Can bash Sanders all you want. But you are just making the point of how bad Gainwell is. Because the difference in the two is light years.

Yeah....this is where you lose me and the rest.  No way Sanders is light years ahead of any NFL RB.  He was forced carries last year to get stats.  No impact on winning.   He will play 2 years in Carolina before they cut him.   Just nothing special at all.

I'm very indifferent on RBs... but Ham is really making me root for Gainwell now.

I have to root for Carolina and every other team in that division to keep the Saints out of the playoffs for that 2nd round pick... so hopefully Sanders doesn't fumble or make a game losing mistake.

Two guys that won't be discussed in a few years... we will keep the committee fresh with new faces and keep having the team success.

Why do we have to sacrifice a RB for him? Why can't we keep both? I would be ok if we put Sermon on the PS again with restrictions, but really there are more WR's we can lose if we wanted to keep all the RB on.. I like Ojomo also, but I'm not sacrificing Gainwell for him which was the original point. if you want to sacrifice Sermon, then ok

So far no big deal sacrificing Gainwell…just call up the next undrafted RB from the PS. He doesn’t look better than Clement did for us. I even prefer Scott over Gainwell. So I see Gains as fourth string RB.

Yet Sanders was worse....plus dropping the ball twice...  and the play he is getting crucified for was the huge cut back lane that he missed to get one yard for the 1st down.

It's why when looking at committee... guys who can do the job for cheap.  Lock them under team control...and find the next one.

Guys that can do the job cheap? Guess it depends on your definition of doing the job. At Gainwell’s level of doing the job….they are all cheap.

Ok... so here is what I noticed when Howie came back.     Remember,  he took a year to go study successful teams in every sport.   At that time New England had dominated and sustained that domination like no other NFL team in the salary cap era.

At that point the Eagles didn't win a playoff game since 2008.   Shady was drafted 2009,didn't win crap with the high paid RB.

Since Howie came back, he unloaded Murray right away, Matthews finished his one year...then we went committee ever since.

The most successful era of the franchise.  The only era where we had players play in 2 Superbowls.

While Ham may want to do things differently... this is what has worked for the Eagles...and really every winning team the last 25 years or so...except Seattle with Beast mode.

There is a point where you need to put aside your personal preference and look to see what works.  Winning is the only thing that matters.  There are plenty of aspects thar are involved. But seeing how the common theme for almost 3 decades has been the committee at RB... don't change what works.

Blunt and Ajayi playing very well worked along with Clement. Then the team suffered because the cheap backfield committee approach was a bust….so the understanding of severe need to draft Sanders. Which worked last season. Good RBs work. Best pluralized. Cheap players that aren’t of quality don’t work. Multiple cheap options at any position(practically) is great….if they can perform. That’s basic salary cap 101. A million cheap options to choose from. Easy to find that. Ones that can perform and contribute is a different story.

Again....take the head out of the @ss... and use common sense.   It's professional sports...there are contracts.  The team has control of all the contracts.... Gainwell is the only one who is under team control past this year.

It's not a difficult concept to get really.  Is it?  Idk...sometimes I feel you either ask really ignorant on purpose or maybe you just don't get it... idk.

Wow! Amazing revelation here. Any PS level talent we can keep for two seasons is a roster lock now. Who cares about getting guys to actually play winning football for us? If we can just stack our team with cheap low level options that’s the goal. I bet we could sign RB Brooks for 3 years. Even cheaper and longer control.

And the results speak for themselves around the league.

At this point now, it just seems your goal is to trash Gainwell in an attempt to justify " I called it" for Sanders.

But I'll call it for you...we can grab Sanders on the cheap in 2025 after he gets cut from Carolina.

At that point though,  he will have a couple years to get trashed more by our fanbase, and failing in Carolina isn't going to make him more desirable here.

Similar to the ludicrous idea of hiring Gannon back if he fails miserably in AZ.

So you are calling Gainwell a practice squad level player?   Yeah you definitely are on your own there.

But I'll take the bet ...we couldn't sign anyone cheaper... take a look at the contract. This is what you miss.  Find a RB around the league that is signed fir the next 3 years that is cheaper.

Take a break from film study... go learn a little about the business side.  Overthecap or Spotrac.    Two great sites to educate yourself on contracts, how they work in the NFL.

So we have to replace the " elite " Miles Sanders.

259 carries...  1259 yards

26 targets...20 catches.. 78 yards.

So 285 plays we need to get that 1337 yards.

I didn't realize how pathetic the receiving was.  A long of 16 yards means he got 62 yards on the other 19 catches.   Absolutely brutal.  Swift might get that on one long reception.

Sanders 26 targets.... 20 catches.... 78 yards....2 first downs

Scott... 6 targets...5 catches...  15 yards... Zero first downs

Practice squad Gainwell... 29 targets... 23 catches... 169 yards... 7 first downs

The Practice squad dude.... out performed the COMBO of the " elite Sanders " and the preferred Scott...  by a mile.... on 3 less targets.

Boston Scott....  54 carries,  217 yards and 3 TDs

Practice squad Gainwell.... 53 carries,  240 yards and 4 TDs.

The Practice squad guy with more yards and TDs than the preferred guy... on one less carry.

Boston Scott....cap hit 1.212 mil

PS Gainwell... 1.023 this year  and 1.138 next year.

Making a business decision,  should be easy to see you keep the cheaper option that has been more productive.

Not really difficult to see.

A good analogy... you need napkins for a wedding...  you have a bunch already that are adequate.   You don't go spend more money and time to get a different napkin that isn't even seen as better quality.   Much more important things to focus on.

An even better analogy...  An event venue being an NFL team....and a napkin being a RB.

The successful venues haven't been focused on the napkins.   Similar to the successful NFL teams and RBs.

You can tell people who focus on RB.  One of two groups.

Older fans who grew up watching in the 1960 or 1970s ...  or big fans of college or high school.

The older game had the RBs as the stats.  The amateur game has the RBs as the stars.

The current NFL game is too athletic now.  The RB isn't by far the best athlete like decades prior or in amateur ball.

Give me a few guys that are hungry to prove they can play, have a couple specific skills that compliment each other, and are focused on the team game.   You don't have to draft them early or pay them big $$.

Swift and Penny were brought in. Sermon was rostered needlessly for a whole season. Not sure we haven’t already brought in Gainwell’s replacement.

Great, then who is the BU? You lose Gains(which isnt happening) and Sermon, that leaves Scott and Brooks as your BU's. You really want to go into the season with that?

Did Gainwell play well in the SB?

He played, must have trusted him to do so????? Why don't you just let the professionals do what they are paid to do? Sort/develop and play the best they have. If they played Gainwell, there must have been a reason??? Or do they just plop guys in with no clue? if the latter is true,we need to be fans for someone else

Swift is so much better than Gainwell. No competition there I see. Gainwell’s competition is Brooks, Scott, Sermon…any potential RB released on cutdown day. Gainwell isn’t a lead back. He’s fighting for a roster spot.

So why do you keep harping on it????? let them damn pros do their jobs. The top 2 still need BU's, why would you get rid of Gainwell with 2 years left on his contract even if he BU's Swift? Losing him is just a STUPID thought. Get that out of your head NOW

Not terribly concerned about season yardage numbers.

SO if you have no in season numbers to look at,your going to decide in the SB WHO is "the guy"????? My god I hope Siri isn't doing this. How do you know who the guy is at crunch time if you have no information? You go by last year??? or just get on fantasy stat site to see who your best guess is???? lmao

I can see it now,we are SB bound. Siri needs to check the stats on Swift in Detroit LAST year. Penny stats with Seattle. Then we have journeyman Scott and Gainwell who came on last year at the end. But since they aren't ,playing or we limit them,we have to pick which of those 4 is "the guy" in post season. Oh we SHOULD care about the in season stats Ham.It's how you make decisions when you need to. You fret about guys arm length or hand size, but don't give a rats butt about in season stats. I find that amazing. What do you do if all 4 have the exact same stats?

Happy Fathers Day wherever it is applicable

Sanders had 50 catches for 509 yards and 19 first downs his rookie year.
