So I’m seeing going down like: a few teams were willing to deal for Ertz. Rosie gambled hoping maybe he could make the offer just a bit sweeter if Ertz had a good game...to counter his bad season. Ertz got hurt in the game instead. Offers obviously went down...or likely completely disappeared. Rosie held out hope for a day or two that he could still pull something off. He couldn’t. Placed Ertz on IR.

Zach Ertz just did an interview declaring Wentz the best player he’s ever been around. He points out that Carson isn’t a rollercoaster of emotions every day. Win big or lose he’s consistent day in and day out. Worth checking out. Obviously brings confidence to the admitted bad situation.

Kracz:

"Interest in Eagles tight end Zach Ertz was percolating, and a source indicated that at least two teams, the Green Bay Packers and Baltimore Ravens, made offers right before he was placed on Injured Reserve on Oct. 22."

Kracz's report jibes with a report last week from Albert Breer at Sports Illustrated. Breer reported that teams had made "calls" about Ertz

Kratz report follows up with this after your quote:

A trade of Ertz doesn’t seem likely now before the Nov. 3 trade deadline with him expected to be out with a high ankle sprain until at least mid-November, if not longer.

I’m seeing it go like this offers weren’t worthy trading him especially after injury no reason to over complicate things simple easy logic usually the right one

Yea because he is on short term IR and you can’t trade a player on short term IR lmao offers likely were low to begin with teams trying to buy low from a bad team and got worse after he was hurt... Howie likely was like probably get better value in the off-season

More like Ertz kind of sucking and trying to force the trade hand because we’ve all been seeing he wasn’t going to get the new money he wanted here...and now.
All that doesn’t matter now though. Ertz can’t be traded anymore this season.

They can unload him this offseason.  He should still fetch us a 3rd or 4th - he may be having a down year but teams know what he can do and has done consistently over several years.  Should have traded him this past offseason when his value was at its peak.

Anyway this team is way over the 2021 cap. Gotta cut somethings. Look down our top salary players and tell me what weight you are cutting? Super Bowl win was a great personnel turnover. Trying to repeat? I was all for ‘going-for-it’ in 2018. But...that’s not the direction things went. Need(ed) to not double down on some of these older players. So 2019....2020 were in the wrong direction. At least 2020 we had a good amount of draft picks to inject rejuvenation. Weren’t able to get much out of Dillard and JJAW. Got some draft picks coming up that should (really really need to be) big. We are setting up for a pretty good draft position. Clear the cap...infuse youth. Then you have something going forward.

I’m about saving the money. Are we winning the SB? Gotta pivot to Goedert and most likely an incoming draft pick. We seem to be pretty good at getting TE drafting.

So even if we got a fourth for Ertz....you snag that and move thatmoney.....sold

I’m not anti-Zach. He’s kicked butt for us.

Jacquet signed to roster. Guy has earned a shot.

I don’t want Jacquet to have to deal with Landry though. Definitely need Slay on Landry.

The #Eagles have promoted CB Michael Jacquet to the active roster. They've also signed RB Adrian Killins to the practice squad.

Speed kills glad Killins is back....Thought Jacquet played well got good length seemed to be around the ball a lot. Like this kid.

Parsons goes in the top 5. Not sure we will be there but it is possible the way we are playing....

Depends, some QB's will go,top linemen etc. I was figuring top 10,so not too far off. Besides there are 2 others that would suit us. I would not move for him. But we need a decent one. I pointed out Parsons because he is a "homer" and Howie loves those. I think if we have a shot he will go. LB, DL 1/2 in either order, corner in 3

I wish we would stop trying to make a WR out of Killins. Although he CAN catch, we should use him as a RB/WR like we did Sproles IMO

Even if we do, what do you think the odds really are Howie would go LB??  I probably have better odds at banging Kate Beckinsale.

Miracles happen, except maybe in your case HAHAHA(and mine as well)

Had Ertz not gotten injured, Green Bay and Baltimore both would have been logical potential landing spots if the Eagles made him available for trade.

Yeah both would be/should be concensus playoff bound teams

Except at the time, we thought this team was "going places". We still are............. DOWN the whirlpool, but that is hindsight now. We DO bring TE's along pretty well, so trading him and grabbing another young TE and handing the reins to Goedert would be fine by me

How does the covid BS affect the cap? I'm sure they will have to adjust for it in some way. You have players opted out you are paying(although not a big amount). Still, there should be some adjustment coming

As I said though,if you want to be better than team B you gotta pay SOMEONE. If you try to go cheap every year you will be at the bottom every year(which we are anyhow lol)

I'm in,we need a 4th in a bad way. It would be difficult to watch 60 picks go by while you pick your arse lol

I suspect Jacquet will be on Higgins
