Rosie kept ST studs…that didn’t give value to the D or O otherwise. Shaun Bradley..,and so on. Covey chosen to return. Even brought in Allen clearly towards ST. Then doubled down to cover for terrible performance by the ST to bring Ellis and another guy in to overcompensate for the lack of results.

Me neither, we've had the ST players except P

No other coach has more responsibility to recruit and bring in talent than the ST coach.

Never get any returns. Coverage always been questionable at best.

I could see an excuse if Rosie just chopped all ST only players when he’s made these rosters. But not what he’s done at all.

I’ve believed to have witnessed Rosie feel the need to go a step further for the ST than otherwise he should have to,

Even still the results have stunk

  • Author

To blame Rosie you’d have to be saying we should have drafted a return only specialist and a P.

About all that hasn’t been done….by the GM

A coach that can’t identify a solid starting P, teach coverage well enough AND can’t identify a return option? That’s like 3/4 of his job failing here.

Elliott is the most important ST phase. He’s incredible! But I don’t attribute any of that to ST coach now.

In his third season the ST coach should have developed nobodies to be ST studs for him.

We had to even invest more in ST specific players to be added each year. Basically having to overcommit to ST specific players to overcome the bad ST coach.

This is the exact opposite of what they were saying.  But I agree with you about Elliot.    Really punter and returner too...I don't think the coach is much of a factor.     I think the other 10 players need to have some ability though.   Other than trick plays.. the players need to do the job.  It's mostly simple blocking and tackling..desire and ability, something the coach can't really teach.

Fipp didn't all of a sudden learn how to coach....Sproles and company helped... just a little

Could cover kicks with what we had before this regime…before Ellis had to be added to save things. GM having to give this coach extra attention even. After bringing in two known quantity specialist studs. Just stopped the bleeding of terrible. Not even talking raising it to mediocre even.

It’s up to the coach to identify and unearth talent. ST more so than any other positions. No investment was needed to bring in a decent P. What….we solely blaming Rosie on the ST performance  now? Nope….Rosie had several ST studs rostered for him. Even went extra to bring in additional ST stud because the ST coach wasn’t getting it done with the normal compliment of ST devoted players.

Really...I think they need to get Hurts involved in the talent search.   Just like he made the discovery of AJ Brown at WR.

Dude...but imagine being a 49ers fan how disgusted you would be....looking at the major idiot decisions they have made over the years...  giving away picks and cap space galore...nothing to show for it.

ST can all be coached. Also found on this planet without paying millions or drafting so highly.

I need to complain like a bee otch... do I sound smart.

Am excellent coach can watch a guy play Rugby all his life and identify he’d be a stud NFL tackle if he got his hands on exposing him for the first time to the job.

Really... so Fipp magically figured it out that one year?

Watch... I'm calling it now.     The gambler dude we picked up from Indy...  when he returns for us next year.. watch how all of a sudden the ST coach is good.

Who are the ST studs on the roster now?

The Niners you do look down on….is a weak position for you to be at. Niners have plenty of past history and glory to feel pride in. Much more parades than we would know about. Even got to the SB not terribly long ago. Finally found their starting QB. Niners aren’t disgruntled fans at all…right now. Every Niners fan I talk to is focused and believing this is the beginning of their time.

Yeah they built an excellent franchise from top to bottom except one key position.

But now they have their guy…cheap…for years
