Big year for tanking. Caleb is a massively hyped prospect awaiting the worst team this year. Real incentive to stink this season for any team with no real chance at anything. Not the season to get 6 wins…like it ever is. Huge reward for sucking the most this season.

Caleb is being talked about with a Trevor Lawrence-ish vibe.

Tough blow for anybody thinking Shew would have a shot at a starting gig anywhere. What better setup could he have dreamed of? Got to follow his OC for the easiest transition possible. Huge leg up  having plenty of experience in the league and with his playbook and O. But the developmental barely experienced third QB took him down by PS game 1.

Carter put the Browns stud five time Pro Bowler G flat on his back straight off the jump. Whooaaaaa!

Halfway through the PS and this kid already decking a two time First Team All Pro. If we can keep this kids head straight he’s going to be unbelievable for us!

Josh Sweat dominated today it was reported

Second team Mariota has Stohl, Cleveland and Ward to turn to. Pretty good options to make a QB look good.

Really gotta optimistically hope Stohl has improved on his route and receiving part of his game. He’s going to be consistently facing the weak cover guy. If not almost forgotten and wide open at times.

  • Author

Stohl seemed to be able to catch. Not super soft hands or anything. He’s positioned in an ideal spot on this team. Likely covered by LBs. Would think DCs routinely will take chances of matching Stohl up with a more run defender type player. That’s his strength. So he just needs to produce versus a fairly low level of coverage defender….most likely very routinely.

Predicting we see a large jump in reviving production from Stohl this season. Going on a limb to foresee him more than doubling his best receiving yardage season so far.

Really could be big if Stohl steps up in the Redzone. Be tough for D to deal with.

11 catches for 123 yards last season.

Predicting a big jump for him means

1.  Goddert misses time

2. You don't expect the RBs to get the passing yards

3. Bad season for the slot WR spot.

Goedert does consistently miss time. So I think Stohl steps up those couple of games. Almost guaranteed RBs get more looks this season. Think they purposefully are adding the RB passing game wrinkles. Hearing rumors of Swift lining up out wide. We witnessed how deadly Hurts can be out of an empty backfield. Siri hasn’t used presnap motion nearly as much as he probably should.

Stohl stepping up in the receiving area could go a long ways to adding new dimensions to the O as a whole. But also could have the two TE personnel package in the huddle. That should some weeks/matchups…dictate certain D coverages.

  • Author

If not certain coverages…at least D personnel. So however the DC counters personnel wise the 12 Personnel….we need counters. Assume that Siri has developed tons of tape on how DCs are defending us on this.

  • Author

So gotta believe they’ve cooked up counter play ideas to beat what has been happening. Maybe thinking take the RB(Swift) and line him up out wide. Really all options as a WR. Add in outside stacks. Have Stohl in front of Swift out wide and immediately throw to him.

Heck stack out wide on both sides.

  • Author

Goedert has proven fantastic at these.

Presnap motion usually gives the QB a read on the D.

  • Author

So kind of surprised Siri hasn’t given Hurts that more.

  • Author

They must have noticed a ton of room being created underneath in the passing game. That AJ, DeVonta and Goedert create.

I am hesitant to move QB1’s focus from downfield. Don’t really want him overthinking checkdown.

Hurts hasn’t needed the safety valve of a RB to dump it to. He just takes off.

No starting job for Shew. Richardson already named starter.

AND?

So actually throwing to the RB he’s probably not the best at. Hasn’t been doing it in college or the pros.
