RB I’m not thrilled with that room. But at least they attacked it with numbers. Had Gainwell who actually had experience and proven himself. Penny seemed to chose to come here. He loved the situation here enough to come on his prove it contract. So why not let him try and prove something? For the peanuts he accepted. He is banking on getting his payday off this season. Not even sure if Penny will be of much use or not for us. I’m skeptical. But he jumped to come here and accepted  the no pay situation. Was basically his situation regardless where he went. The trade for Swift was the legit move. Seemed likely an understood pre planned decision. Rosie I believe knew Lions were moving Swift and drafting somebody.

All the media is raving about that room.   Probably such a big change in the attitude and the versatility now that Sanders is gone.

Never a dumb move to improve your team.  The mistake Jerry made was not understanding the market...  sign the QB early, you get him cheaper cap wise as you can use the 4th year to absorb cap hit.  Changes everything.  From there he compounded it by using the tag.

So instead of getting the price of the offseason between years 3 and 4.   He tagged Dak...year 5 salary counted 100% vs the cap. Then he gets the market price between years 5 and 6.  Dumb move, more cap early and more cap later.

Now he is due again soon...lol.

Without adding Cooper Dak had nowhere near the leverage to make that all occur. Would have saved tons over four or five years.

Ok... let's review.  To give an honest assessment comparing Howie and the 49ers decision makers.

1.  Results... Eagles did better the last few years.  Both teams 3 seasons with playoff wins..  each with one year losing in divisional round... both with a SB loss...the difference... Eagles win a SB  vs 49ers losing in NFC title game.

Advantage Eagles

Draft picks...  Eagles are in a way better situation.  They made 4 picks before SF picked this year, next year they match the comp picks... but we have the Saints 2nd rounder vs their extra 3rd round comp pick.

Advantage Eagles

Cap space..  Eagles have 3 million more this year... and as of now show $60 million more next year.

Huge advantage Eagles.

It's not " slurping Howie"  it's being realistic.   Very silly to admire anything that SF has vs the Eagles.

It's OK if your style is old school when RB and LB mattered much more.   But please, stop admiring SF when they don't run the main things anywhere near as good as the Eagles.

If Howie and company can actually fix their drafting... these other teams don't stand a chance.

So you love the plan of relying solely on a second year player that hasn’t played. That with all his comfort(none)and experience(none) he can just have any bum thrown next to him to carry while he’s learning his job for the first time. Add in call the D while we’re at it. What could go wrong with that unstoppable bulletproof plan?

Probably just like they raved all about the Broncos with Russel Wilson last season.

Last player drafted. The very last pick. Faced the franchise guy and the massive investment third overall choice. Purdy earned it. I’m sticking by my thinking I haven’t seen that happen before.

Where was Blankenship drafted? Unsung/undrafted guys sometimes come  guys come out of nowhere. Look at Mailata. Why can't that happen with a QB?? Why do you set different standards for different positions? Yes,QB is  the most important one,but noones been wrong before? How many "top" QB's bust out after getting drafted? Biological males PEAK at 19 on average. Some earlier, some later. So maybe an under the radar kid hasn't reached his potential by draft day. Maybe they get drafted and can't mesh with the other players, maybe they hate the cafeteria food,or they get their car stolen. You need to remember back when you were 19(or maybe we should let that ride lol). Finding the right guy is not easy.Sometimes they come from smaller schools and take longer to polish. The key is identifying the skills, character etc. Look at our guy McKee. I would play him right now over Mariota. Time will tell if he can be as good as Hurts, but you should be able to see this right???? SF and every other team tries for these players. Since you research a ton like me,then you would know the talent difference between round 5 and 7 is minimal. Some college guys never transition,or take a longer amount of time to acclimate. I love a good underdog. If we had not taken Hurts and still had Wentz, who would be our starter this year, Wentz or McKee??? Of course we will never know that, but you can see how a "no name" can make a name and oust the "top picks" So Purdy over Lance is the same thing you are ranting about. It will continue to happen,so get used to it.

Why aren't you thrilled???? We have 4 guys capable of putting up numbers on a regular basis. You seem to like the 1,000 yard rusher. Well we all do,but look at what we're doing(AR does this also) Instead of 1 guy with 1k yards we have 4 guys who can get 500 each. So do the simple math and also you have the advantage if one goes down, your running game is not instantly destroyed. Any slack can be taken up even with the one guy missing. Even with 3 guys@500 yards each you have 500 more yards than your "stud" RB with 1k. That thrills me. Add the fact that maybe it's FIVE guys. Sermon showed he can play. His fumble was not good, but face it,he hasn't actually been allowed to play much and even a pre game is more than practicing. he made mistakes,I'm sure he knows. I would rather those lessons be learned in pre than in a SB(this is a Hurts dig and I'm not going to argue about it again lol). Sermon looked every bit the guy who can BU penny. Plug and play baby!!!!! or have your overpaid stud RB go down and become 1 dimensional. I like our plan better and I have no clue why you don't. I'll take the boring 1500 yard stat line over your overpaid stud with 1k yards all day. Also the room will feed off itself. You have 4(maybe 5) guys pushing the others and themselves to be better. I see no downside in that,or you can have your stud room with a guy and 4 "learners" under him that are low quality because you put all your loot into your stud. he will be a stud, the lower players won't make him better. he may help them some, but the room is different than ours.l hope we keep Sermon. As you know Pollard waited for years for his chance. He was worked in slowly and I see that for Sermon. Of course now they have to pay Pollard. Maybe if sermon looks ok we can sign him to a 5 year on the cheap, then we won't need Penny and the process starts over. Not saying that will happen, but you have to consider it. Noone will overpay Scott, nor Gains,we can always sign them as long as we want. I would love to see sermon take more snaps in season. Keep bringing him along and see what happens. From what I saw despite the errors he made he has the tools to be a basher/GL RB and if Penny went down I wouldn't hesitate to put him in. He could be cut, that is certainly possible, but I will let the staff decide that. I also have no clue why you don't think Penny will "prove something" His YPC is off the charts when healthy. The only thing he needs to prove is that he can stay on the field. I'm not worried about him proving he can be an effective runner. Penny and Swfit. Larry Csonka and Jim Kiick??? Who knows, but it should be an effective tandem in my view. I would rather have 4-5 guys who can rotate and keep the position fresh all game long than beating to death our ONE workhorse RB. So,I'm excited to see this in action, the rotation, how each player can be used differently from the other 3/4 and how we can exploit the defensive match-up. Now that we have a top tandem of WR's and Goedert this won't be as hard to do. If we can stay healthy,I would find it difficult for any team to stop us from scoring and we always have the Hurts run threat,so actually you have 5 RB's who can put up 500 yards each. Of course we wont run for 3000 yards in a game, but you can see the possibilities. So yeah I'm THRILLED to see this offense chew up defenses. I'm sorry you're not thrilled. Hopefully as the year goes on you will be

Havent had much chance to see the PS games but from what i've seen Mckee probably should be QB2

He looked sharp. Mariota clearly on his downside

And the same with Hurts.   The object is to win.    Not suck so you don't have to pay a guy....lol

Imagine the mindset.... let's not give my QB anything ... so we don't have to pay him?

But forget how dumb that sounds as a competitor.... think about what would have happened with Dak.

He didn't sign,  he got tagged because he wanted to hold out for the big money.    Why do you think that would have changed?

He had 3 years with Cooper before he signed.    Would your plan be to suck for 3 years so you don't have to pay your QB?

That's what you would have preferred with Hurts?   Don't bring AJ because with a better year now we have to pay him?

Instead we gave him everything to succeed... he went to Superbowl... got paid the highest at the time ...  yet the cap hit is $12 mil less than Hargrave.

Why...because the Eagles know how to write contracts.

If they had Dallas draft results over that time... we would be looking at multiple SBs.  Player decision was thr issue...not cap management.

Again...for the 100th time.

1.  " Howie is not perfect, I do not agree with every move.

2.  In comparison to the league ... I ask you,  which GM would you prefer to have?

3.  In comparison to the 49ers...  the Eagles have the advantages in 3 areas.  ....A.  better results.  B. way more draft capital.   C.  Way more cap space.

In setting up your organization, those are the 3 things big picture that matter. What was my record til now.... and how am I set up for the future.    Eagles vs 49ers .. the Eagles smoke them in comparison. .. all the way around.

Currently the Eagles have a SB title...vs Zero for SF.    Going forward we have way more assets.

But congrats to SF.... they have the best RB, LB and the best results of all time with a Mr. Irrelevant.  They win a free cup of coffee.

Do our local guys watch every practice for Denver, I didn't realize they do that?

Just curious as to where your sources were about Toth struggling during camp... wondering if it could be the same sources that are saying the positive things about our RBs?   Idk... you have inside sources though... or is it you only pay attention to what is said if it fits the  " I called it narrative " ???

I'm no football guy.... but I'll tell you all the guys on the post-game show... Barrett Brooks, Ron Jaworski  ( 2 former Eagles) and Reuben Frank ( the beat writer)  all didn't hesitate to say Dean and Ellis combo... regardless of the experience.

They watch them every day... I do not.

The trivia question the other night for the local Eagles show " Birds Huddle"  on Comcast Sportsnet...

" how many Eagles had over 1000 yards from scrimmage in the SB year of 2017"?

The answer....zero...Hurts led the team with like 830 or something.

So..I'll comment.  For my Eagles,  I don't love nor prefer a 1000 yard rusher.    I like multiple solid options like 2017, that can work together to succeed in all situations.

For my fantasy team, I like the 1000 yard guys.

Mariota plays/runs like Hurts. No change on offense if he came in. But McKee was hitting guys downfield accurately(and those were the 3rd stringers). I love a good passer. McKee looked like the 2. IDC what you paid, you start the best player and so far that is McKee

Yeah... but that's not what's going to happen.  Mariota will get first opportunity to play with the starters of anything happens to Hurts.

It's nice that the kid looks good though.   It's preseason... it is what it is.

Pity, I would hope siri was smarter than that. Maybe Mar is better with the 1's. hard to know, but McKee looks sharp

Book should be cut immediately If he hasnt been already I didnt look

Not really a fan of DaBears, but am curious to see what Fields does(since he was from OSU) now that Chicago has given him weapons. DJ Moore I still have a man crush on,BIG loss for Carolina. I suspect that duo right there will be fantasy gold
