Interesting stat from yesterday.

He may be a keeper. Curious to see how TJ Edwards graded, but I felt that the linebackers didn't have a great day, but were much better than the dline or the secondary, which is sad considering how much we pay the dline and the secondary.

Well, assuming we continue this downward spiral and do not win the division, we should end up with pick 6-8. If we have a shot at a stud LB then PLEASE grab him!, If not please get a stud SS or D-Line or trade back for more picks and get the 2-3rd ranked LB.... We need allot and it is well past time we start middle of the road players at LB.... We cannot stop the run and defend cross patterns because the LB's just are not good enough....

Where was the help on the Jones TD run? That is a LB's job and we had no one...? I do agree that Singleton may be OK, but we need a stud to line up next to him. LEt's fix this position for the next 5-7 years!

Edwards got blocked, but I think Sweat was the problem. He crashed down when he should have played contain.

One problem we have is that our backside DEs don't play contain, so they get beat on misdirection and zone reads. Schwartz made the adjustment later in the game and we did much better.

As far as LB, Taylor may be the guy. He has first round athletic ability, he just needs experience.

This is a great point. Also, since we were having success running the ball, rolling out off a fake handoff would have opened things up.

Also, we targeted Bradberry more than any other corner, which only makes sense if you are trying to lose a football game.

Bad play calling. Bad decisions by the QB. Also, this.

We needs better play from our good players, on both offense and defense.

Doug's press conference today was a trainwreck.

I have always dismissed the idea that his job was in jeopardy, but he is clearly under a lot of pressure.

I don’t believe Doug is in any serious risk of losing his job but clearly his and Howie seats have to be getting hot.

Can’t blame injuries every year yes we have been hit hard but then it makes you question the guys signing the players and the medical staff coaches everyone for it to be such a consistent thing been 3 years now we have been severely hampered by injuries

The word that comes to me there is MEDIOCRE. That could be generous lol

He needs to be, this was "Chips" replacement . As bad as Chip was, he kept guys on the field. Ped can't even do THAT

Because we send guys away that prosper on other teams, because we have no clue how to use them. At present rate,I don't see Peds contract being renewed

IIRC Doug is signed through 2022.

Things we are missing- I'm just a fan, not an analyst, but I see so many things we lost from the 2017 team.1) Fire- we have none, unless you count dumpster fires. Come out flat, play like crap for 30 minutes. Go in at the 1/2. Forget what little DID work in the first 1/2, experiment and hope some of that crap you threw at the wall sticks. By the 4th 1/4, we may be onto something, but by then we are down 17 points. I don't want to hear the covid excuse BS. I have seen more fire from sandlot players. 2) RB 1/2 punch. Seems we usually have this, why did we go away from it? Like Sanders(usually), Scott is ok, but he is a BU. Even with them together it's not the same. Before we had 3 good ones with different skills.Your RB, then guys like Blount that could hammer you all day, then Sproles who made your defenses look silly at times. Clement looked promising at first, then he faded off-WHY??? So now or "future RB's" are all grade 3 prospects. Why do we keep them around? If Clement sucks cut him, Holyfiled? If he can't at least sub in a few plays by now,he ain't worth keeping either. Killins was a RUNNING BACK,so we tried to force him into being a WR, then cut him(DUH!!!!). I hope he kicks our asses someday. 3) Our offense is built to score 30+ points with a defense that's "good enough". (see the Peyton Manning/Marvin Harrison Colts). If we cannot score 30,we are not winning the game (and we aren't). The beat up O line try their best, but the constant moving players around means noone knows diddly or can get in any rhythm or knowing the guy next to you. IMO Mailtata is my future LOT, PUT him there and LEAVE HIM THERE. If Dillard is better, let him BEAT Mailiata out(not the other way around) 4) Defense-no longer a dominant front 4. We used to pressure QB's all day, enough so that the secondary did not need to be outstanding. They could be average and we could get away with that, but the pressure is not there and our secondary is indeed NOT outstanding.Slay was an ok pick up,but he can't do this alone. 5) Wentz is not the superman we thought he was. Of course we don't actually know if he is or isn't because the "weapons" we got him cannot get out of the mash tent, and Wentz right now looks as flat to me as Foles, Bradford or pick your other iffy Eagles QB. Getting Hurts in round 2 was the stupid mistake. Thats a big draft investment for a guy that plays the same 2 plays once a game. I like the kid fine, but that is a draft FAIL IMO.I'm sure we will lose him and he will be famous elsewhere. I'm gonna stop here, not because I don't have more to say,but because there are TOO MANY PROBLEMS to put in 1 list lol

yeah Chip was under contract also. There has to be some kind of "OMG you suck" clause in there.

My thoughts are- Lurie has to be livid by now. BTW who is the new OC for the Gnats? OH yeah that guy we all hate lmao

Time for that familiar annual anthem "yeah but just wait till NEXT year!!"

I hope not... if they are smart they take a 2 year approach to building it up the right way again.    Not going to fill all the holes in one year, gotta play the young guys to see who can play and what role you think they can fill.      Like for me... I want Fulgham to prove he can be a #2 starter on the outside, like an adequate one.   Lets see what Reagor and these other young weapons can do, lets see if any of these young OL are ok.. like will they be starters or more so backups?   Defense so many questions marks, I think in 2 years we may see a whole new group.

As for " wait til next year"   Been a while since we went that route before finally losing in the playoffs.   Otherwise, we can say 31 teams every year say " wait til next year"  I'm not waiting for anything though, we still have 7 games left where I am more concerned about finding out what players can do, more so than if we win.   As for " this year"  I think it comes down to the last 2 games.  Another division team will have to win 6 games, if we are able to win the last 2.   So we can lose the next 5, and I still think it won't matter.

Do we prefer to lose to get the better draft pick?   IDK, I will tell you then, because if it's Alshon, Ertz, Peters and company.. maybe I want them to lose... if it's Fulgham, Reagor, Mailata in there, it will be hard for me to root for them to fail.

WR- Goodwin we will get back. IDK how good he is on THIS team. He will basically be a 'free" player due to his covid opt out. IDK if we HAVE to keep him or not, but even if we do,he's not a bank breaker so NP there. Hightower I like, a WIP, which isn't a shock where we got him. Ward should be at least an adequate BU. Jjaw-there's the door, GL son. Fulgham-keeper. How we lucked out here is beyond my comprehension, but I will take it. Reagor- I hope he pans out to be what we need from him-jury still out. That being said,I say bye to Djax and Alshon and probably Ertz as well. Thats alot of wasted money off the books. Now don't be stupid and repeat that!!!! grab ONE WR in the next draft. We have like 4 round 6(who cares) picks. I would parley them ALL for a round 4 pick if I had to.Take your added WR there. There are enough with talent to work with at that point. RB- find a round 5 prospect, but really we need to go out and sign a FA in the off season.Since I wont be spending insane amounts for pine riders at WR,I can afford an ok one. He only needs to be a tandem guy with Sanders, no need to spend a boatload for a stud. Scott is fine as a BU who can be rotated in at times. as 93 puts it,we need a "squiggly". I thought Killins would be that guy,but we blew that already. again,no star needed, just someone who can punish defenses on a few plays a game and who can be a viable out of the backfield RZ threat -not expensive. I know how much Joe loves my mocks(HAHA),but really we all know what we need in rounds 1,2,3. not rocket science, but we will find a way to screw that up. So,my focus now is locating those 4-5 round players we need at WR and RB. With so many things wrong here,it's difficult to get all this done when we should have been doing this all along since 2017.There is also a late QB I would like to get(if we have a 6 left of 7th). As I said, you stat guys can shoot stats at me all day. I am looking from a fan perspective, because lets face it,fas pay the bills no?

Will he even be back? I mean it was no lock that Goodwin was making this roster this year so I'm not sure we can say he will be next year.

No clue.Like I said IDK how the contract is worded. According to covid rules we pay him a little to sit out this year, but his contract he SIGNED is valid next year. So it would be our call to keep him or not,but we already have agreed to pay him a year(not this year).IDK if "opting out" means you can back out of the contract or not.Depends how it's worded. At any rate he didn't cost alot and he should at least be an adequate BU at worst

Say what you want, but with Wentz's poor play, he is losing this team. Confidence lacking in the offense is now getting into the Defenses heads. They will stop killing themselves physically, because it's "not worth it" Although we could use another RB and maybe a WR next draft, I take those late. LB, CB, DT gotta be the tops needs on my list. I like our young WR's, I would add one more.We will have Goodwin back due to covid. He can be that "vet" we always seem to NEED around. Other teams don't NEED them, they play their guys, rooks or no rooks. Jjaw is a bust (there I said it) and Reagor, well the jury is out, but his speed doesn't mean diddly that I can see. Wentz needs to say BYE BYE to his "buddy" and get REAL help from a coach, because as the players are improving around him, he still looks crappy

UHHH... so the defense gave up 2 ,long drives to start the game.... didn't have anything to do with Wentz at that point.   From there they game up 13 points the rest of the game.  With that logic, they should have started off playing good D, they slacked off as the game went on.  The beginning was the worst D they played.  Giants scored quickly in the 3rd Q, but that was really 2 plays outside where it was one defender at a time, and they hardly looked like they gave up, just got beat.

Now, I might say, if the coach keeps calling the same stuff... stuff works, but stop calling it, then stuff doesn't work, and keep calling that.   Go for 2 points when you are down 4... like dumb stuff like that, I can see the coach losing the team... but no way should the dude that is constantly taking a physical beating and all the blame be the one who loses guys like Fulgham, Reagor, Hightower who haven't proven " D##k yet in this league.    " I got you right here with the best first 5 games of any WR...etc"   he's still a nobody that needs to prove himself as do all the young players.   The young guys have opportunity for playing time now, they need to worry about their own paychecks.

If we gave up 2 long drives, then why didn't we answer their first drive? Yep,that is an OFFENSE issue. Supposedly, we got back some BETTER GUYS,and we beat this team 3 weeks go with a mish mash of oddballs playing positions they weren't used to. SO now we get guys back, facing the same team we did 3 weeks go, but it's totally different now? and BTW I am not talking about one game. Wentz is losing this team as far as being a leader. I don't see them coalescing around Wentz. They are going through the motions for a paycheck and that isn't good enough for me. The "we need to do better" pressers I no longer watch SSDD. Stop saying it and DO BETTER

Well he sure as hell isn't gonna get experience  sitting on the bench

BTW the decision to go for 2 was indeed bonehead. I think it was Ped's attempt to try and instill some kind of confidence on offense. Of course it failed, which probably destroyed the very thing he was aiming to do, so although I can call "bonehead play", I can understand why did tried it. If successful may have been a little spark we needed

Oh I think he'll be an option for next year. Like I think the team will bring him back for TC next year but does he even make the roster? I'm not sure he's even good enough. But maybe he will be.

He seemed ok in SF, they just had better WR's at the time, so they turned him loose like we do at times to let him play "somewhere". So,although I can't say for sure,he was cheap and should be at least a BU,unless our scouts suck worse than we imagine they do lol. IDK can he be any worse than Jjaw?
