Ham has obviously never played O line.

In case of injury you make as few moves as possible to fill the gap.

O linr more than any other position group demands you know what the guy next to you is gonna do before he does it.

Definitely wasn’t Oline ever. Monster Back…some QB when I was younger.

I played most every sport though. Junior Olympic Basketball played all positions(feisty defender…limited hops…yet had my tongue out and thought I was on track towards Jordan)Travel Soccer pretty much Center fielder.Tried tennis one summer and was the last starter for our third place all region team. Beach Volleyball and surfing, snowboarding, skate halfpipe. Football when I was younger I placed third in the state in the Punt Pass and Kick. Ping pong master(in my own mind) above my garage. Fooseball tournaments I won enough to pay some drinking tabs. Baseball when I was younger played all over except catcher. Pitching I threw overhand and sidearm. I got an arm…the accuracy…maybe not so much. Of course if your in the batters box…not so good for you. Hahaha Monster Back in football was the hybrid S/LB. Loved killing QBs. Admit a little dirty. More than one close line tackle was deployed…but didn’t spear. So obviously with all these sports and positions you probably picked up I could run. Quick first step. Cocky and would let the defender know about it. Agile and good long speed. 6’1” 192..now. Bit skinnier back then…but pretty much hit that growth spurt in junior high to 6’1”. Which was tall then. But height and speed measurable were all good….nothing getting me anywhere near these guys. Decided to go full time chasing the ladies as my sport from there….until I made the mistake of marrying an owner of a law firm. Nightmare. 16 years. 16 years now with my second wife I fell in love with at first sight. Hoping 16 years isn’t my expiration date. Have a 19 and 7 year old daughters. So smart and cute. They make my world go round. Occasionally get out for Disc Golf now…usually combined with playground visits. Enjoy white water rafting and ziplines. Really just love nature and hit the beach or hike mountains when I get a free weekend…or whatever…practically never nothing for me to do unfortunately.

You’ve been talking about depth. LT there is no depth …so figuring that’s the reason for the pickup of Kelly, don’t you think?

Was reading about Desai expected D front. Five man Tite front with three big guys inside will have 1 and a half gap responsibility. Nickle one gap penetrate.

Going to be fun... love the size and athletic ability right up front.   Win the battle there... then good chance to win the game

I posted the LT depth chart,it's not much better at RG don't you think? I'm happy with the signing he can play either, but in my defense when I posted about Risner,he(Allen) wasn't available,so whatever

So it's a 52 defense? what's a 1/2 gap? In order for 1/2 gap to appear, one gap needs to disappear completely,so explain this to me and why would we want said gap to disappear? And how do you force this gap to go away?

Philadelphia will employ a five-man front on first downs and obvious rushing situations and could employ Haason Reddick, Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis and Josh Sweat on obvious passing downs.    All this will do is make teams pass on first down I would think. While stopping the run is always excellent, we need to mix things up with different looks. if we come out with a 5 front thats a tip off right there for teams to pass on us or screen us

https://footballadvantage.com/5-2-defense/  Should be interesting to see how this works.it will be tough to execute vs teams with 2 decent TE's or a top slot guy,but maybe there are adjusts for that. With the passing game becoming more pronounced and effective vs the old RB days I hope this works. Should be very effective vs poor passing teams

So the 52 is not about "1/2 gaps" .It will force teams to throw on us more. We'll find out if that's a good or bad thing soon enough

Gotta love writers. Toney twisted his knee, sat out the rest of the day. The writers make it sound like KC's season is over

Lane had been long talked about moving over to LT. If Mailata gets injured could you see them finally trying to shift Lane over to LT?

I had just been pondering the situation of backup LT my post before this. The team has a couple guys that possibly could turn out to be options at LT. But they are options that have to step up at Stout U. Lane has been at RT the whole time. So moving him to LT isn’t ideal…but over his career it has been thought by many that he would switch over to LT. Kelly, I’d say, pretty much solves the riddle to the plan…AT BACKUP LT. If nothing else you could look at it like: have Kelly as that vet the young guys trying to prove themselves have to beat out and earn their place. I’d say ups the competition level…but especially seeing as you could easily have made the case…we had no backup LT. But you could now argue Kelly gives a legit grizzled vet to practically compete most all along the Oline.

Some must two gap. Some one gap. Desai has them responsible for 1 1/2 gap.

Jordan Davis is arguably our top run defender. Backwards thinking here on that.

Nickel will be deployed against passing…and Dime(you might recall I’ve mentioned before).

The five man front could be played and considered actually a 3-4 front.

Kelee Ringo really interesting me on his fit. Start with the negative opinion. I don’t see him as the twitchy slot Nickel defender. I don’t see him as a Monster Back type. Not a LB. He no doubt is blessed with incredible speed. Good sized DB. So I see him potentially having a few great fits. Outside CB :his top speed will allow him to run and cover over the top. Has recovery speed. Has length to also cover area. Basically thinking a faster Richard Sherman Cover Three type CB. FS: in Two High S looks he can cover the ground of his half of the field. Also think he could be good in those one high S looks. I mean he’d be competing against Blankenship’s role in much of this. So essentially seeing that he could cover so much more ground than Blankenship just physically can. He could get there faster. Mostly based on measurables than instincts however. How quickly Desai gets him in that right fit will be crucial.

They really have been pumping him for this year. He’s a guy they could get the ball in his hands and he could make something happen potentially. Also could see his speed aligned with Mahomes arm paying off. If they could add in some crossers or something maybe they could bring out a more dependable consistent producer. Seeing him as a Splash Player. If a Splash Player is dealing with an injured knee all season? Not going to see much Splash.

No such thing as 1/2 a gap

He has played RT also,he can play G in a pinch. He's a nice patch to cover anywhere on the line except C
