But we have Jalen Hurts.... that trumps everything.

The running QB that can’t win in the postseason where teams will figure out magically he can run.

Signed Ben VanSummeren . he;s insane for a big guy, super fast wild man prospect. Someone worth taking some time with(like we did Mailata)

https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Ben-VanSumeren-LB-Michigan Could be a solid BU in time. Not starting material but could be used to spell someone a few plays a game to keep the starters fresh for stretch runs

I never said I wanted him back. I just pointed out a fairly plausible scenario where he could come back next year.

There is no scenario where we bring him back that does not involve Desai getting a head coaching job.

Didn't he come to the rookie OTAs?

Desai sucking and fielding a much lesser statistical D is possible. Not like we had to outbid anybody for his services. Actually waited what seemed like extra long…almost for no alternative reason…but easy to say he wasn’t a hot coaching candidate.

Two main selling points in Desai were him being familiar with the area and running a similar scheme.

Rosie really screwed the pooch with Fangio. Much rather have let Gannon go…and not made a stink to swap picks…to just get the best DC we could.

I would have shoved Gannon out the door for Fangio frankly

The change is made... Gannon is out.  It's different situation than wanting to keep a coordinator and not disrupt the coaching staff with the unknown of who he would bring with him.

Gannon has no hand at the moment with the Eagles organization. No threat of taking coaches with him.

I think in your mind ...you have already planned for Desai to suck.  Must be tough life with that mindset.

That's a great sign that you think Rosie screwed the pooch... I think success is coming now.

I like the new blood...  time moves on.  Gotta move with it.

You think....captain obvious there.   Going from a crap schedule to the toughest in the league...  wow, just a great observation that our D could not have the stats from last year.

Pure genius to think facing Mahomes, Allen, ... the AFC East instead of the AFC South... the tougher NFC schedule... I mean... to realize it's possible the other team might actually score some this year... genius.

IDK that we have a statistically weaker D? Don't we need to see them play first? Blank looked like he was coming on we have Dean,Davis and other promising rookies. Some coaches also take time to develop, like players. Ped got his feet wet here,he looks pretty good in Jax now? No DC had to work his way up,they are all just magicians? How was Fangio his first year?(I'm not looking this up,I will let you do it but LMK) Your staff can only do so much. Give a great coach crap players and he may hit .500. Belicheat was a "great coach" until he had no players to work with. Where's that patriot dynasty???? I will judge after week 4. By then you'll know what we have and the fact we're even being talked about after losing SO many top players means???? It means everyone did their job. I expect the staff do to the same 12-5. I'm "calling it"

I think I can safely say Desai has a tougher job that Gannon did. Gannon had it pretty easy as far as strength of schedule. I suppose the others did as well. This year is alot more competitive which is going to magnify any significant errors or execution issues. Losing Frank Reich made the Colts immediate contenders 🤣. And you know it's the coaches fault when players drop balls in the SB.🤣 Mailata got married,so he's done 🙄

Dickerson got married too. We need to run the ball behind Lane this year.

We have last years D stats. We have no stats for this year, yet we are statistically weaker this year??? I suppose we are since 1 stat from last year vs ZERO from this year would be less LOL. I enjoy hearing how bad we're going to be before we even play a pre season game. Part of the fun of sports for me,as a fan,is having people tell me how bad we are, then making excuses when we trounce all over them. Conversely, IDK any KC fan that said we sucked in the SB. They won, they can gloat as it is their right to do,but every one of them I talk to said "you guys had us beat and you gave the game away". Respect, unlike the piss ant fans in SF, so I will be extremely happy to play the 9 ers this year,so we can shut them up like we did Dullaz fans last year. Should be a great division. Pretty amazing how fast it went from league worst, back to one of the more competitive ones. Even the Wuss could be .500 this year. So the only stat that matters YOY is if you win the game in front of you.See no reason with a "statistically" weaker defense,we can't make a SB return because we should have a "statistically" better offense. Yet I don't know either thing and why we play the games. In the event Hurts misses time,I feel mar is a better sub than Shew, although I still think Shew can play, he wasn't suited for the Hurts style offense. I'm hoping week 1 we are defensively statistically better than last years offensive free for all debacle vs Detroit in which the defense disappeared. Thats the first "stat" I want to see

I think the team can be better this year... without the stats and the wins from last year.    The competition was really  ... really bad last year.  Almost unfair to us Eagles fans because we weren't really tested nor got to see top level play in close games.

This year I expect to see some good football.  I like watching 2 good teams play... we should see that more often than not this year.   Last year..  you could count on one hand when we got to see 2 good teams.

I haven’t been real high on him being the guy. Wanted Fangio. Few others were strong candidates. All those guys took other jobs. Knew Desai would get the job based on being available and not being a drastic change up schematically. But these aren’t just my thoughts. They seem to be the league’s thoughts as well. Our own FO showed they felt similar. I want to win it all…so of course I believe it’s an important role.

I don’t agree with this opinion. Time moves on? Need new blood? Nope…need the guy who is the master of this D Scheme. Getting a younger less experienced guy that is trying to run Fangio’s D isn’t a better answer than getting Fangio to run his scheme.

The main selling pint was he was the one guy Siri could get after Rosie screwed things up with Fangio. The better DC options chose to go elsewhere instead. By the time Siri hired Desai it was him or Patricia as about the only options that weren’t locked in elsewhere.

Exactly, it is that obvious of a scenario. So why are you denying and fighting it?

After week four of Siri first season they’d all be fired if that was the approach.
