Yeah, there should be some clause added to contracts. I mean for every team not just us. I mean at least have some time frame limit. I know teams use this "loophole", still I think that is wrong also. But just a fan,so....

Ok...say we agree.   Let's call the clause..." The GB coddling clause" ...but say we agree that it doesn't exist at the moment.   So since it doesn't...your theory about " coddling" while in appearance we could all agree to a certain degree might be what it looks like.... the reality is it's an absolutely stupid decision to pay someone and have it count and not bring him back to try out when he's healthy.

The players get to rehab at the pro facility while under contract.    Its a benefit to them.

So look at the next step....who represents the players?   Agents.   Who does it benefit to have good relationships with agents....the teams.

Now it might satisfy your immediate need here... but what is the smarter business decision with a fringe injured player?    Smart decisions are made without emotion.

2 things...

1.  Ive heard media say the other day..." wonder if the Eagles are waiting for Barnett to pass a physical so they can cut him"

Now you can understand why " coddling " exists.

2.   The Eagles seem to be a preferred destination for players.   Why is that.  Could one factor be that they take care of the injured players?  No matter how irrelevant that player may be??

Things to ponder in the big picture before getting a little impatient over silly things.

Good business people don't worry or get impatient over silly things.

So if he is always injured why keep him on???? If you notice the COMMAS, it was meant for jackson. He needs to show why he should stay here. 2 years of "coddling" isn't enough for Joe I guess. Now we have new guys in,time for Jackson to put up or go away

He doesn’t cost us a roster spot would be my guess you place them on IR…. And again don’t understand how you coddle a guy who fractured his back then tore his ACL???? How is he being coddled lmao.

I have no issue with Jackson not making the team but coddled dude has performed every time he has been healthy he just then gets hurt goes to IR and he doesn’t cost us anything doesn’t eat cap doesn’t take up a roster spot either

Calcaterra is injured last year we need to give him a chance he is healthy also already 24

Jackson is being coddled but was injured with a back fracture and ACL????? Only 25 only been playing TE what 2-3 years

I just want to know how one is being coddled and the other isn’t?

De'Andre Swift explained the reason why he chose #0 is because that's how many times the Cowboys have been to the NFC Championship in his life time

Fake news... that's what makes it hilarious.   Still going around like it's true.

Image we only carry 3 TEs…. Right now I’d image Stoll is as close as possible for a guy battling to be a lock to make the team whether that’s as the 2nd or 3rd TE

Obviously Geodart is locked as the starter.

4 guys for likely only 1 spot probably carry one on PS

Stohl is a lock. He’s been playing almost half the snaps. Depending how much we plan to utilize 12 personnel…he’s a borderline starter. Probably depends on that’s third WR development. Kid from ATL looks like the guy they brought in to pivot to from Quez. Seems like Quez has all the tools and makings of a good WR. Supposedly could make good jumping catches. Just need him to put it together we’ll be/were fine. Feels like the plan is to be looking for a third guy potentially coming loose via trade or possible cap casualty cut. Calvin Ridley you know could be on their radar.

Yeah, Jackson is like a free spin we just keep playing. He probably needed this long to be developed. Big season for him.

JJAW was a good example of coddling

I think we possibly could have been better off just sticking with him. He was an excellent ST. Beats Pascal there. Could have easily produced the receiving LOAD. Probably is better at running the pick plays without getting flagged. Heck he probably comes down with that catch Quez dropped.

Why would you keep a guy that fractured his back? Like keeping a Kentucky derby horse who broke it's leg(well you keep those for the stud service but we're not in that business lol). Calcaterra has 1 year how about jackson? Don't care if he's not taking a roster spot,we have our health team working on a guy who will never start for us,seems pointless???? Who is advising we keep this guy on??? Worse yet who is listening to that bad advice?? How long do you keep players around that won't play? I mean you can put him on the field if you want him hurt yet again, but WHY? DEAD weight is DEAD weight pay or no pay,but this makes sense to you??? Keep them on out of sympathy? OK if you want to,but not a great way to run a biz. Now we brought in new guys,if jackson can't play he needs to GO AWAY. Back fractures for a receiver are a NON starter. It's not a torn muscle. Keep him if YOU want. To me it seems to be a POINTLESS waste of resources. I don't know of any doctor that would recommend someone with a fractured back ever play football SO,we'll never agree on this. We brought in more TE's now,so I assume they finally are getting the message that jackson is a waste of resources??

Because you pay an injury settlement... you follow.   You keep the guy as your property.... or not...either way you pay.   Why not keep him ...since he doesn't count towards the roster if on IR.

When was JJAW injured for years?

He was brain dead

Maybe it's silly, but IMO it's wasting resources for no apparent gain or reason. There are other TE's around and we're bringing them in now. Maybe the lightbulb over their heads came on?

Right,we knew he was when we got him and the medical advice was probably "he will be ok in a year" Thats alot different than forcing a guy with a fractured back IMO. if you want to keep jackson on out of sympathy OK but he'll never consistently play for us. Come back in 2 -3 years when you heal up. We took a shot at getting a guy on the cheap(because he was already injured) and we tend to do that, but you need to know when to fold and move on

I like 2 TE sets, whether it's for extra blocking for a deep pass or taking advantage of weak mid field coverage. Seemed a bit weak last yr, so welcome the competition

No Joes explanation I understand, and I would be ok if there was some possible way he would play, but how long to you beat a dead horse?

Still is a very good blocker,I hope we keep him for that as TE 3. I hope Calcaterra steps into the TE2 role. I think jackson is DOA on that front. Apparently everyone else is fine letting this kid hang aound the parking lot for 3 more years. If the team thinks that also, fine by me. I just think it's a waste

Jjaw was a loser from the start. I was glad to see him go. It was an awful pick, almost as bad as Reagor

Yep,the light went on,so we're bring in competition

I watched a little USFL yesterday

It's obvious the personnel people for the Stars didn't ask Howie for any tips on building an offense.

Stoll was a drop from Buffalo. At lease he is serviceable. Bringing more in now and maybe we find a cut from another team. Whatever makes the room better. Adding a mash wing to the Linc is not improving anything

IDK I missed the game. I like the Stars LOL. How bad was it?

This guy is a super athletic very big man that just had no real experience. Honestly him sitting on IR for free was basically a perfect way to try and develop a player like him….well you know except he earned the spot to heavily with injury. Spent nothing….didn’t even cost a roster spot. Heck he’s not even been taking up a PS spot. That kind of no cost. Then, on the optimistic side, maybe he is ready to play the game and we get a super athletic basketball TE backup player added to the mix. Calacatarra has a much lower ceiling. Trying to develop him into a third string TE. He shows solid  in an all around TE role. That’s valuable in itself as a third TE here. He’d could be the first option in as backup if either top two TEs get injured. Goedert and Stohl actually play like what I believe to be four different TE roles. Calc could step into any of those serviceably.

Jackson is strictly a pass catcher. Not developing his blocking game other than a bad fake out.
