All these Senior Assistants and such. Probably barely hired by the HC. So they didn’t have loyalty to him…it was to the FO. Don’t need some huge ego know it all getting into players ears questioning their bosses.

The Patricia hire does worry me for that reasoning. He isn’t HC here. Not a OC IR DC. So has he been humbled enough to just slide in to simply assist our DC and OC.

Not even sure how they are working the Secondary coaching wise.

How quickly the team can transition and adapt to Desai’s ways from Gannon will be key.

Usually it’s been long understood to take two seasons to really have a new D hitting well. Thinking as I understood the hiring of Desai was he would like to run very similar D to Gannon. Siri has explained his philosophical D approach. I believe it hamstrings any DC somewhat. He preaches from an O stand point if you ask me. Demands the D focus on not giving up huge plays.

So he pretty much is forcing cloud three deep playcalling on the majority.

Not allowing a dominant aggressive D approach really. Which I’m sure league wide is known.

Imagine we bring in a couple of vets that aren't exactly cheap.   Wonder what that would do to the narrative that we have no cap space...or that Howie can't manage the cap.

It's interesting... at this point the Eagles will have plenty of cap space for the foreseeable future....at least until 2028 and even longer.

Only one thing could screw it up... that's the QB not performing at the average QB level....the level that his cap hits are at.   Actually they are below average cap hits...but in the event he needs to be replaced,  that could cause some big time dead cap.

As long as Hurts can play..  he gets extended and the team cap space will be there...for well into the 2030s.

It's ironic ...Howie will be a cap genius if Hurts pans out.   For the Howie haters, it will take a Hurts collapse to cause any cap trouble.  It's ironic.

Your Hurts hating always seems to come out. Still questioning and trying to figure out traps to blame anything on Hurts. Those cap hits are so low because of Hurts. He didn’t have to agree to anything so team friendly.

Hurts was clearly the best player on that SB field that day. So try again on we’ll win it all if Hurts is playing at his stupendously low franchise lifting cap hits. He performed at 60 mil cap hit level in that SB. Still lost. Why don’t you look around the whole franchise to hold all accountable.

D laid an egg. RB room didn’t deliver. Whole D side was embarrassing. Played poorly isn’t even fitting it. Wide open TDs and so many plays can’t be happening. So much talent on last year’s D. No way they should have been anywhere near that bad.

This isn't HS. Loyalty is annual. You're loyal to whomever signs your paycheck, same as the players

Oh boy. We didn't pay him 255 million? I doubt he is worried about cap hits. He played well and now we're paying him.

We blew a 10 point lead? Quez dropped one? Hurts dropped one for 7? Yep plenty of blame to go around, just make sure you add Hurts into that mix. He played a great game,so did Mahomes. We just failed to outscore them. Nothing to do with "Hurts hating"

Anyway, that's in the past. Should be a fun and more challenging year for us now. Looking forward to playing better teams and still winning. Lost some guys, but got some good guys in,so don't see alot of drop off. Just have to work harder and play smarter

Not blaming Hurts... the point is simple... unlike your 14 consecutive posts worrying about silly stuff ..

The contract for Hurts was excellent.  The QB contract is what has the most effect on the cap.

The Eagles way of doing it....you have been arguing for years they don't know how to manage the cap.    Like a wedding planner worrying about the style of napkins.

Howie has Hurts locked in.  Same as the Eagles had McNabb, Vick and most recently Wentz.   The contracts are done the correct way.  Early,  using leverage of the final rookie season. Its why the Eagles always have the ability to sign players.

Even in the implosion that was Wentz wanting out....they were able to get rid of him with minimal effect on the cap. It was one year where we didn't spend big money.

One year.   Now going forward we are set up the same way.  Except better.  Prime guys are already locked in for years.  In addition a great young core of prospects was drafted.

This is the best situation ....BY FAR...that has been set up long term for an Eagles QB.

I wouldn’t go to crazy over Siri saying something complimentary about a RB that simply hogged a roster spot last season for no reason. I’ve questioned why it was even done. Funny thing is the fans that think the RB room is irrelevant….are the ones that like tying up a 53 man spot for an extra nonused RB on a field goal short of Championship team. So many things and pieces you have to realistically consider factoring in coming up just so barely short.

Think Siri naming dropping a guy that was at the bottom of our roster is actually kinda huge could have just talked about Scott who we resigned or Gains but instead brought up Sermon.

What I find funny is fans like you that expected a young RB that got signed what like week 3 to truly compete for a role in our offense last season. All our RBs ahead of him had 2 years with Siri and the O. We weren’t taking meaningful reps away from our starters.

So the fact of a guy that was basically running with the scout team all last season still made enough of an impact on the HC to name drop him should not be taken for granted.

Read previous post to see my thoughts and where I’m coming from. Think you got Penny and Swift that will possibly be worked through the IR system this season.

Not even sure Penny makes the team wasn’t all the impressive in Seattle and we didn’t really commit anything to the guy. Could easily see us cutting him

It sure us set up that way.

Werent you the one who didn’t want to pay hurts if he performed…. Remember pretty clearly how you were against the idea and want him to play out his rookie deal even going as far to say we should just tag him instead of extending.

We have always managed the cap well.

But right now we have put our franchise QB in the best position to succeed long term....by far ...compared to the past.   And that's coming from learning from mistakes.

Right now...

1.  Cap space...  with QB locked in.

2.  Core in their prime,  locked in

3.  Excellent young prospects ready to become the next core... locked in

We haven't been in this position before.  If the QB is legit, and obviously the team stays healthy enough... no reason we don't sustain success.

The question is how much success. What level.

Only way this implodes is by having to replace the QB and eat the dead money.

Yeah... " it's not fair, you are all asking Hurts to have to perform at an MVP level just because he has players around him now"

Yeah... and so he did and got paid.  Right.    Now he should only get better...unless it was a fluke.

I don't think so.  One thing that was never in question was the character.  Losing at the end always leaves the MOST bitter taste ...because you were right there.   I don't question his motivation after getting paid.

The talent is still there around him.  No reason he doesn't have success.

In fact... really we are in great position to even add more pieces going forward.  Both draft...and free agent and trade

Penny-injury issues kept him sidelined. When he was 100% he was very effective. Seems to me we have 5 RB's for less than what most pay for 1. And Howie did it while pulling a RB CYA. Even if 2 go down,we still have a running game and arguably our O line is better than anything Penny had in Seattle. So without predicting who stays or goes,I can say with certainty any RB on our roster can succeed behind this O line. Maybe we can even get away a little from the "tush push"

Swift was the same. For that the Eagles are paying these 2 guys they should be able to get a season by combining the two.

What I'm noticing this year.   And this is from reading all your posts here... media... and reading up on my own.

It seems none of these draft picks say " I'm the smartest guy in the room "

It seems every pick has legit value fir the spot they were taken.   No " what are they thinking"

Sure there are questions...every draft has questions.    Was it the right OL...the right S.... why that type of QB...etc.      But nothing out of left field.

When the surprise part of the process is how other teams let players fall to you ...that's a good feeling.

Of course they still have to develop and prove to be good pros...but feels good not hearing all the WTF were we thinking by selecting certain player(s)
