Feels like a bunch of overreaction. It was a really strange offseason. So it’s not that surprising Wentz isn’t on his game. I’m sure Wentz is the only person ever that had their first kid and work suffered because of it. There was no preseason. But that couldn’t possibly effect Wentz’s play either. Would he be better if the GM made better decisions? Are we also seeing the effects of the brilliant miraculous Rosie backloaded contracts? No...couldn’t possibly be. Paying for 2017 and 2018 in 2020 cap money wouldn’t possibly be a factor. You guys thought it was all some magic and brilliance. Never thought we’d actually have to pay the piper. How would Wentz be looking if our second round pick was a RB...or Olineman? Instead of a QB. Last year traded up for an Oline in the first  that has been out hurt this whole season. Brooks a top G been missing all year. Lane a top T been struggling or out. Sanders hasn’t been much of a factor. But I’m sure none of this would effect any QBs play.

So.... the cap issues are why we spent $$$ on Peters, Hargrave and Slay?      It's not just bad player choices?    It's the way the contracts are set up that are causing the players to get injured?

I have no clue.Depends who we picked  in round 2.And let's face it many of our top picks are duds

First off, even if by some WEIRD chance it affected his work, noone was "at work" then anyhow!!! Secondly, I think many millions of dollars a year would ease the pain, burden, suffering, and strife ,of the joy of becoming a father

The only things I agree with on here is the injuries I do think it effects his play but not a reason for the stupid decisions(different aspects) and Hurts pick which I was against though I would not have drafted a RB in round 2 probably would not have went OL either hindsight is nice and all but reality is likely would have gone WR or defense

Off-season stuff everybody dealt with this just a lame excuse especially since even if he started slow we are mid way through the season now.

Kids marriage whatever else personal stuff just another lame excuse every player has personal stuff going on and they are getting paid to do a job.

Sure how much he gets paid changes everything. If you make millions you are no longer human. Baby is up late crying and he can just toss cash at the kid and fix it. Making that money means he would just ignore the kid. What was I thinking? Of coarse having his first child meant he had his most productive offseason working on his craft. Silly me! Of coarse work was more important than his family. Couldn’t ever be a distraction.

So the first child was the biggest factor in 2020?   Without the kid, he would have gotten a ton of work with Hightower, Ward and Fulgham.... Richard Rodgers ... all these guys that have been playing the most for us?   Also, without his kid, he would have put in more time with the musical chairs OL group?????

And yeah, the 2nd round pick we could have gotten would have been the big difference???   It's absolutely not a series of decisions like JJAW over Metcalf, Sydney Jones over Kamara ...etc.  It's the 2020 2nd round pick that was the big difference?

So how did picking a QB help Wentz’s game? If we took a Sanders(round two pick) level RB that would obviously make Wentz look much better. Having effective playaction makes any QB better.

You guys eat up all these stories in the offseason when a guy is doing everything possible to better his game. Working out with a specialist coach and so on....

Well.. the beauty of it is... you don't have to say " Sanders type pick"   you can look at the draft and let us know which one pick would have turned around Wentz' performance right away.

Why are your SF 49ers not playing up to par this season?   did their players all have their first child?   Injuries no factor?

I’m fine with being the only one that thinks what we are seeing is results of him having his least productive offseason. Seems obvious to me.

Couldn’t possibly be more than one reason....ever

It’s all these factors put together

Why was Zach Ertz having such a huge drop off in production? That doesn’t seem very obvious to anyone else but me either, right?

I agree.... he had no time to practice with the players that he has been playing with.  Big factor.   Covid ... new players .... players who never played in the NFL before.... Hightower, Fulgham, Reagor, Huntley, Mailata, Driscoll, Herbig, Opeta, ... studs like Toth and Brown ... big factor in the bad offseason not having time with those guys

How many 49ers are new dads?

Ham, I am sure this comes into play, but there is still no excuses for his bad decision making or staring down WR's. Maybe he is holding onto the ball longer to make something happen, so I will let that slide... This week he has most of his O-Line back. Sanders will be back also. So If he plays great I will say maybe there is more truth to what you wrote above. But if the same crap keeps happening, we have to agree he needs to take a huge look in the Mirror.

Everyone has a bad game or two. But 6-7?

Game experience against Lawrence is gold.

So... Steelers, Baltimore and Cincy were bad games??????

BTW... the OL is Dillard, Semaulo, Kelce, Brooks and Lane ..... we have Kelce and maybe Lane.. most of the OL is not coming back.   The issue with us here as fans, we get used to having 2nd stringers in there that they seem like starters.    Fulgham is already hall of fame, and Scott seems like a borderline pro bowl.   This is the stuff I am saying needs to change, i'm tired of getting used to 2nd stringers and making it seem like we have good starters in there.   " Not bad"  is still not good...lol.

We shall see... 2nd half of the season coming up now, we are in a good spot to get these young kids some meaningful reps down a homestretch of what should be a playoff run.    That's a great thing to build upon for next year.  Then they get a full offseason to work with a guy who will no longer be a new parent at QB.   Barring any of them becoming new parents themselves, it should mean improvement.

Because he is a complimentary piece... without the better players next to him, he was actually getting attention in coverage.  He can't create much on his own as far as YAC, doesn't block much .. so his game was being stifled.

But i'm sure you think it was the same reason why Dak had a bad year last year????

The defense is ranked fourth in pass defense for yards allowed. Twenty fifth in run defense.
Pretty big change for what we’ve been used to.

Ertz was just getting attention now in coverage. That never happened before? LOL hilarious.... so wrong

Gerry was struggling. That hurt our run defense. But I’d say a big factor is the difference in zone versus man coverage. Man coverage has your guys with their back to the backfield. Whereas zone let’s guys keep eyes on the backfield.

Agree run defense not as good.  LB position big factor.    I would think with the rankings after 8 games.... the long QB runs probably effect the rankings like 12 -15 spots.  The end arounds/reverses don't help either.  bubble screens that are technically a throw backwards .... all bad for us.   But absolutely on the normal RB runs we are not as good.

As for the 4th vs the yards in pass..... 3 games vs brutal QBs has to help?

That's insane. You don't think he would have help, if he needed it? Don't you think they discussed this before they made their choices? So now this needs to be in a contract? NO CHILD BIRTH?? You losing it buddy. You work BECAUSE you have family now, often you work HARDER .Yes,silly you.No other NFL player had EVER had kids while under their employ ? Never happened,Wentz is the FIRST ONE!!!! IDk,maybe I'm weird, but I was MORE responsible when I knew I was going to be a parent, not LESS

Did picking up a QB in round 2 HURT Wentz? I mean at ALL???? (Whether you agree with the pick or not).BTW did our round ONE pick help him?
