Yeah it’s actually a really good point and a point they made on Go Birds. The moves and picks won’t all work out but none of them are bad picks or moves. None you are left scratching your head about.

I will be the first to admit I wanted Howie gone after the Wentz issue. Why didn't Lurie fire him? I wonder if some of the moves then were not Howies.... Maybe Lurie had a hand in some of these...?

Yeah it kind of sucks.

As Eagles fans we're supposed to have something to complain about. I have none

What I'm noticing this year.   And this is from reading all your posts here... media... and reading up on my own.

It seems every pick has legit value fir the spot they were taken.   No " what are they thinking"

Sure there are questions...every draft has questions.    Was it the right OL...the right S.... why that type of QB...etc.      But nothing out of left field.

When the surprise part of the process is how other teams let players fall to you ...that's a good feeling.

Of course they still have to develop and prove to be good pros...but feels good not hearing all the WTF were we thinking by selecting certain player(s)

Yeah very true. I had said before the draft the position we needed/wanted were very close to where we picked. Howie moving and dealing enhanced that(by alot) even further than expected. Once again Howie left the 31 other GM and/or decision makers flat footed. Picking up UDFA"s that should have hear their names called on draft day (ANY day) was unreal. Eli Ricks has serious potential. Almost every position(maybe all) has been upgraded backed up or has future starters waiting in the wings. I don't recall in the Eagles long history,us having this kind of depth across all the positions. I think if you ranked all positions(say 63, keeping the old 10 PSers) that this is the best team overall we have ever had. Even the BU QB was an upgrade over Shew. I think we'll be a team to reckon with for quite awhile

I wanted a top slot WR.(or Joe's top TE) so we have that to rag on LOL. But really, I suspect we pick up some nice vet players as teams make their spring training cuts. Won't get any stars, but still some solid BU's. I haven't researched Howies UDFA WR. I will do that today. Perhaps we are giving Quez a redemption year. That's fine,we did it with Sanders as well. When you have 4 top receiving threats it's tough to get stats to all of them,so it's easy to see why Quez had a "down" year. Seems the guy from the falcons is STILL an upgrade over Pascal. So I guess technically It's not a complaint I have since we all knew we weren't getting everything in 1 draft. But if it's some outlier BU that went back burner,I'll take that every time

Haven’t really for a couple of years now either. The last big thing to complain about was either the Hurts pick (which my god seemed to work out) or the Reagor pick.

https://www.profootballnetwork.com/jadon-haselwood-wr-arkansas-nfl-draft-scouting-report/ Big possession type. Needs works(most UDFA's do) but potential to be WR 4(according to them) so depending on the play a possible rotational piece subbing for Quez the speedster. Could be useful in the RZ over time. This kid is(yet another) player from Georgia LOL

https://www.profootballnetwork.com/joseph-ngata-wr-clemson-nfl-draft-scouting-report-2023/ Same as previous, but with more potential to earn a spot. Apparently we were not seeking a speed guy(maybe one shakes loose in the team cuts) Clearly they are looking for a WR/TE3 type addition. if either progress,I could see some plays being drawn up for them in the RZ playing as a "fast TE" in the slot where speed takes a back seat to fighting for possession inside the opponents 20. So there is something here to work with

Really 3 unreal drafts in a row from Howie. He won GM of the year last year and seemed to top himself this year LOL. Some teams claim he is cheating somehow HAHAHAHA. IDK what he did that off year to make himself better, but it worked. 3 awesome drafts in a ROW

Losing CJG was tough, but our pass rush should be even better now(even with rooks),so overall I don't think we lost a thing despite all the players we lost. You could harp on if Sanders is better than the RB's we got,but really we don't know that yet. Swift and Penny can both take it to the house,so we shall see how that goes. Will be interesting to see how the new DC works instead of Gannon. I suspect there will be some different looks but we have the versatile player to play it. Need Dean to step up and maybe Calcaterra, but we're once again going to be a team to reckon with

This dude will wear D lines OUT(watch on you tube)

Nutshell-Penny is best if he can hit the 2nd level. With our O line, that should happen more often than not. Being in rotations will add to his longevity and avoid more injury down time

BTW Swift will probably only be here a year. This is like Sanders last year. This is his "big contract" show me year. IDK that we decide to shell out at RB. We usually do NOT,but he can make an impact here and get a bigger contract with us than he could in Detroit. next draft we COULD be in a position to take a high RB rookie. Penny could be a guy we sign again as a continual rotational RB

https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Raheim-Sanders-RB-Arkansas So as you watch college ball this year(if you do) then keep your eye on this kid and Henderson the RB for OSU. If all goes well for us and we are in good shape we can afford the luxury pick at RB with PICK 32!!!!!! 😁

This isn't HS. Loyalty is annual. You're loyal to whomever signs your paycheck, same as the players

Could be a problem. In fact, do nearly the same thing happened last time….when we actually won the SB. Reich and DeFellipo left. So Pedey went young with guys that could do the job…but didn’t have the experience. Rosie shut that down quick before any growth and development in young coaches could occur. Same thing happened with McDermott…under AR. I won’t defend McDermott for being on his A game first season in charge of the D. But he so clearly was a great coach for the job. Was hard for me to ever see doubting him even with it not being a spectacular start. Back to Pedey and comparing to our current situation. Rosie forced these Senior Assistants in on the O. Guys that have experience being in charge. Not loyal to the HC particularly. Whole thing completely unraveled. These coaches forced in by Rosie have plenty of knowledge and experience they could contribute. But felt like they might have been dividing players by offering different opinions from the guys supposedly in charge. Undercutting them. Players easily pick up on all that. Divides the cohesion of the whole franchise. Then you get into the easy assumptions, based on being so knowledgeable of how Rosie operates. He has the mega ego. He’s in charge. Flash to Jimmy Johnson and Jerry Jones feud. We all saw and loved how that blew up on them. Really fantastic franchise setup the cowboys had at that point. They’ve never come close to returning to that still decades later. So let’s step back enough and put away our blind live for our team to realize we can suffer the same fate. Not going anywhere near saying Pedey is Jimmy Johnson. But Rosie had very similar traits to Jerry Jones as a GM. Even though Rosie isn’t the billionaire owner also….he’s in charge. Can be great at his job too. He needs to stay in that lane though. Hire the right guys for the other jobs. He has what I consider an accountability meeting with coaches after every game. Reports and everything we know about Rosie lead to believe these meetings aren’t for pat on the backs after wins or uplifting confidence boosting after losses. He looks to grind on the coaches to make sure he shows his dominance as the boss. I’m not sure how consistent this is across the league. Do all coaches have to answer to their GM after each game to pour over everything? Haven’t heard of it before. Don’t think it’s never been the case or anything. Plenty of rich people think they are all knowing from my experience. I don’t doubt many a wealthy owner has tried to tell football people how to do football. All this getting to I don’t mind if Rosie is a middle man on the football game day specifics. GM has to on roster decisions. But my concerns are focused on Rosie believing he’s such the mastermind of playcalling coaching and being the expert in that department. I consider not his area of strength at all. He’s overstepped with his ego on player personnel before. Believe his call believing he’s the perfect scout and player judgement leading todraft and FA mistakes. He’s best hiring the right guys for their jobs and putting all that together to do his job. I like him really focused on spending and having resources in analytics and behind the scenes resources. Really can be helpful to provide the coaches with all forms of intel. But bean counters and graph charts don’t win football games. That info needs to be applied correctly by qualified football guys. So it’s a huge concern for me now worrying about what’s happening on D especially. Already been reported Rosie utilizes his analytic department to second guess coaches. Even after wins feels like coaches get second guessed.

All comes down to I sure hope Patricia doesn’t come in dividing the defensive players by questioning Desai or position coaches. Sure hope he doesn’t create divides between FO and coaches also. Be terrible to have added a saboteur undermining. He could undercut Desai to try and take his job. Or…I even wonder if Rosie don’t try and use him for ammo to question what the O coaches do as well.

GB...I noticed something for you.   Your WR...AT Perry???   The Eagles got pick 191 by trading 2 picks... then they traded 191 to Tampa for a 5th next year.

Well Tampa took your boy with pick 191.

Holy crap... "War and Peace" post there.  I promise I will try to read it.

But .... hilarious on the radio.   I'm sure Ham will love this.   They proposed ...if there was a draft where all the GMs, coaches and players would be taken by the owners...  that Howie would be 1st pick.

Mahomes is only a QB.... he also has a good GM and coach.     Any coach you select will have to rely on a GM to pick players.

The argument is that Howie controlling the salary cap, trades,  free agency, drafts...  he would be first pick by the owners.

Was a great 15 minutes of conversation... on 94 WIP... about 4pm.

.. Elliot Shore Parks brought it up... good stuff.

Why Howie wasn’t fired honestly think it was just because wasn’t a good situation at the time for a new GM so Lurie gave Howie the chance to right the ship that simple.

Sure Lurie has his hand in some Of the moves I’d like to think Lurie played a part of the coach having more control vs the micro managing that happened with Doug.

The best comment... " some even say that Howie was one Hurts fumble away from winning his 2nd, and that would give him the edge over Mahomes."

Lurie gave Howie the same rope he gave Chip... difference is Howie didn't hang himself.

I’m going to hold off on this for now I have liked what I’ve seen from our drafts but let see how guys pan out before I say they are unreal

2021 probably the only draft we can really judge so far and it is looking like we will have at least two guys here for the foreseeable future in Smith and Dickerson

Guess I should add AJ trade was a stud move by Howie in 2022

Yep I had Perry and a similar guy Higgins. Both were those "tweeners" but that's pretty interesting

OK so you don't see futures for last years draft picks? Unless Carter and Nolan Smith fall into the total bust zone,I think we hit 3 in a row. IDK if the players will be unreal, but what was unreal is Howie blew off 31 other GM's 3 years in a row. Smith far and away better than Reagor. Jurgens was a round 2 we don't even need yet. The AJ deal was superb,so I'm comfy saying they are unreal
