For a one year rental at RB? Fourth round pick maybe. He’s clearly above Swift. What did we give up for renting Swift for one season?

Detroit just signed Montgomery and used an early 1st round pick for a RB.

" clearly Taylor is above Swift"  ...wow, going out on a limb there?   I will say... clearly Mahomes is ahead of Mariota...

Now that we got that obvious stuff out of the way.  Answer why Indy would give away a cheap RB...now?  For low compensation?

You don't think there are any other teams out there that would give up more compensation and with the idea of signing Taylor long term?

So why rush into a trade to get a late 3rd round pick?

You don't want to trade with a team looking to rent, you trade with a team looking to buy.

Btw.... aren't there joint practices this week in Philly?   Why wouldn't Taylor come with his team here?   You don't think the other Indy guys who are rehabbing and getting ready to play are making the trip?   To get some work in...etc?

Depth at LB clearly does stink if the fourth option is a plumber

He was there to repair cracks in the line, plumbers aren't cheap

Great theory. Yet not based on reality unfortunately. Taylor isn’t going to be interested in extending long term on his contract in a very well publicized terrible RB Market. Also with him coming off his worst season. Rent is the only realistic option. Late third round pick is the peak compensation to get in return for the Colts here. Compensation only goes down from there.

I’ve been on record that this team just needs Taylor and a LB to make a real go at things this season.

Once again who are you cutting or taking snaps from? other guys you already paid?. I agree we could use a decent LB,but RB is fine and Indy is not going to give Taylor away. Unlike US,he is a big part of their offense. If Penny can stay healthy he will be every bit as good as Taylor. Once again do you want 1 RB with 1,000 yards or 2 with 600 each. Seems like a no brainer to me

We gave a fourth in trade for Swift by the way. Just in case that impacts your thoughts on Mahomes over Mariota in any ways.

Very note worthy that Taylor hasn’t been cleared to participate or play yet….,but has been verified that he is making the trip to Philly. Hmmmmm…why do you think that would be occurring?

because he will be participating or playing?????

You are missing the forest because you see some trees here. Taylor is arguably the best RB in the league. So he becomes RB1. Moving Swift to RB2. Swift brings more to the receiving game. Penny hasn’t done anything for you to compare him equally to Taylor that has lead the league at the position. Just a terrible reach by you. It’s like you don’t like the idea of DeVonta and AJ both on our team. Almost like you are suggesting we need to ditch one of them for Quez to takeover their role. Makes no sense to me.

He isn’t going to participate or play. Read the quote you posted in reply to. He’s not coming on the trip to participate….so why is he being brought along?

Not sure how upgrading any position group on the team can be considered a negative?

  • Author

Almost like your whole theory here FL is somehow based on wanting to take Goedert off the field so Stoll can get more receiving yards. Somehow to you that makes us a better team.

  • Author

My thoughts would be more in line with utilizing Goedert and Kyle Pitts.

  • Author

Adding any player to the team that becomes the top of the depth chart at that position group is nothing but a positive. If you believe Penny is just as good as Taylor. Then what’s wrong with him having to prove it? I’m not of your logic at all. I think when we acquire Taylor ….there is a real chance Penny is even cut.

Guys routinely don’t travel that aren’t cleared for football activity. Fairly standard business in the NFL

LMAO Penny had the best YPC in the NFL when he was on the field, so that is more BS "reach" by you. Not a reach at all. Tell me how many yards you think Penny will have this year(this should be good) Give me your best guess. We're not getting Taylor,so stop BS ing about it. Tell me the number of yards Penny will get. I want a number now,no more excuses

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/colts-jonathan-taylor-will-travel-with-team-to-philly/ar-AA1fwUFe  Right lets use a good draft pick on an injured guy. At least Penny is ready to go. Stop being an idiot. I know it's hard, but at least try. In the day of video calls I think the Eagles would know about him without him coming here. if he can't practice, then he can't work out with us anyhow. You really need a dose of reality. He is part of the team,he is coming to support his team and advise(see use the clipboard) the RB's who ARE PLAYING. Yes he wants a trade,no he is not coming here. Let's see how the guy with the top YPC when he was on the field does here,is that ok with you????? No need to rent a guy that wants a long term contract Howie WONT DO IT(because he's not an idiot).

You are wandering aimlessly in the forest with no way out. So give me a number since Penny sucks-how many yards will he get this year???

Don't engage... Indy isn't going to give us Taylor for a late 3rd round pick. That's Ham's unfortunate reality...  maybe he thinks Taylor is going to sign a long term deal in 2033?   Idk...haven't visited his planet yet.

Swift had no value to Detroit after they signed Montgomery to big $$ and drafted RB early first round.   Eagles offered the 4th round pick in 2025... which will be the year any comp pick gets awarded for Swift.    Detroit took the deal.

Indy isn't going to take that deal for their 1st string elite RB.... that they have on the cheap at the moment.  They also have plenty cap space that they don't  need to Taylor.

Zero shot a trade now....before any bidding war with teams looking to sign him long term.

Taylor has zero incentive not to take a long term deal...that's fair any time soon... the kid from Pittsburgh is the perfect example of take the big signing bonus when it's offered if you are a RB.

With a rental it just puts us back into the Sanders position of a RB wanting 8-10 million,so it would be just that, just like what we are doing. If Penny and Swift do well we can give them a little more money, but not 8-10 million. So IDK why Ham keeps this up LOL. The spin is enormous

I just want Ham to answer the question of how many yards he thinks Penny gets. Renting a RB who is already hurt and has zero time working with this team would at best be ready week 4-5 maybe. Then you have to make sure(like penny) he stays on the field. Penny is over his injury and ready to go,and we have decent enough BU's. if we lost 3 of them then I could see a deal, but not for Taylor. I would rather make a deal for my boy Roschon Johnson or another rook that may sit. See no need to spend more on the position at this time

Again....don't engage from an Eagles standpoint...of course accumulation of all the good players would help.. a trade needs to make sense from both teams perspective.. . No shot Indy rushes to trade us Taylor for a pick in the 90s.
