I wonder if Wentz will fumble again this week

Foles only needs one point to finally outscore Wentz for a week.

Love Foles

Really appreciate what he did for the Eagles in 2017

Glad he's not the regular starter

Caplan said something interesting this morning, that the Eagles turned down an offer for Barnett and could have moved Avery at some point, but decided to keep him. They face a big decision on Graham, who has played great but who has a monster cap hit next year.

I could see them moving on from both Graham and Malik Jackson, which would be a dead cap hit of $30 million, but which could be spread over two years, gaining them $15 million in cap room next season, although pushing the other $15 million into 2022.

I could see a DE rotation of Barnett, Sweat, Avery and a draft pick next season, and a rotation of Cox, Hargrave, Ridgeway and a draft pick.

The nice thing is that those moves, along with cutting DJax and Jeffery and rolling over excess cap space from this year gets them pretty close to being at the projected salary cap. I don't know if loving on from Graham is on the table, and I would love to keep him, but he is older and pricey, which hasn't been a great combo for us lately.

OK, so this idea of cap hit being spread over 2 years..... the thing people have been missing about that.   The Eagles need to get down below the cap prior to the start of the new league year ... in March.

I don't see them moving on from Jackson or Graham.  I'm not sure the rules about post June cuts... if you can designate them prior to the league year starting???  But I found this...

https://www.ganggreennation.com/2020/3/19/21186561/understanding-the-post-june-1-designation

So reading this, it seems that the cap space created by using June 1st cut rule, cannot be realized until June 1.    Does nothing to help us get under the cap prior to the league year starting.    The big cap amounts will be.... the cap space rolling forward, cutting DeSean and Alshon ... and he restructure of Wentz.    They will need to decide on Barnett before that, trade, cut or redo deal.    trading Ertz before the league year would be great, but I am thinking they may hold off on that one and try to do it during the draft.  Cox was restructured, not sure how or if they do it again?

But moving on from Graham or Malik don't seem to do anything to help get under the cap.   might see Graham restructured if he continues to play well, but I hope they avoid that.   Get to 2022 with as much space as possible.

At any rate, ignore my posts because I am not here to be part of the wuss grammar police force and I will type without spacing if I feel like it

Hightower in the slot? He gets outmuscled on the outside but he's going to be fine in the slot? Really? What a great idea. He can't beat out Ward but he's going to be better Jeffery. And Watkins is an even worse idea.

As far as Jeffery being gone next year, as far as I can tell the idea is to win football games this year, and that means putting guys on the field who can help them do that.

So how much playing time per dollar did we get out of Djax and Alshon? Pretty bad investment IMO

Seriously? I know you must be joking..... We all here just like to discuss Eagles and some are doing it from a phone so you can be sure there will be errors. Let it go my friend.

That is why we need to do better on the draft and keeping players instead of letting them start for other teams when we let them go. Howie cannot continue to hide the money and signing more frees agents. It is killing our team slowly but surely.... Will trading Graham help with the cap? Not sure anyone will pull a trade but just wondering....

LOL.... the path to get under the cap... roll over from this year... redo Wentz, cut Alshon and DeSean...   Do something with Barnett  ... and move Ertz.    Those are the main things.  Brooks, Lane, Graham Malik.. .don't offer much in cap savings if anything at all if we move them.   They should still be good enough to play here one more year, but like you said, we need to draft well.   But I feel we need that all the time anyway.    Next year will be rebuild in the sense of the moves, except we should still be decent if we have the right combo of young guys and vets.  The issue that comes into play, we need to find enough young guys that are here now, plus 2 good drafts the next 2 seasons ... so we can flip the roster for 2022 when we should be able to see which holes we need to fill via free agency.

Sucks really disappointed with those guys I had hopes that DJax would have this Offense firing on All Cylinders. My issue is becoming one where Peedy loyalty to these old players is working to the teams detriment. They have to get the young guys on the field especially with the Covid Cap next year.

Not sure i put the blame on Pederson. He's got to use the players at his disposal. And if either of them are healthy then they are going to try and find ways to use both of them. The issue is having them on the roster full stop and that is the fault of the GM.

Josh McCownwas picked up by the Texans. We were just talking about him leaving our PS squad to take an official 53 spot in Texas.

Seemed they unlocked Carson last season by getting him to rollout of the pocket. He’s great on the move...passing. The Oline personnel struggles would leave you to believe rolling out the pocket would be an obvious gameplan this season. Haven’t really seen it. Why? Uptempo also seems to get things rolling for him. Haven’t seen much of that either.

Foolish me drafted Carson as a second QB.... My team has suffered for it. On a bright note, I did win the Football pool last week...... My wife and I have picked up $2300 this season. Not bad way to end the first half.....

We have see the frustration with Doug each year... then he seems to coach better toward the end...or after the bye, whatever it is.

The forcing of the old school Andy stuff mixed in with read option.... limits us.  Then he adjusts to his players strengths.  I think this time, it's not only Wentz, but he has to adjust to new guys on the OL and WRs.

Every year when we lose RBs to injury,  he shies away from the run game.   Then he seems to use it more later.

Let's hope all these adjustments come now.  I would love to see the offense not work uphill, not be a square peg in a round hole... and actually be designed and called around the strengths of these young guys.

Thing is... Say this team does improve after the bye. Say it handles NY, beats Dallas and Washington and then picks up a couple of surprise results during that tough run... That is great and testament to everyone for that. But at what point does someone need to seriously question what is going on? Why does this team need to be backed in to a corner to start fighting?

We need to be more inventive on Offense and Defense. Seems like we are predictable and easy to game plan against. Probably cannot be done this year, but changes are needed on both sides of the ball. Hide, or at least make an effort to hide your blitzes. Use the same formations with pre snap movement for a variety of plays designed to exploit the opposing team. This is not rocket science, but it sure seems to be a hard concept for Doug and Jim.....

I honestly think the O is fine there are some bad play yes but plenty of plays there are guys open Wentz either throws a poor pass or just misses them... Sometimes it’s the OL needing to block half a sec. longer.

When I’m watching the O I see plays available to be made the O just isn’t executing.

D Schwartz tells you he plays basic D to allow his players to play faster it is what it is with him at this point.

I want to see this Eagles offense after the bye I want to see us with a relatively healthy OL Lane back at RT maybe Semaulo(I haven’t heard much on him)

I want to see Alshon in this O love to see him or Fulgham share the field one of the operating out the slot(I like Ward bit you can’t tell me either of those two won’t be upgrades)

And Wentz loves the big slot guys whether it was Jmatt or Ertz. Plus Fulgham/Alshon should be matchup nightmares for teams in the slot.

Want Miles Sanders in the backfield a legit threat running the ball who could take any carry to the house.
