This isn't 1970 Ohio State. Woody Hayes 3 yards and a cloud of dust, this is 2023

Up by two…time running out…are we giving the ball back? I’m specifically talking situational football here.

I’ll take the guy that gets me the first down to win the game…right now.

Wouldn't the 140 yard be getting you first downs more than RB B?

Jesus that's why(for the last time) we got Penny

I’m just thinking of passing to the RBs in all forms. New wrinkle for Siri here.

Yeah...new players with more capabilities allow the offense to add to the playbook.  Very excited to see it

If the RG position can hold....we should be good.

Pick your down, with the RB's we have what "situational" plays can't we cover?

Just a gut feeling... we won't be " killing the clock"  any where near last year.  Last year was such a fluke with the combo of the excellent roster that we had....good job Howie... few injuries...and the sisters of the poor schedule.

I don't look so much at " running out the clock"  as having to move the ball and outscore teams this year.

Take the Indy game last year when we had to come back and score....this year we have more weapons..  Sanders shriveled up like a raisen vs Indy... we should have better firepower now.

We put so much pressure on teams because we could grind on them if we got a lead. It was a factor. Hope we still have such a weapon. But all you need is a lead at the end. Then you want to kill the clock. Or even killing it as you go score to win.

I mean...instead of them using just Gainwell.... now they added Penny and Swift to the mix.

You don’t think that's better than when they just used Gainwell in that role?

Dude.. getting the 3 TD lead in the first place is not normal in the NFL.    That's college ball.     That's the fluke part.

JMO-differ if you want. Penny is as good as Blount on Ajayi

That's how I see it too. This offense can light it up,and they need to as we are a little weaker on defense. Our pass rush needs to get there. I'm not worried at all about the offense

I’m concerned about balance. Throwing to RBs doesn’t counter the pass like rushing. Need the running game to deliver. Our go to best weapon. Can’t have lost that part.

Thats why we have the RBBC less time/snaps per RB means they can stay healthy. We're not pounding 1 guy and why again I believe we keep 5. If you think that is "ridiculous" so be it

Whole team to field. If we need to keep 5 RB to make it work…should have just kept Sanders then. That’s way too much strain on the roster.

Personally,if I am passing and got the lead that way,I don't stop. Maybe I use more high percentage passes, but why stop whats working? We get in trouble because we get conservative TOO early. With this tougher schedule I'm doubting we get into the "stop passing" mode as much

Why do you feel we lost that part. To me we got BETTER

Competition matters.   Not understanding the fluke of the schedule last year and focusing on this idea we need to grind out the clock??

We gotta score.... and we gotta stop the other team.  Will be harder stopping the much better offenses this year. So won't be in position to just grind out clock

Sanders will be put in position to prove he was worth the deal this year.   Much like his rookie year when the bar around him was low.  He caught a few balls...nobody said he couldn't catch.  Consistency and improving wasn't there.

Just curious as to why you seem to talk up Sanders so much?   I don't recall him being so high on your list early on.   What about him really makes you hold him in such high regard?

What stands out about him...  I never saw durability,  stand out in breaking tackles,  shifting,  blocking,  route running, catching...etc?

Not a bad RB at all.  But don't get the admiration this guy got from some of our fanbase..  is it because he was a Penn State guy?   Really just nothing special that I see where there will be any drop off as a unit.

I didn't feel confident In our run game because of him.  He was the definition of irrelevant to me.

He had burst and could make the big play. Actually was good catching also. Clearly was Sanders then a big drop off last season.

OH we MUST have WR 6????

Then you risk him getting poached. We didn't do it last year why would we this year?

Oh well…poach him then. Dumb they did it last year. If somebody poaches our fifth RB…no big loss. Remember also we claimed Sermon last season. We weren’t very high on the waiver list even. More than half the league passed on him.

I would rather keep Sermon on than WR6

4 WR can line up for one play.

Ohh... I get it now.  Why go through the charade.... just say.  If we don't win the Superbowl...I am looking to blame it on moving on from Sanders.

Because there is no way legit football fan feels better about his team with Sanders than the combo of Swift and Sanders plus Gainwell having more experience.

We don't have as good or better O line????

It’s arguable. We’re biased. But Seattle Oline run blocks always under Carroll. Every year they have a couple RB go down. Next guy comes in killing it.

So our Oline sucks?

C’mon man! Nobody said that. Just watch Seattle Oline run block. They are really good at it. That’s all. Geez.

So what changed..  RG and RB.   What has your concerned.

RB

Last year we had 5 WR's and 4 RB's

I saw Sanders as a guy who would run through the big hole....does that make him special?    Clearly....very clearly not the guy for the key play...it's why they took him out.
