Very possible that Lane, Kelce, Cox, and Graham retire at the end of the season. While i don't follow the cap rules it seems to me that would clear quite a bit of space. Really justifies some of these 1 year rentals if they work out and Howie can sign them to an extension.

Looks like it's not just me, the officiating seems to be getting worse. Like everywhere else in the world there are more cameras with more angles, many more than what they show on tv replay. On one hand if every infraction could be challenged the game would be too long, networks wouldn't support that. Many calls are subjected as well. Then there are all the missed calls. It's about time the NFL had full time refs who undergo thorough training. Also don't see why they can't keep the same 3 challenge flag rules but expand what can be challenged.

The offside call on Dickerson was obviously Kelces left hand. Had it been Dickersons hand we would been looking at the palm of his hand and not the back of his hand.

Blankenship should have been called for the face mask, the roughing the passer shouldn't have been called, neither should the lining up in the neutral zone on the tush push - esp when kelce was the only one wearing the long sleeved undershirt. None of those were as bad as some other games this weekend where bad/no calls determined the outcome of the games.

Kelce, Graham and Cox ...have void years after this year,  they are already on the books ...we have to replace them anyway.   Lane isn't going to retire yet.

Jones back to the PS

Reffing keeps getting worse because they keep adding rules, most of which are judgement call rules. AT what point does the "crown" of the helmet become the side of the helmet? Your opinion may differ from mine and that can be the difference of targeting or not. So when you have "undefined" rules, then it's down to an individual refs OPINION. Offsides-techically to be offsides your hand would have to be IN FRONT of the nose of the football not the back. Everything else uses the front nose of the football except this??? WHY??? TD"s are decided by the FRONT of the football breaking the plane. First downs are decided by where the nose of the football is. The chain measure to the FRONT of the football. WHY is this different(the offsides). Seems very simple to me. The problem is,on the snap the nose of the football is raised up,but not at 90 degrees.more like 45,so from a side view it should be clear if  hand is past the NOSE of the football. The refs are under a barrage of rules now. As bad as the reffing has been they should have 6 challenges per 1/2. 3 challenge flags and 3 blue flags to challenge NON calls(no time outs lost if you lose). if a refs calls(or non calls) are reversed more than 30% of the time, they need fired and replaced, even if that happens during the game(they have alternates). I'm still at a loss with all the new helmet innovations there are still concussions. With these new rules many of your HOFers would not be in the HOF because they would have been banned from play. They should make PI calls 15 yards like college. When QB's just wing balls up because they are in trouble what is the defender supposed to do? It's a CHEAP first down that can be any number of yards, and yes those massive yardage amounts can change games. PI should be a 15 yard penalty like every other big call. I still opt for putting nano chips in the ends of the football. We have overhead cameras to use on a grid of the field, there would be no mistakes on those spotting calls. It would tell you down to the 1000th of an inch where the ball was. We have the technology,USE IT

When do we start to be concerned with the turnovers by our team? Right now we are finding ways to win great but turnovers are a recipe for disaster and we have been turning the ball over a ton recently

Yeah,Hurts needs to get out of "French mode" carrying it like a baguet of bread. That will be trouble down the road. Not alot you can do about tipped balls, but he should know better by now how to carry it. He was 1 handing it on the SB drop, you'd think that would have been a wake up call. Gotta take care of the rock

We have 11 turnovers in 7 games this season that little more then 1.5 turnovers a game so far. Need to get better at protecting the ball

Only 6 teams have more turnovers then us this year we are tied with another 5 teams.

Have a -2 turnover differential which would be tied for 18th in the league.

Signed DT Noah Eliss and LB Brandon Smith to the PS

OT Obinna Eze and TE Noah Gindorff released

Offsides is a neutral zone infraction.    Can’t be in line with any part of the ball...you on your side,  me on mine type of thing

Fix the obvious ones we all see. Not the minor face mask brush Bradberry had on Cedrick Wilson. Wilson most  likely doesn’t catch that ball anyway. The bogus roughing the passer call on Hurts…..fix that. Someone calls the official and says pick up the flag. Not hard.

Trouble is 50% of the people on this site will disagree with me. So, it will stay status quo.

Well...nobody on this site has any influence on the rules...lol

Right everything else is by the front of the ball, this is by the back, not consistent

The USFL does that, they call down and say "you got that wrong look at it again LOL"

Yeah it is...because there is no neutral zone on any other part of the game except for where you have to line up.  Makes perfect sense.  There should be a ball length between the teams.   Your side and my side.

Nope. the nose of the ball is where the line between the teams is,like when you get a first down. Therefore the offenses side of the field is anywhere up to the nose of the football. 99% of the football is BEHIND the line,so it's not offsides unless your hand extends beyond the nose of the football, just like it's possible to have 99% of the ball BEHIND the GL,only 1% has to break the plane,or when they measure for a first down, only 1% has to cross the line. The chains don't measure to the BACK of the ball

Right...the defense goes up to the nose..can't break the nose of the ball.   The offense has to be behind the ball....the ball itself is the neutral zone. Correct.

Except the offsides call was against our offense and his hand was nowhere near the nose of the ball,so once again this is inconsistent with every other measure being the nose. Now if you claim the entire ball is in the neutral zone, then again that is inconsistent with every other measurement.99% of the ball should be in the offensive zone since the tip/nose is where the demarcation took place. If the ball is a moving neutral zone, then 1/2 of the ball needs to be over the GL for a TD,or a first down. See what I mean?

There isn't a " neutral zone" for anything else.    It's  simple comcept....you stay on your side of the ball, we stay on ours.

" neutral " meaning doesn't belong to anyone.  Not a difficult concept to grasp. ... neither team can occupy that neutral zone.

What happens if a player is tackled in  their own end zone....and half the ball  is still in the end zone?

It's  safety....because the entire ball needs to come out.   It's a consistent rule.   The neutral zone would have to completely be outside the end zone,  the entire ball needs to be on the field of play.

For a TD, only the nose needs to break the plain....again, part of the neutral zone cannot be on the field.

Now for a first down...they use the front of the football to measure... the direction the offense is moving.  If they used the back tip of the ball..it would still be the same ten yards.  Just easier to use the front.

But the neutral zone is a consistent rule ...where no player, nor either goal line can be in the neutral zone...if a player in that area, they are offside. I either goal line is in the neutral zone.  .either TD or a safety.

For 1st down they just pick a point of the ball in order to get an exact 10 yards... this could be any point of the ball... to make it easier they use the front of the ball for the offense.

If the football had a line down the center... and they used that to measure a 1st down. ..it would still be the same 10 yards.   Doesn't matter what part of the ball is used as long as it's the same part from the start to finish.

Panthers signed OL Brett Toth from the Eagles' practice squad to their active roster - ;iked him as a b/u

Know we don't have much money, would like to see us grab a bruising RB - practically FB - before the deadline
