Hurts/Minshew combined to throw the ball 536 times last year roughly 32 attempts a game

of those 536 passes

AJ was targeted 145 times

Devonta Smith- 136 times

Geodart- 69 times

that leaves 186 pass attempts to go to other players on the team

Yeah... numbers for Quez weren't my issue... he could have been more of a factor on some key plays.

This year we probably throw 600-650 times.   So more opportunities... let's hope he makes some plays...or other guys step up too.

Not real happy today. Look at what got drafted right after our picks. Not going to age well I think.

Oline I give Stout so much benefit of the doubt. Think the Oline was a safer pick. Deliberately trying to just get a serviceable backup. Wanya was the huge ceiling player drafted right after. But he wouldn’t be ready right away probably at all. Wouldn’t dress for two years possibly. So they went safe and low ceiling by getting a backup Oline on day two. Not happy with that decision.

Hope he plays LT to back that up at least.

Hope I eat my words on him big time. Be great to be wrong

Stout judgment so hard for me to question. Guys forgotten more about Oline play than I’ve ever pretended to know. But not all his picks have been gold. This one I question. Look into to him deeper to figure out what I’ve missed. Will investigate deep to see if I need to correct my initial thoughts.

DB was a huge need. Sydney Briwn I watched a fair amount of highlights take and write up scouting reports. Noticed him. Didn’t see him as day two.

So felt we reacted. But thank god they didn’t continue ignoring DBs and the Secondary once again. But my boy Battle went right after.

  • Author

Sticking to my guns on this choice. Battle is a real football player. So I don’t hate Sidney. Almost just jumping fir joy to see any legit attempt at youth DB. Like a miracle.

Battle was the clear call. Mark my words. Last year a huge pack of S all looking good already. Been seemingly calling out day two S for eight straight drafts. College been pumping out the position better than ever.

So yay we got a day two DB. Almost sure somebody forced Rosie to do it. Could he have actually learned and noticed last year the results of quality Secondary? How many DBs you need now. Old school 90’s football isn’t the same game now. Gotta adapt. 3-4 and 4-3 almost becoming dinosaur defenses. Minimal usage. Even when it’s deployed now it’s hybrid scheming that just wasn’t done back in the day.

Been on this(counting the old Fing PE site preaching for over a decade about getting S. LBing I saw evolving towards more S type players even. SS, FS, blitzing. Run. Coverage. Pass rush and S. Mostly what makes a D now.

  • Author

Been trying to explain my ideas have been that old school thinking was S and coverage smaller players can’t hold up. Why they got LBs. But LB keep getting smaller. Even our Edge guys Nolan and Reddick barely more than S sized.

  • Author

So my theory been since I saw the game pass Tritter by is just get tons of S. Plan on them getting banged up and such. But you get numbers you can handle it. Disguising D it’s unreal the possibilities. Maybe a MLB and S types. Not disrespecting corners. Got there role. But S can even handle the slot and many Corner duties. Especially when you consider playing zone. That Gannon Three deep with two outside corners responsible for deep zone and one deep S in the middle. LB need to cover so much more these last few decades. Been seeing this evolution coming for so long. Painful it seemingly didn’t get noticed even more.

S can tackle. Get around the blocks. Blitz. Cover.

LBs aren’t holding ground against Oline. The job is get around them. They get their big mitts on any of the second or third level guys they are done anyway. Don’t get much if the LB hitting the blocker to stack and shed anymore. Old school. All about getting around. Or just holding up to not give up the huge hole. S game now. Could utilize five S fairly regularly now. Game evolved to being too specialized now. Use the S. Maybe they can’t take the pounding the old school 250 LBs could. But those guys even gone. LBs at 230 now. Heck our Edge rushers barely more than that even.

Counter the durability issue that was concerning so much with numbers. Plan on needing backups. But if you using them so much…gives you versatile too. Not getting so many different LB types. Got like four positions of LBs to fill currently. Starters and backups. Instead go more S. Disguise, versatility, roster easing. So many reasons to me it’s been an obvious path.

Eagles owner Jeff Lurie says Jalen Hurts does not have a ceiling. He says Jalen is the culture setter for the Eagles and that is extremely rare at 24 years of age and especially important when he is the quarterback and your best player.
"Franchises go through special moments, and this is one for the Philadelphia Eagles. It's crucial no matter what that you can find your quarterback for the present and the future, and to have that person be as sterling a character and as passionate about his craft and as dedicated as this young 24 year old is: is remarkable."

What about Greedy Williams?      No chance of playing him in any dime package?

Not speaking for others views. So posting MY thoughts. How I see it. Should I say what Desai or others think? Seemed like an obvious evolution occurring. So MY thoughts are going to S heavy D. Especially if you consider the past LBers. Much of the guys today are more S like.

He’s an outside CB option from my understanding.

Why our power running attack works like it does now. So much more finesse players. Smaller faster LB. But those guys can get pushed back when you come at them.
