Am I overreacting from one PS look? From the reports from camp of him climbing up from third string? Moved to second string in a couple practices. I believe earned the chance to earn the starting job.

Think he moved to starter after that first PS game.

You don’t see how he has that finishing trait?

Not after 1 game,no. He's playing with JV's,the first stringers are tougher. Don't get me wrong,I like what I see,but it's way to early to make calls on these guys. They still have a ton to learn

Didn’t just give anything to this kid. Started him at the bottom. He climbed on his own merit.

Admit he wasn’t having to beat out All Pro competition.

Not taking the perfect angles and such first action as a pro. But bursting at to finish. Made the tackle with that finishing move.

So far he is being asked to cover a very small area,so we'll see how he progresses. Ricks was a standout before all his injuries. I hope he can come back. Howie takes shots with injured players and grabs them late. Dean was one, Ricks was another. If Ricks can stay on the field he SHOULD be a good one. He was an early ranked round 2/3. It was an epic fall from grace for him. He showed alot of patience on that pick 6. He's not that fast, but he has tremendous instincts. So lots of young guys with upside which is the way it should be.

We have some young players that are hungry, that part I saw. As you said, they need polished up and need to go up against the better players to really know. The guys they defend are making rook mistakes also,so the good stuff tends to get magnified,on both sides of the ball. WR Cleveland looked good, but again vs JV defenders. So keep working them and they should ascend, how high we don't know yet. The staff did a nice job in camp and that shows to me

You’ll have to show me how you see him being coddled with "with a very small area.”

Thought they played fairly standard D. He actually was more sound of his coverage responsibilities than others. So he was going where he should. But then covering the guy messing up and tracking down the ball carrier.

What can I guy do to? Started third string at the bottom. Then balled out at that. First action. He earned a shot at the starting job. I also see him complimenting Blankenship well.

Blankenship mostly just played deep FS. One High and Two High.

Sidney looks suited to move and play more roles.

Totally correct to point out he’s not polished enough that he gets slightly out of position on both plays.

Going out on a limb there saying a rookie needs polishing in August.

Is this another " the sky is blue comment"  that you will say " I was the only one who saw this" ...lol

Everything you are saying here has been said about Brown.   Seemed all of the local media guys were saying they expected him to start at some point this season.  Absolutely the idea of a perfect compliment to Blankenship

Ok...I'll chime in here... where was the word coddled or even the idea of that said by GB?     Simply pointed out he wasn't being asked to do the full job yet.   He's just being cautious.

However, with Brown, since the pick I haven't heard a negative about him.  Maybe height?   But seeing Ray Diddy rave about him as his favorite player in the draft... it's definitely making me optimistic.

So I saw the highlight from Carter and Smith on the first snap from Carter.   That tandem looks like it's going to be trouble... love it!

I sure hope he ends up being the compliment. What I saw was more of a pseudo LB which may be the way Desai wants to play the S's. Just like before bronzing Hurts early, as the next savior,I simply need to see more work(same as Hurts which you bashed me for) He played well and won his battles vs the JV SQUAD. He probably will be a starter because who else do we have?? He looks very promising. I don't just get my pom poms out like you for every good play in August. Good plays get magnified vs the JV's if another rook blows an assignment. Happens on both sides. Cleveland looked like an all pro WR vs the JV's. He's probably not starting. Just need to take things in perspective

Ham looks to be on track. Sorry I am always over cautious(just how I am),but all these Howie draft picks appear to be coming on already. Brown-seems like Ham is right and he will start right away. Guess his injury was nothing, but the writers have to blow up every little thing. Ricks was a force in college,he just kept getting hurt. If our staff can keep this kid upright he will be a good one. Carter looks like he will be in everyones backfield all year. So there's the rub,if you DT him that opens up a free run at the QB for someone else. The Kelce and Dickerson scares are part of what I was talking about, getting the rust off, using those muscles you haven't used for a few months. If Carter is in the QB's face and Brown and Blank have ball hawk skills, there should be many picks in the middle of the field. I will agree with Ham's wording as "relentless" fits. Love the aggression. Needs controlled a bit/polished a bit,but yeah I have to agree with ham that I like what I see right now. Game 1 is vs the Pats. They haven't been a factor lately. Adding Zeke won't help them much. We know how to take him away. So IMO it's a nice primer for these young guys to wet their feet at the pro level. College is cranking out much more polished kids than even 5 years ago. Can't wait to see Carter in Belicheats backfield all day long. Should be a fun game to watch as well as a great learning experience for the young rooks. Belicheat is smart,he will throw different looks at them all,so should be some great film to view for them after the game ends as far as teaching them. Really the perfect match up from a learning standpoint. This offense should be even better than last year. Losing Sanders will have no effect. Top rate CB's a front 4 that will be crushing O lines and some promising S's. Only position I want to see more of is at LB,seems to me though the S's will also be at their backs waiting to make plays,so it really looks promising to me. I realize this was a practice, but we opened alot of eyes with the play. I'm So ready to rock the NFL even if I am pissed at Hurts for his China deal. But if not him, some other idiot would have done it which is a sad commentary right up there with the USSAWNT,although more subtle LOL. I'm sure Howie is still out there working and I doubt he is done yet. I would think waiting for the coming team cuts. I still believe Coutee would have helped the WR room, but seems the "kids" are coming along well. ST's needs an overhaul. Rant over

Why did they lose Dennard?

Secondary Coach….a good one at that…because he didn’t get the DC job.

And there is the reason why they wanted to keep Gannon...because of keeping the staff together.

Now that Gannon is out and a bunch of new staff....getting Gannon back doesn't help maintain stability on the staff.

What I was trying to tell you all along.

He took Rallis our LB coach to be his DC. We kept everybody else. So would just be missing Denarrd. Rallis would likely be out a job also.

Ok... so... before he left, it would be unknown who he would take with him right?   That's why at the time, they didn't want to lose both coordinators...  and all the staff that might go with them.

That's no longer the case.

No starting job for Shew. Richardson already named starter.

I’d actually think it hilarious if the Cards fire Gannon and keep Rallis on as DC. Might be slightly possible scenario. Figure after Gannon bombs terribly…they go for an O minded HC. So they could possibly stick with Rallis if he gets that side of the ball looking like it’s on track.
