Well, he signed for 9 mill a year. I am sure the Eagles could have gotten Hicks for less. Rowe was basically given away for a 6th rounder (possibly a 5th but never happened). In both cases they could have done better in my mind...

IDK we held onto Jones awhile, them promptly let him walk. Then you get guys like Hollins who we held onto awhile, who do ZIP. IMO Jjaw falls into this category. If it's me, let him walk for the additional roster space. I can find a late WR in the draft that can do better. As Kenny Rogers said "know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away, know when to run" lol

All the linemen are always good when you grade them individually  it seems.  Collectively the line stinks with being able to pass block well for 2 plays in a row.

I wonder if missed assignments count vs the " grading"  ??? Every media guy I heard seemed to think Opeta struggled though

I don't know where they are getting that he struggled. On the tape it is pretty clear where the pressure came from and who got beat, and it was generally some combination of Kelce/Pryor. And while I don't put a lot of stock in PFF ratings, he did grade out pretty well. Sometimes those ratings are off, but in this case I think the tape matched what was happening on the field.

There was a play when Wentz tripped over him on a key third and one, but it's hard to know if he was at fault or it if was Wentz. But if it was his fault, it's hardly a capital offense for a guy playing in his second game.

We need so may things I didn't think we'd need. Around pick 14 is Smith WR from Bama. I had him tagged for us last year (as a round 2 pick). He stayed in school and would have had to compete with Ruggs and Jeudy in that draft. I would love to have this kid, but I know we should go elsewhere(pity)

I have also seen read and heard multiple people saying Opeta struggled. Tend to make my own opinions but at the same time if that many people saying he was struggling must be some truth there.

So for some fun off the wall theories for the board was reading how Eagles going to have interest in Lincoln Riley Sooners HC in the off-season(yes the article basically saying we fire Doug)

Stated Riley play a massive role in the Eagles draft decisions.
Draft his QB Hurts in the 2nd round and apparently he had a hand in the drafting of TCU Reagor who he was high on.

My round 1 pick

It seems like the players we let walk suddenly contribute with a new team.

Is it the player or is it the system/coaches?

Opeta was really good this past week.

Better than the known Brown. Have we cut his a22 yet?

This is tricky territory. Some guys just need a fresh start. Some are a better system for elsewhere. And yes...some are bad decisions. Sidney Jones couldn’t stay healthy. Hicks couldn’t stay healthy. Tough to say it’s a bad decision to let guys go that aren’t durable for us. But then we get cast offs like Fulgham that work great here. Lions and Packers bailed on him. Jenkins wasn’t considered great...then became a Pro Bowler here. Robinson(our slot corner for our SB run) was great here for one season.

Well, for Jones, we all knew is was going to be out for at least a year. After that it takes some players time to get over the injury. It did not help that he got re-injured for sure. But he finally started to show signs at the end of last year. I know I wasn't the only one who saw that. Yet he wasn't given enough time on the field to really see what he could do. Then he gets another injury and we cut ties. Just feel that we bailed on him before we ever gave a legit shot. Wentz got hurt 3 years in a row and yet we gave him a huge contract.... Just saying.....

Sidney was here for three years...pretty much injured the whole time. Would have been nice to see him with the new Secondary coach. But there were no PS games. It was a messed up TC even. Hard to judge people on a regular scale. How was Manuel supposed to judge him? In the few practices they had in TC...that was it.

I think the decision to move on from Jones was the right one. And even if it turns out that actually he can be a good NFL player there was still good justification to cut him when they did. But I do agree it would have been nice if he could have worked for a year or so under the new DB coach.

I think the mistake was cutting Rasul as well. It left us really thin at outside corner and the team now is one injury away from doing god knows what on game day.

System Coaches( and health staff). I can't blame the med staff, they get them AFTER the fact

Except he's healthy now after we put all the work in lol

It probably was the right call for the reasons you mentioned. When we drafted him it was under the assumption he would be down a year and maybe a few games. But the re-injury happened. I just don't understand that when they leave, not many get injured on their new teams. The is sad and scary to me. Then we get Djax, who is always injured when he is HERE.(not sure if he was injured anywhere else?)

You are the first one to b17ch when a guy is riding pine and not contributing. Jones was that guy the whole time. You are always saying how we should cut a guy just like him....until he goes elsewhere and does well. So maybe that should be a lesson in patience. Not everybody shows their best their first season or two. Brandon Graham comes to mind. I saw the potential in him and thought he was worth keeping and working with. Many wanted him booted as a bust.

Looked like Jacquet had earned a roster spot during TC. Pedey even mentioned him doing well. Craig James was looking good. I didn’t like the offseason plan that much for the secondary. To me, Maddox was our FS. McLeod was affordable enough to keep...so I was ok with that. But they obviously were scared to go into the season with Douglas, Jones and James battling for the starting outside job. LeBlanc was great to last season in the slot. So him starting was looking good. Bringing in NRC wouldn’t have been a terrible call....as a backup. The Slot Sl*t ....,or whatever they called him. I was fine with moving on from Jenkins. He was making noise about wanting more money. Honestly with the social upheaval all throughout the country I was a bit worried about him as our team leader. So he needed to go. He clearly would have rather been in New Orleans anyway...so don’t let the door hit you.

Of coarse then Jacquet was cut and didn’t even make the PS. James got hurt to start the season and hasn’t been a factor.

Why would Hicks sign for less? He just finished his rookie contract. Hadn’t made any real money yet. I wouldn’t pass on that first big payday. It’s different once you’ve made millions. Then you can afford to be more choosy.

Looking at our schedule it’s going to be tough but at the same time none of the teams we play seem unbeatable either.

Sure, and the 9-7 NYG beat the nearly unbeatable NEP - don't see it for us, then again I do - it's so f'n frustrating! Esp this yr when we could all use some good news. I'm tied between going for it and we're just going for a t-shirt, worse picks, worse schedule. The realist in me says NYG wins the div.

It’s going to be tough for better or worse that tie is huge in our division race... Pretty sure I read that even after the L to the Giants we have a 1.5 game led in the division

Just feel w/ Covid this season already has an * on it. Feel it was a prime opportunity for a partial rebuild - then we did nothing but lose to the gnats. Schedules don't mesh - gnats win. Not where my heart is, sure where my $ is. Then again, bet against Ne last week, only lost on that and Buffalo. No such thing as almost perfect. Would like the natural low picks instead of trading for them.

For those who can. We're not going away this Thanksgiving. All the money we set aside for the trip back to PA - and then some - we bought food that a friend shopped for us ( we haven't been in a grocery store since March ) and donated to several pantries. Some people already had it worse then us - I've been there. I've lost jobs, slept on the streets and know what real hunger is. It does not have to be this way - please give - not money but good, healthy food.

I will agree there is a fine line between patience and coddling and we have discussed this before. We seem to NOT KNOW the difference. SO IF in fact we saw his potential,WHY would we let him(Jones) go after all that effort????? if we thought there was no potential,WHY KEEP him as long as we did? So we should have  kept Hollins by your standards? I mean 4 years from now, he could make some plays. We can't spot that difference.Hindsight is wonderful.I would rather be AHEAD of the curve

I go to the grocery store all the time, why do you have people shop for you? Thats insanity lol. I will be having Thanksgiving with my family as I always have and always will, and will also have CHRISTMAS dinner. I constantly donate to veterans all throughout the year, not just on holidays
