carter and this case.   He was racing, but didn't contribute to the other person crashing.

Yep the judge said ok,so once again they did him a favor. Can we move on now???

His name doesn't have to be cleared.. he is guilty of racing.   He is getting the penalty for that...case closed.

The apologies should be sincere and to the families...not for public appearance.

Or he did them a favor... because all they could prove was he was racing.  Unless he crashed into the other car which obviously he was behind if the wires hit the top of his car after the other car ran into the pole.

The govt doesn't like to spend unnecessary court time either. Otherwise there would be no such thing as a plea.

Wow... saw on a Facebook post where Dallas fans were posed a question ( after Hurts just got paid)    do we give Dak a raise or draft another QB?

All the fans want to draft a QB.

So I chimed in.... trade up to pick 10 to draft a QB....throw in next year's #1 pick.   Lol.

Man would that be awesome!!!  Dallas giving us two #1 picks to draft a QB...lol.    Dak has all this money on the books, Ham and MJK would love to see that " dead money"

Figure we could probably get another day 2 pick out of it... the Minnesota trade for pick 23 was supposed to include round 3 this year plus next years first.  Figure we should get at least that.

Do it Jerry!!!    Howie's prediction of crazy stuff happening...this would be great.

RIP Fran Tarkenton, 81

Forgot we drafted him
