Yes I am saying it. But seems no brainer comparison. Lost quality guys that didn’t get replaced.

Who are the quality guys you feel didn't get replaced?

Lost two good starting LB. I’m high on Dean even, but no way that group didn’t decline. Lost Epps and CGJ starting at S. No way that didn’t decline.

But they were replaced

Sanders was Pro Bowl last season. Decline there.

Yeah..... couldn't disagree more here.

Jurgens looking alright. But gotta think his inexperience and just not having years of familiarity with the guys next to him means something.

This I absolutely agree with.   Regardless of how you try to spin the Hurts fumble as being 99% on Seamulo.   That is my biggest concern with the dropoff or " decline "    Seamulo was very solid.  It's a key position... unlike RB.  Even though any idiot can see they improved at RB.

Both aging CB outside you wouldn’t think will recover as quickly with another year on them.

How does the depth look behind them this year compared to last year?

Replaced the LB, RB and S that had fantastic seasons with bargain basement attempts. Just didn’t clear the cap enough. No money to address those properly.

Outside of your lust for Sanders...  these were positions you didn't like going into last season.  " Howie neglected these"   as you let us know all season long.... now you are trying to spin these guys as big losses?

So you think 2023 squad is better than 2022?

I'll ask the same of your 49ers?

4 hours ago, cunninghamtheman said:

They’ve built an excellent roster. Just the one position that killing them. But it’s not because they haven’t invested trying.

The Eagles have built a better one.  Over a long period.

I don’t just bash Rosie. I just don’t blow sunshine up his bum like you thinking every thing he’s doing is perfect. Cowboys actually managed the cap well enough. They’ve been plenty talented enough of teams. All about Jerry can’t have a HC that he can’t run. Cowboys just been missing HC this whole time. Niners just been missing QB.

Again... you couldn't pick a team in the NFL who managed the cap worse than Dallas.

They drafted well... managed the cap brutally awful.   Their contracts have been awful for the team.

They haven't been able to make moves in free agency for a while...heading into 2022 They had to unload quality guts.

The Eagles for one season in 2021 didn't go ape $h@t in free agency.  They absolutely chose not to pay guys this offseason... any one of the guys they lost could have easily been resigned.

The Eagles mess up personnel moves constantly... they have had the opportunity to miss that much because they manage the cap well.

I don’t remotely idolize either of these teams. But I do recognize reality. Niners years ago I just pointed towards how I agreed more with how they managed the cap than Rosie’s way. Think highly of the coaching they’ve chosen. But all those years ago I pointed out how they got to finish The Championship Puzzle. Had to get a QB. Been brutally killing and wasting such a strong roster. Same I say about Rosie though…on the Championship Puzzle completion on the roster. Job of the GM he has to be capable of finishing his job. Niners have been failing there…because they thrown and wasted so much on terrible QBs. Comes to the point philosophies about not spending on this or that position don’t matter. Drafting philosophy by position don’t matter. It’s a big picture puzzle. Overspend on whatever piece you have to win it all. Get bargains everywhere you can. But you gotta put it all together at some point. Gotta finish.

Yet if Hurts didn't fumble the ball away...Howie would have built 2 Superbowl rosters 5 years apart.

I'll give credit to him for the 2017 team...as he " finished" the puzzle.    Last year however,  with the roster that started the offseason...  anyone would have to be a complete idiot to not recognize the job he did to build that final roster.

To constant complain ( which is what you do about Howie)   if he makes 10 moves... 8 or 9 being good.... you never point then out.  You discuss all the bad ones and try to spin things negatively  ALL THE TIME.

Just look at how you discuss our S position.

You constantly bash Howie for the safety position last year... I ask you out of the 32 teams in the league, who had a better safety tandem last year.  You don't answer with a number because you don't want to show Howie had good S on the roster.

Now to try to spin your argument.... " we lost 2 quality guys at S"

That's why you are tiresome in your constant complaining about Howie and the roster

Yet you give a team with crap results so much credit ...because they blew up  brutally pathetic roster years ago... and have had 2 good years out of the last 7... but they did everything right except the QB?

And you can't admit how brutally bad the Cowboys managed the cap.  Go talk to a Dallas fan about that, maybe you can understand from their point of view.

Bottom line that's obvious... last year it's difficult to find a better safety tandem than the Eagles....and more difficult to find an organization who manages the cap worse than Dallas.    But you post like the complete opposite is true.

Worse than the constant complaining for years about Ziggy being better than Lane.

It’s been a long time the Niners been going through this. Can’t envy that. Obvious to everybody exactly what holds them back. Goal is win Lombardis. When you have a contending team would be nice to keep a contending window open for a few shots at it. Kind of sucked for us we went downhill after we finally won it. All because of previous crap season stuff handcuffing that otherwise top team. And now it sucks that this squad being held back by that loser 4 win teams salaries. If not for that baggage wouldn’t have to dumpster dive for starters at low prioritized positions. Could just afford to get Championship guys there instead.

Boy you really live in an alternate universe.

So in Ham's world.    If Howie managed the cap well... we wouldn't have bad safeties like Blankenship and Brown.

And our RBs this year are not as good as last year.

Apparently Edwards and White are going to be irreplaceable All Pros.

Remember...Howie couldn't replace these guys... because in 2019 he gave Alshon too much money.

SF f@$Ed up the most important position in sports...but they cleared cap a while ago, so they are the organization to admire.

Dallas can't sign a free agent for a decade...had to release quality guys before their contracts ran out...  but the manage the cap well enough.

Lol

So the 1972 Dolphins are the only perfect team in the SB era.   That should make it obvious that nobody is flawless in their decision making when it comes to building a roster.

So nobody is pumping sunshine up Howie's you know what.  Because it's obvious mistakes are made...constantly.

But the way I look at it.  You have 32 teams.   Which means you have 32 GMs...

again NONE OF THEM PERFECT, THEY ALL MAKE MISTAKES CONSTANTLY!!!

Out of the 32 GMs... who would you prefer over Howie?  Simple question.  If the answer is where you can only count on one hand.  And in the same token all you do is constantly complain about him... that should tell you a lot about yourself.

You have zero way of knowing this. If Penny and Swfit stay healthy they will blow Sanders contribution AWAAAAAAAAY. I already showed you the stats you refuse to believe. The fact you don't believe them doesn't change the stats

You don't need stats....the eye test is enough to know Sanders isn't anything special.

SO say they went all in for DeSean Watson, then there is no loot for Caff. So what do you do??? I guess then you overpay whiner Deebo? We tried buying the dream team remember? You have a short memory on that one. Great plan if you had unlimited funds and were the only suitor for every player you want. In real life that doesn't happen. try reality. If it's so damn easy Why aren't you a GM or HC since you have all the answers? I mean every team in the league needs your help

No they don't... really they don't.

Sure stats matter. You have to get yardage and TD's,those are stats that matter. As a team with 1 horse at RB,he(Sanders) was "adequate". Now we have 2/3 horses and those combined stats should end up with more yardage and TD's,the stuff that helps win games. Howe is banking on Swift and Penny staying healthy. It's a slight gamble, but we also have adequate BU's to cover any time away. Gains and scoot maybe aren't stars, but they are solid in their own right. If it came down to those 2 I'm sure the play calling changes a bit to more passing and using TE's more. That's not a huge ask from a coach. Conversely if they both remain on the field,no reason we can't far surpass Sanders contribution. If those 2 stay on the filed,it should not be close. Sanders will get his chance to show off here in Carolina, but he's no Caff LOL,and the loss of DJ Moore hurt.,who I still have man crush on,but who has a great chance to do even better in Chicago. So now Sanders has to prove he is worth 8 million. GL Miles. I'll take our 2 at under 3 million vs his 8 million effort

Because it's obvious with a safety that was taken round 1 and playing well in camp...that all 32 GMs would still trade for CGJ.

It's a shame... years ago I thought he was a good poster with some excellent points... besides the annoying Ziggy over Lane,  I pretty much agreed with everything and got some good info on college kids ...since I don't follow it.   But now the posts are getting too ridiculous.

Nah…not a Niners fan. But agreed with their contract and personnel moves. All except at QB. Crippling. They’ve really blown that final piece in the largest of ways. Just brutal for years. Good for  the rest of the league at least. But they might have actually stumbled on to something with Purdy now. He shows how all that was needed was just decent and competent. A guy not blowing the game.

IDk how much talent does it take to hand the call to Caff or dump off a 3 yard pass to Deebo? I can do that. If that roster is so potent, the QB shouldn't be that important then right? They found Purdy,we found Hurts.AND?????

Saw the 30 for 30 on the 85 Bears last night.   The part where Payton was upset by not given the opportunity to score.  Jim McMahon talks about a play action pass ( they show it) where half the New England team follows Payton and Gault is left open

That's impact without stats.  That's what Sanders doesn't bring.   That's the eye test.   Not " we can replace yardage"

You need context.  On the important plays did Sanders get the important yards?   I don't care about the fluff yards.  The eye test, Sanders brought nothing special here...he was a Penn State player so many people have the blinders on with him.

IDK,I can't micromanage that stuff like he does.Things are 'after the fact" like he would have know better that Lance wasn't going to pan out. He would have gone to someone else and he wouldn't have panned out there either. Trevor Lawrence was great, maybe he still will be,but he hasn't proven himself yet. maybe Trey Lance sucks IDK hard to know after short time. everyone screamed for Manziel and he was a disaster. SF also got Kaepernick, who screwed up himself and the 9ers. ham forgets that stuff LOL. Would Kape have taken them to the SB?? I have no clue, but reality said he wasn't their QB

Read Ham's post and you see the flag.

He called the QB ..." the final piece"

That's the most important position...you can argue in all of sports.  To spin it in a way to make it insignificant...  yet the way he harps on RB, LB and S.

" I prefer a committee ith multiple elite RBs...I just want that standard for this team"

"  I prefer having 4 S because of the new style of defenses today with the bog nickel"

Yet... QB is just that small final piece???

I'm guessing he is a DJ...he knows how to spin.

Agreed,Sanders wasn't a  guy teams had to key in on. he was  good RB,but there are lots of good RB's. Pollard waited patiently in Dullaz. I actually think he is a better back than Zeke,a better back than Sanders. But for us having 1 RB in our divisional rivals works well because we can stop that 1 guy. Stop Pollard, you stop their running game, stop bark, you stop the gnats running game. It will be the same with the Wuss and their "star" RB. With us we can throw multiple looks at you, they can't key in on one guy because if they do we can beat you with another as your example points out
