I play "what if". SO what IF you took Wentz and dropped him off in New Orleans? My guess is after little time for chemistry, he would do as well as Brees and I wonder what Brees would do here with 1/2 corps at RB,newbie WR's and an inconistent O line and a 3rd string TE.IDK maybe that can be simulated on Madden.Give it a shot lol

I mean I think that's a pretty bad example my friend. Brees is heading to the HoF, Wentz is not.

I agree with his point though, if you put Brees or any other elite QB in the same situation as Wentz they would struggle too.

My problem with Wentz is he needs to stop playing hero ball, take what a defense gives you, stop trying to make the highlight reel all the time, if the play collapses move on to the next play.

Morning GBFL!...  I have to say What IF - Wentz did not hold on to the ball too long. What IF Wentz stopped staring down his WR's. What if he went thru his progressions. What if he stopped throwing to the wrong spot. What if he just stopped making dumb decisions? Listen, I was a Wentz believer until this year. Now I have no excuses. Have they been hit with injuries? Sure, so has every team in this league! Is it all his fault? No, Doug could make things easier, but he is not that great of an offensive mind....

We play the Giants Sunday. All here believe we should take care of business and win that game. What if we don't?

After we play NY and Dallas, We play Cleveland, Seattle, GB, No and Arizona. 4 of those 5 teams are play-off bound in the NFC. Cleveland is fighting for one also. If somehow we can manage to win 2 of those games, we will most likely win the division. Assuming we take care of Dallas and NY..... All of the other teams have a much easier path so they only need to beat us to have an upped hand. We have players coming back so we really have no excuses now.

Who said that?

I dont think any fan right now thinks we will take care of business as you say. This game is a toss up right now and could go either way. If we lose, I dont think it will surprise many.

I agree... Josh Allen is the example I would use.... the OL got a little stable and they added Diggs to the group of weapons to make that group legit.

SURPRISE!!!!!!   Allen all of a sudden takes a huge leap?     But it's all him....lol

If this was one bad year then fine but it isn't. We have seen a very up and down Wentz since 2017. At what point do we recognise that this is what he is? And that he's not the elite QB we say in 2017?

Do I think he's this bad? No I don't think he's a bottom 5 QB like he's been this year. But do I think he's a top 10 QB who can help lead this team to a SB? No I don't anymore.

But he hasn’t been up and down lmao he has been very consistent until this year

I can't keep harping on how Wentz fails to not look great with a bad team

You keep failing because we are talking about two different things there is a difference between not looking great on a bad team and making stupid decisions

I said I was NOT giving Wentz a free pass. WHAT IF he had a line to give him time to do all that??? It can go on endlessly(the blame). Fact is he is not comfortable back there

Semaulo got activated in the 21 day window not sure he will be playing after the bye but means he is close

Signed Hester to the PS and released Killins.... Don’t we also have an open roster spot???

I watched the Giants-WFT game and here are some things I expect to see on Sunday.

On offense, the Giants were able to run the ball really effectively inside. It was surprising to see runs that should have gone for two yards go for six or seven over and over again. They really only had one long TD drive, and it was almost all runs. Alfred Morris was a surprise. Hopefully his performance was a one-off event.

Jones was getting the ball out fast. I counted two pass attempts over 20 yards. Everything else was underneath stuff. If the Redskins could have stopped the run, they would have won this game easily.

On defense, the Giants forced a lot of turnovers, or else they would have gotten blown out. Alex Smith was moving the ball pretty easily. They didn't run the ball much, but I think that was because they were down big. The Giants were able to generate much of a pass rush, and got lucky on a few of the interceptions as on one the receiver fell down, and on another the ball was tipped.

The key to beating them seems pretty straightforward. Stop the run and make Jones beat you, and prevent him from getting the ball out quickly. On offense, don't turn the ball over. WFT has one skill position player who could start for us (McLaurin) and an oline that is a lot worse than ours. So we should be able to move the ball. The big thing will be avoiding turnovers.

I don't entirely agree. Yes they'd struggle more but they wouldn't necessarily turn the ball over as much as Wentz does.

This is good news. It should bring some stability to the oline. Peters likes having him next to him, and getting him back improves both LG and RG as Herbig has been much better on the right side.

Has he? Since 2017 I'd say he's been very up and down and not at all consistent. If he's been consistent in anyway then it's been consistently average. But that would be ignoring the highs and the lows.

You can look at the stats the stats are consistent the play has been consistent.

All in the 60% completion range think two years over 100 QB rating 19 think was around 95 QB rating.

Yea I’d say pretty consistent play across the board

People see waht they want to see... it is what it is.    I'm not worried about the QB, other than staying healthy.  I've watched football for over 40 years, the roster has too many holes.   Injuries kept too many players out of the lineup ... multiple at the same position, so to many 3rd and 4th stringers, not the 2017 level where there were key injuries, but only one at each spot.   The roster has too many old and young players..... nothing like 2017 when the bulk were all prime age... mid to late 20s.   How many guys do we have on their 2nd contract????

This team has way too many issues ... the way the QB is playing is an effect, not a cause.   Is he to blame for some sure.... We can argue all day about what the problem is and why he hasn't played up to 2017 results.

The things we know ... 2017 he had the team around him and you could say coaching too.   Not there since, not close.     2017 we had consistency around him... not close since.   2019, he took a crap team and made the playoffs.     Those are facts.

We have yet to see him fail or even perform at an average level when the team around him had either better talent, or was consistent in who was out there week to week.   So to me its easy, this year he plays and gets used to his new teammates.  As they get better and play together more, his play should improve as it does every year.   moving forward, lots of moves to make during the offseason.  Make as many good ones as we can and we move forward.    If he fails then, just like how Nick Foles has been doing this year, then we look to make a change.   But I have no reason to expect him to fail when things around him improve.  Neither should anyone else.

2 weeks in a row... really some poor QB play across the league.   Some really poor throws and some dumb decisions.  Brady was brutal, Wilson..etc  lots of poor sacks taken and bad execution.  OL play looks down across the board too.

He will lol

2020 Philadelphia Eagles 8 305 178 58.36 1883 6.2 59 12 12 93 30.49 20 32 219 73

So I'd like to see the "consistent" guy show up again soon!!!(Wentz stats to date 2020)

A good look at Mailata against the Cowboys.

Some good and some bad. His run blocking is starting to get scary good. It just isn't that often you see an offensive tackle drive a DT five to 10 yards off the LOS, much less over and over again. There is also a play where he pulls and pushes LVE five yards down the field. I don't think people realize that those are the differences between a seven yard run and a two yard run, and he makes those blocks consistently.

His pass blocking can be up and down. He was beaten badly for a sack, but I think that was a bad call as much as it was a bad rep. Having him block flat against a premier pass rusher is a bad move. He did get bull rushed and gave up a pressure, but by the end of the game he was handling everything DLaw threw at him.

What I have noticed every game is that opposing DEs get worn down going against him, and are never as effective in the fourth quarter as they are in the first. It was really noticeable in the Baltimore game, but also in this game.

The team faces a tough decision. If Lane, Peters and Mailata are all healthy, I don't see how you keep this kid on the bench. Especially given the fact that Peters was getting really good reviews at guard.

Feels like a bunch of overreaction. It was a really strange offseason. So it’s not that surprising Wentz isn’t on his game. I’m sure Wentz is the only person ever that had their first kid and work suffered because of it. There was no preseason. But that couldn’t possibly effect Wentz’s play either. Would he be better if the GM made better decisions? Are we also seeing the effects of the brilliant miraculous Rosie backloaded contracts? No...couldn’t possibly be. Paying for 2017 and 2018 in 2020 cap money wouldn’t possibly be a factor. You guys thought it was all some magic and brilliance. Never thought we’d actually have to pay the piper. How would Wentz be looking if our second round pick was a RB...or Olineman? Instead of a QB. Last year traded up for an Oline in the first  that has been out hurt this whole season. Brooks a top G been missing all year. Lane a top T been struggling or out. Sanders hasn’t been much of a factor. But I’m sure none of this would effect any QBs play.
