Dang, Noah Ellis was cut after suffering injury. He was looking like a real option as the backup Nose.

yeah, pity,he was looking ok,but playing vs other 2's and 3's,but at least he showed something. Much to my dismay I have Trotter already penciled in for us next draft. I have the eraser on hand LOL. How can Jerimiah Trotter jr play anywhere else? Blasphemy

Isn’t LB Christian Ellis still on the team? I was surprised to read Myles Jack retired. Better find some tough LBs for NE opening day. The  Patriots are going to be a heavy run team this season.

What LBs are still available? Also, remember the cuts now are all at once. There will be some LBs unexpectedly on the street.

And hi again everyone! Almost time for FOOTBALL!!!!!

Yes, as far as I know LB Ellis is still there and he's made some plays. Like Joe, I'm thinking Dean and Ellis will be the starters for NE.

And hello again!

FUN FACT:

Personal life[edit] (Noah Ellis DT)

Elliss's father, Luther Elliss, played defensive tackle in the NFL for 10 seasons.[13] His two older brothers, Kaden and Christian, both played football at Idaho and currently play in the NFL.[14]

Injury release as I believe. Hi Sen,nice to hear from you

The first says, Great linebackers are an intrinsic part of who the Philadelphia Eagles are. The second says, If we stumble into terrific linebacker play at the right price, cool.

Anyone who has paid close attention to the changes in the NFL since the twin dawns of free agency and the salary cap in 1993-94 understands why the Eagles evolved in their thinking. The sport became more pass-oriented, which in turn compelled coaches and player-personnel executives — the astute ones, anyway — to recognize that certain positions were more valuable than others. Because the cap limits what each team can spend, a savvy franchise allocates more money and resources toward those more valuable positions: quarterback, offensive line, defensive line, cornerback, wide receiver. Linebacker, in this era, isn’t one of them.                    Found this nugget interesting

As for the trio of waived/injured players, Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer tweets that the Eagles expect all three players to clear waivers and revert to injured reserve. While Cleveland, Elliss, and McPhearson wouldn’t be able to play for Philly during the 2023 campaign, the Eagles would retain their rights.                So after they clear waivers they should come back on the injured/reserve list, but they had to be "released" since they were part of the roster to make room for other roster spots(before cut down) Eliss and Cleveland both showed alot of promise. Pity they can't play for us this year. But LB and WR depth is a need annually so I believe we retain them and hope they can work through their respective injuries enough to make the 53 later. This does hurt their chance to make the team as we bring in a new fresh set of rookies in the next draft cycle

Lol... I thought you were the guy that pays attention to preseason?      Apparently Noah and Christian are thr same guy now???

So while Ham was sad to see Noah go.... as possible backup NT... although not sure where he would fit on the deep DL..

His brother Christian....has been getting great things written about him all offseason and many think he should start at LB next to Dean.

My guess is Jack was mentally prepared to retire from football before the Eagles called him.    After realizing he was low on the depth chart....and having to play at the end of the last preseason game.... he probably wasn't interested in that role.

4th LB probably didn't interest him to go through the work for that.   Especially when he just probably convinced himself a few weeks back that his career was over....

You guys harp on how the Eagles need LBs... if Jack is #4 on this depth chart, where you experts think we stink, then it must have convinced him to retire.

For Jack....the dude was supposed to be this all world talent.    The fact that he retired pretty much shows his heart probably wasn't in the game.   The fall from grace so to speak....  shows the difference where talent is enough on Saturdays... but in the pro game on Sunday,  you gotta put the work in and have the passion for it, to be at the top level.

I feel even more true at the LB and RB spots....the " glamor " positions in amateur football or old school style.

Today, give me some humble guys at those spots that are hungry to play there.

LOL I rarely pay attention to first names, which would be a problem if we had 7 guys named Jones

Lol...you get birthday excuse... although Ham might be offended because he did say Elliss and playing backup NT.

Depth at LB clearly does stink if the fourth option is a plumber

So the Jonathan Taylor trade opportunity is arriving. About to have joint practice with them. This is the perfect opportunity to figure out a deal to be made.

Why would Indy want to trade him now?  It's not the NBA.

What would you offer as the Eagles?

Keep in mind.... Taylor is relatively cheap now.   He can be tagged next year which gives the team control.  Or set him up for a better trade.... while the draft positions are known.

What would give the Colts the incentive to trade him now...other than for next year's 1st.

For a one year rental at RB? Fourth round pick maybe. He’s clearly above Swift. What did we give up for renting Swift for one season?

Compensation would be much lower to trade for a one year rental RB at the tagged price…than this season at 4 mil. Maybe get a third for a one year rental RB at 4 mil. At 10? Pretty well killed his value. Especially if he is holding out not signing his tag contract.

Very note worthy that Taylor hasn’t been cleared to participate or play yet….,but has been verified that he is making the trip to Philly. Hmmmmm…why do you think that would be occurring?

I’ve been on record that this team just needs Taylor and a LB to make a real go at things this season.

Ok...  I'm asking you from an Indianapolis point of view?

Why would they trade Taylor now...for low compensation?

What's the record....who keeps this imaginary record?

You want my opinion

On the record I discourage any code reds,  but off the record I will tell you it's an important part of our training.
