 Nobody wants Gannon back....move on.

Not right now. But after we have the 18th ranked D under Desai…Gannon gets fired in Zona….that second ranked D Gannon posted will be looking like a welcome return. But the main thing is Rosie loves Gannon. Was doing anything to keep him on. Didn’t try to keep Steichen at all. Gannon offered to pay Gannon more than HC salary to stay on as DC instead of taking the horrible HC job. So very clear as day how Rosie feels about Gannon. Then you look at how last option Desai was…no rush at all to hire him.

"The interesting part about it would be this, I think it impacted a lot of peoples’ lives. Vic Fangio, for example, probably would not have taken the Dolphins defensive coordinator job and would be the defensive coordinator in Philadelphia today if everything was on the up and up”

Fangio’s response to this….”that’s possible”

  • Author

Fangio just finished his first practice with his new team. He’s not like "Miami is where I was always going”….or anything remotely like that. Could have easily shut it down. Heck most shut it down even if it’s a lie. He did everything but fully admit it.

Rosie screwed up bad on this. Over a pick swap lost his DC. The top DC on the market. The other top guys weren’t coming here. Then he has to settle all the way down the list for Desai.

  • Author

Number one DC choice to….6th?

  • Author

If Rosie let’s it go? We don’t get the pick swap…but have Fangio as DC. Much more valuable than the pick swap for sure.

  • Author

I think it was possible Rosie was using the illegal contact as a sort of form of blackmail ….”I’ll pay you…and not mention this dirty tampering issue if you come back for one more season.”

  • Author

Really makes plenty of sense when looking at the whole picture now of how things unfolded

  • Author

Whether he(Fangio) would have been Eagles DC if not for the Gannon/Cards tampering situation? Fangio responds: it’s possible. I’ll neither confirm or deny it.

  • Author

If Fangio’s number one choice was choosing Miami? He’d easily and obviously just shut that question down and say "Miami was my first choice.” He clearly didn’t.

Zero shot... you don't seem to get it.

In life people like things..  then something happens and they don't feel the same.

We can't go back..  Gannon is done in Philly after everything that went down.

Btw... I'd be thrilled with the 18th ranked defense this year.  ...with this schedule...that would be fantastic.

Everything had gone down….then Rosie offered him more than HC money to stay. GM throwing cash in the opposite direction of your opinion

Ok... do you follow the logic ???

The idea is that if Gannon was contacted and interviewed prior to the playoffs starting.... which is the rule that Arizona violated...   then it would have been known that it was very possible or even a done deal...that Gannon was gone.   Thus the Eagles would have the opportunity to ask Fangio to be the DC... prior to him taking the Miami job.

You follow???

Otherwise...tell me your version from planet Ham?

Again.... what had gone down?  Was there a rape.  A drunk driving incident?

What in your mind " went down "  other than Arizona failing to contact Gannon prior to the playoffs starting?

Because....   he was not given a choice.  He was never asked to take the Eagles DC job because the idea was that Gannon was not asked to take the Arizona job.

Then " the scandal"    was finding out that " after the Superbowl " that there actually was contact between Arizona and Gannon prior to the game.

There was no scandal going on when Fangio agreed to take the Miami  job.

Because the Eagles wanted to avoid having to loss more staff on defense.   There is a value in keeping the staff together.    Now Gannon is no longer in place.

You seem confused that it wasn't about avoiding having to make all new hires...  you seem to think it's about Gannon being this defensive guru.

Wrong again. You are muddying up the simple facts even. The call to Gannon was made after the NFC Championship win.

Correct... illegal to contact Gannon once the playoffs start.  It would have had to have been after the Eagles were done....after the Superbowl.

Tampering is all we’ve heard about. The league wouldn’t even respond to say what happened.

The story written on Feb 18th.

" on the morning of the Superbowl Howie asked Gannon if he was aware that AZ was interested... Gannon said no."

" After the game, Howie told Gannon he was staying in AZ"

" during the 11am Monday morning interview,  Gannon said he wasn't prepared because he had the Superbowl still on his mind "

Prior in the article... it was noted that the AZ GM knew Gannon.  But unfortunately he missed the window for talking with Gannon and had to wait now until after the Eagles were done.

So.... there was no " scandal" yet.   Later it was discovered that there was  contact between the AZ GM and Gannon prior to the Superbowl ( which coincidentally is also after the NFC title game).    That's when the Eagles became pissed ... because the idea is that AZ committed a violation by contacting Gannon without talking to the Eagles first.

The Eagles were unprepared to lose Gannon... and at that point Fangio already took the Miami job...without the Eagles getting a chance to offer him the DC job.

What else do you see that happened as to why Fangio is not in Philly?

And on top of AZ contacting Gannon behind the Eagles back.... Gannon denied it too.

Now you think this is a guy that the Eagles would hire back....this snake?   The guy that literally lied to them?

The offer of more money... if this is actually true... would have been made to keep Gannon here..  prior to the Eagles knowing that Gannon f@$%ked with them.

For some reason I don't think Howie and Lurie would want to work with a guy that f@#$Ed with then.    Do you get a different impression?

Gannon. Is done in Philly.   Just like Mel in Scarface ... Howie would be Tony.... " ju f##ked up Mel"  ... and boom the gun shot.

No shot Howie and Lurie hire back Gannon after he lied to them.

Of course the league wants to sweep it under the rug.  It's a bad look.  But what can you do?  You can't say Gannon isn't allowed to be the AZ coach.   The Eagles were lied to,  they negotiated their own compensation... the league wants it to be over.

Not rocket science though....there was a call prior to the Superbowl between Gannon and the Cardinals.  That was a clear violation.

The fact that there is a perception that the Eagles would have offered Fangio the job makes it look worse.  The league wants to avoid this going forward.  The less It's talked about,  the better.

Feb 2nd....Fangio agreed to be DC of the Dolphins.

Morning of Feb 12th.. Howie asked Gannon if he knew AZ was interested.

Fangio already took the Miami job.

Gannon should have been contacted by AZ a month prior.  Thus giving the Eagles a heads up and the idea to talk to Fangio about their DC job.

The Eagles never had that opportunity...  if it was known that AZ was interested in Gannon...and AZ and Gannon were honest about it..  the Eagles would have has the opportunity to talk to Fangio.

Fangio gave the correct answer...because nobody knows if he would have taken or been offered the job in Philly...because it was never discussed.    So his answer is absolutely appropriate.   Because the idea is he could have had that opportunity.. prior to accepting or even talking to Miami.

It's not really complicated if you follow the time line.
