I don’t remember any Mr Irrelevant pick accomplishing anything before. To have one steal the job from a freshly third overall pick….plus beating out the franchise vet QB is really something noteworthy and I believed unique.

Brady was round 6,not that far away LOL and Purdy is no Brady

McPherson was having his best showing and got injured. Might cost him a spot.

Oh no Nolan hurt his shoulder. But then was gutting it out playing on it. Don’t do that. NFL guys must be tough. But sometimes toughing it out can cause more damage. Or ruin your career. Be crushing to see Nolan ruined like Ziggy.

Yeah why I thought grabbing Coutee would have been a smart move. We have some other WR's out there but Mariota is so bad there is no info gathering going on. Gotta hurt those guys

Maybe an off day for Mar,but Mckee has a much better command of this offense

Really nice TD run by Sermon

That’s why I thought the Toth situation a sneaky important problem. Couldn’t really judge things properly with him at C. Reported whole O picked up once they replaced him. But might be on the side of it was maybe more of an excuse for Mariota. Bad C most could chalk up some of Mariota being out of rhythm…or comfort. Got the bad C out if the way..and Mariota struggling. Much better read on everybody without a terrible C.

Is Covey playing? Been nursing a hammy.

I don’t think you rush hamstring injuries. But different grade levels of those. Covey would like to fight for his roster spot I’m sure. But really he doesn’t have to do anything else this PS. Seen what he does. Probably can judge on whether he worked hard and on positive improvement trajectory.

Covey pretty well already has set the bar though. He earned it last season. So really more about grading every other option. Should just come down to whether others step up and beat him out.

Last player drafted. The very last pick. Faced the franchise guy and the massive investment third overall choice. Purdy earned it. I’m sticking by my thinking I haven’t seen that happen before.

Cleveland out on stretcher. Tyree…not the whole games opponent tonight😉

Mariota hasn’t had many good days for us. Been reported by a few that his accuracy on shorter passes just doesn’t exist.

I wrote him off after last PS game. Maybe the guy wants to fight after all. Love desperate…or at least hungry players.

Fletch said Carter should have been the first pick. That means a great deal.

Well you gotta realize there are two sides to negotiations. Frankly I don’t think Dak is all that either. The dumb move Jerruh made actually was getting Cooper. That drove Dak’s price tag north.

Never a dumb move to improve your team.  The mistake Jerry made was not understanding the market...  sign the QB early, you get him cheaper cap wise as you can use the 4th year to absorb cap hit.  Changes everything.  From there he compounded it by using the tag.

So instead of getting the price of the offseason between years 3 and 4.   He tagged Dak...year 5 salary counted 100% vs the cap. Then he gets the market price between years 5 and 6.  Dumb move, more cap early and more cap later.

Now he is due again soon...lol.

Howie got AJ for Hurts...  he paid Hurts... in 2023 the next 4 years counts $72 combined vs the cap.

Dak costed double ... with the contract starting 2 years earlier.

The idea of trying to make your QB look bad is silly.  You want your players to be in position to succeed.

The issue is writing the contracts correctly... you take care of the player, but you do it to where you minimize the cap hit.

I've been trying to point this out to you for years.

The problem the Eagles had was always player selections... not how they wrote contracts.   Dallas is the opposite.. they pick the right players then eventually screw up their contracts.

Jimmy G deal with the Niners was largest per year money given out at that time.

Cap hits weren't as bad... what is $27 mil in relation to the market?   The one thing you gotta give SF credit...they did the contract correctly...  just was the wrong guy.

Hurts to me ...if he turns out to be average... his contract is still the best I've ever seen written... when looking at the market and how it effects the cap.

Hargrave $84 mil... Hurts $72 mil.   Hargrave market is around $20 per ... Hurts market is $50 mil per...  yet Hurts will count $12 mil less over the next 4 years???

That's pretty good cap management!

Not watching the game. But usually LBs clean up with doing much of the tackling. That room has been my knock the most this season. Adding two vets was needed for depth. But still gotta be obvious Rosie has to make some move for a LB. Which to me I almost see as a good thing. Gotta be real glaring….then he has no choice.

The post game show.  . They were raving about Dean and Ellis.  Highlights looked really good.   Ellis was aggressive and excellent in coverage.  Dean made some good plays including forcing a fumble near the goal line.

I mean really? Can you guys really be slurping up every ounce of Rosie’s I still use the EMB's #1 Cliche so much that you believed in how he handled the LB situation? Completely turned the whole room over to second year player…..that hasn’t played. Not too mention his durability concerns.

Ok... let's review.  To give an honest assessment comparing Howie and the 49ers decision makers.

1.  Results... Eagles did better the last few years.  Both teams 3 seasons with playoff wins..  each with one year losing in divisional round... both with a SB loss...the difference... Eagles win a SB  vs 49ers losing in NFC title game.

Advantage Eagles

Draft picks...  Eagles are in a way better situation.  They made 4 picks before SF picked this year, next year they match the comp picks... but we have the Saints 2nd rounder vs their extra 3rd round comp pick.

Advantage Eagles

Cap space..  Eagles have 3 million more this year... and as of now show $60 million more next year.

Huge advantage Eagles.

It's not " slurping Howie"  it's being realistic.   Very silly to admire anything that SF has vs the Eagles.

It's OK if your style is old school when RB and LB mattered much more.   But please, stop admiring SF when they don't run the main things anywhere near as good as the Eagles.

If Howie and company can actually fix their drafting... these other teams don't stand a chance.

He fumbled too.  Very likable guy... they are playing him on every ST too... but might not be room on the roster.  Everyone is raving about the RB room right now.  They were saying it's a shame for Sermon being in that situation.

But can’t possibly turn to a guy that didn’t get on the field his rookie year. Not as the only real option. Agree to expect him to start. Call the D. All good there. But taking it to the level of him carrying his sidekick out there is just? Extremely optimistic..at best. Perfect situation to pair a vet stud with him. Let Dean run things. But focus otherwise on learning his own job. Should have a player that carries his own weight next to Dean. That’s just bare minimum. Really should be a very quality vet paired with him. How can they go from Dean can’t get on the field all rookie season to….he’ll run the whole D and carry his LB teammate? Can the guy get out there and maybe learn his job somewhere in this thinking and plan? Flagrantly weak plan.

They were all saying it's going to be Ellis.   One of them made a comment.. do you want a guy with 34 career snaps playing with a guy who has even less... Jaws, Brooks and Reub all didn't hesitate....YES.

Cunningham apparently looked decent too.  Jack was playing at the end.  He may not be as high on the list as we thought.

I like when it's new... excited to see all these kids play... really, I'm looking forward to seeing the RBs, LBs and S ... it's ironic,  but I just have a good feeling about these guys.
