I think he has a slim chance to make the roster...but could be a special team player if he does.  Probably a practice squad guy.   But for the low investment... could be nice reward.

Banking on the high charted athletics. If you're going to take a chance on a kid, being a big time athlete doesn't hurt. So, nice scouting by whomever. He played too many positions,so let's see how he does with pro coaching on only 1

Nobody else is Hurts

Lol what this is just a stupid comment…. Reality was we had packages for Hurts because of his running ability similar to the Saints and how they had packages for Taysom Hill at QB when they had Brees.
Want to say the Bears even had running packages for Fields as a rookie.

Yes....well worth taking the chance.

simply because you have an agenda to try to show Hurts as taking less money and doing the Eagles a favor.

Really don’t understand this narrative at all he didn’t take less money he signed the largest contract in NFL history…

Cap hit is low that’s how the contract is structured he also got what think 110m fully guaranteed he is paid… then like another 25m just for signing.

I don’t understand how we are saying he is taking less money to help the team???? Because the way Howie does contracts he has low cap hits early that are backloaded way majority of team do things? So when we are paying Hurts 30-40-50m the cap has also increased like 3-5times and we are in position to rework his contract again

Idk... like to me what was never in doubt was that Hurts was going to get paid.    He was going to get the record new money...and it was going to be guaranteed.  The injury guaranteed is 176 mil.   The other guaranteed is irrelevant because he is getting bonuses prorated to avoid cap hit.  There is no shot the Eagles cut him the first 4 years.

He would have to completely suck to not get offered an extension with a huge raise sometime before 2027 starts.  The fact that the Eagles would have such a huge dead money hit..like 101 million...that pretty much guaranteed the Eagles have motivation to extend him.

Dude not only got paid now....he is going to get paid big time again. Another record breaking deal as far as " new money or cash "

The hate of Howie and the blind lust of Hurts..  i think prevents the fact that cash payment to player and cap hit to team are two different things.   Just can’t give credit to the Eagles for taking care of the player and also doing it to give themselves cap space.

I don't get the emotions involved here???    Why the agenda still exists.  QB is an absolute fan favorite and the GM has been killing his competition?

What's the problem?    I don't get it?

It's 2023..going forward.   You have Hurts and Howie.    Who would you prefer to replace ???

Great contract...good job taking care of the player... good job making it good for the cap.   Good draft.

Now let's acknowledge it all and move forward.    We are in great position right now.  Much better than a year ago.

Apparently Jalen Carter already signed.

Man how great is it now compared to the days when we had holdouts?

Norman Brahman was the worst.   Players had to buy their own socks.

I absolutely hate any soap opera part of the game.   Just get down to business.

Guard: Dalton Risner

To be honest, I have no idea how Dalton Risner is still available. He’s been a quality starter for the Denver Broncos over the last four years and has been strong in pass protection, allowing no more than 29 pressures in a single season, according to Pro Football Focus. Also, he was a Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee in 2022 and doesn’t turn 28 years old until mid-July

IDK 29 pressures seems like alot???? But maybe a cheap BU option at RG. Thoughts?

That's it.... would love to see some depth added there.  One year deal would work for me if dude is above average starter.

29 pressures...depends on the circumstances.   How many snaps...how many obvious passing downs....etc.  what would the " pressure" look like...very subjective stat.

PFF,normally they are pretty good about being subjective so IDK

Right before their rookie minicamp, the Eagles now have signed 2023 draft picks DT Jalen Carter, QB Tanner McKee, and DT Moro Ojomo.

Former Jaguars’ TE Dan Arnold reached agreement on a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, per source.

Not to be a nit picky bish(ok maybe I will) but i saw the pics of the 3 signings. Really can we please afford some logo pens and not the drug store bics for signing picks????  I mean go ALL out and get the green barrels and let them keep them???(OMG!!! NOOOOOOO!!!!) Spend the $600.00 a year just to class things up some??? Maybe even a gold barrel for our top pick?? Do I need to do all this myself????? 🤣 I guess SO!!!! They know where to find me

Didn't think cap hits was that difficult for people to understand. Maybe thinking of them as % of future cap would be easier, plus the later yrs will most likely be re-worked. The Hurts deal was good all around.

Really liking most of our signings during and post draft.

Loving how jerruh admits he has a better GM than himself but that he's still in charge and has final say. Meaning he takes responsibility for all their F/U's - reached picks, overpaying, holding on to players past their prime, etc. They could be a lot better team w/o his meddling, which is fine w/ me. More concerned w. the 9'ers then beating KC handely - total domination!

Kudos to Hurts... for waiting until next year to get the higher amount than this year.

His sacrifice saved the Eagles 3 mil in cap space this year.  Of course they would have saved that money next year....so it would be a wash anyway.

But hey... we have a need to make a dude getting quarter of a billion dollars look like he is doing the team a huge favor. St. Jalen in da house!

I believe the option next year allows for the extra dummy years at the end of the contract.

Carter and Ojomo can practice by beating up on Tanner!

My god he looks like Von Miller

Yeah, every yr this time wish I was still in Philly and get more camp coverage. When in A-town used to go to Lehigh - fun! This yr seems VERY interesting, coming off a yr I thought we won except for some BS. This yr will be tougher, not as many wins and the supposedly tougher opponents. Never know who's actually going to be better as everything's based on last yr.

But wouldn't that mean ticket prices go up...lol

Hey...  now you are getting it.

So his pay the first 4 years are ...signing bonus... and 3 options.    Along with minimum salary.

So while he gets paid ( just want to confirm that again so we all understand he isn't sacrificing cash)... his signing bonus and options get spread out over 5 years.

2023 bonus...  from 23 to 27

2024 option...   from 24 to 28

2025 option ... from 25 to 29

2026 option... from 2026 to 2030

At the current time he is showing cap hits from 2023 all the way to 2030.

However, the 2027 year..  that's when we redo the contract... we can give him a raise....and make it a signing bonus.

But after reading more, I think the Eagles can exercise a choice of making his 2027 and 2028 salaries into options.

So ... again Hurts got PAID.

But from cap standpoint... Howie just divided up each of the first 4 years ...into fifths.

I don't want to say genius.   It's not genius.  It's an obvious tool for anyone of the 32 teams to use... it's just the idea of using " dead money " not every team is comfortable with.

That's what I've been trying to tell everyone complaining about " dead cap"    some of it was a waste... but most of it was used as a tool to create more cap space.

It's not " look at that dead cap if we didn't have it then could increase our cap space by that amount.     No... that's not what's happening.

Eagles have 54 .7 mil of dead cap.

Davion Taylor,  Anthony Harris and Jalen Reagor... count for about $3 mil.

That $3 mil was a waste...because we got nothing from those players.

The other $51 mil is. ... Cox, Hargrave, Seamulo,  Bradberry, Edwards... along with White and Brandon Brooks.

White only playing one year...you can have a legit complaint about...but only $1.172 mil of dead cap.

Brooks.. he hasn't played in a while.   I mean,  idk if you can blame Howie for how Brooks got hurt and retired early.   But let's say you do. ..$9.8 mil of dead cap... but keep in mind part of that kept his initial cap hits low.

So a legit $40 mil of the dead cap...was used on guys who were major contributors for years...and Bradberry who we plan on having for years.

Remember...that's $40 mil in 2023 numbers... 2023 value.    2023 cap is $224.8 mil

2022 cap was... $208.2 mil

2021 cap was $182.5 mil

So if you look at simply 2023 and 2021.... the cap increased by $42.3 mil.   Putting all that dead money from 2021 to 2023... and you still have a couple mil of cap space left over.

So that's why I say all that matters is cap space. If we paid that 40 mil 2 years ago...we would have been able to sign guys... and with rolling cap, any unused cap space is a wash.

Better to spend future dollars ... they are way less valuable as you see from 2021 to 2023.
