Just want to see this team recover and actually start holding themselves accountable…. Seems like a bit to much finger pointing and passing the blame.

D players really don’t seem to happy with that situation

I’d be interested in see the Eagles turn to the young guys in the secondary Slay is already out, bench Bradberry let Ringo, Ricks, Jobe whoever play these last 3 weeks see if we see improvement… think Maddox is set to return soon as well that will be huge getting him back in the slot

What reflects the most on the LB coverage stats is? That can’t cover. Don’t have the agility or speed. Would look completely different if we had Roquan Smith and Patrick Queen at LB. Heck looked much less an issue with TJ Edwards and Kazir White. Not known as fast LB either. The problem with the LB? Are the LB. The GM and you both don’t think it important enough to prioritize. Obvious glaring hole I’ve talked about through the whole offseason even. Zach Cunningham made that much of a huge difference. A guy just sitting on his couch. Now we need to hope Shaq works out for us.

Which LB can cover 50 yards horizontally in the NFL on a pass play?  None.    The LB should be covering either a player or a spot in the zone... not the whole front because his safeties are off the grid.

It's easy to see if you actually watch ....without an agenda.

We win out ….we win the division. Not time to get extra cute and work on developing. Now after saying that: have no choice but to turn to the young players in the Secondary. For me that is Ringo, Ricks, Blankenship…with some Sidney Brown. Of course mix in Roby a good amount if he works. Byard is on the field every play. But I stick with Bradberry. Hopefully getting Shaq working in at LB. Gotta win out. Wins the division. Three games to put everything together to make? Whatever run this squad can do this season.

It’s arguably the most popular D scheme being utilized in the league today.

Edwards looked pretty darn good doing the job

It all ties in together. LBs can’t cover. DBs can’t cover. So what should a DC do?

  • Author

But we’ve dealt with so many issues on D. Maddox hurt early. Then Blankenship went down. Slay looked used up about week 5 last season. Bradberry struggling. Decided to ignore the second level entirely.  Turned the LB over to Dean who couldn’t even get on the field last season as a rookie. Whom has known durability issues. Wasn’t looking great when playing even.

So they brought in Cunningham, Roby and Byard. Three starters after the fact. But hasn’t been much of a chance for continuity.

  • Author

So you have so many issues….obviously the fear is you can’t cover for crap so pull the S back to clean up? Well….everything.

I’m with you really. I think we need to harass the receivers to give the rush that extra second to make the play.

Feels like I’m the optimistic one here now though. I think we have the exact setup to get things together here. All the pieces together for these last three games to come up with some continuity…consistency. It’s all right there in front of us. It’s very late in the season. But you know what? Now’s  the time to get hot and put it all together anyway. I believe that’s what we are getting ready to do here.

Feels to me like too many here bought into way too much of the hype they pumped up our team about this season. We weren’t ever that elite. But we are still good enough. Take out the Niners and I’m not fearing anybody. Any potential playoff team can beat us also. But glass more than half full here. Bring on TB, ATL, Rams, Lions,Vikings,  Cowboys….we can take them DOWN!

Howie has always skimped on the secondary and LB's because his investment is in the pass rush which it NOT dominant. QB's have TOO much time to pick us part and the 12 yard lay offs only amplify the fact we aren't getting to the QB. We have one of the best receiving trios around in AJ,Smith and Goedert as well as pass catching RB's and I don't see them being used to their potential. The O should be a strength,I mean against ANY opponent. We found out the cakewalk season was just that a cakewalk. Now Siri needs to get down to business and get this offense untracked, not just good against crap teams if we want a SB. Right now,I'm not all that confident we can beat the Gnats. I knew the early schedule was easy, but vs the contenders,we look unprepared and outclassed. Hurts isn't the same, you can just watch and see that. 2 plays of the 8 we run are AWFUL. The flare passes to Goedert for 1 yard(gain or loss) and the called QB runs. We're in too many 3rd and longs, then we give up the running game altogether and have 6 plays LOL. Just no imagination at all. We're running street ball offense. "Hey run to the parked car and do a buttonhook" Jebus we need some innovation or at least try the plays on page 9,10 of the 50 play playbook Ped left you. Just really no answer once teams can defend the 8 plays we have. Right now we would muff the Philly Philly for a scoop and score 6

Better to have got the serious wake-up call now….then going into the playoffs believing this team could just snap their fingers and do it easy. Time to get to work ..instead. Good stuff for us!

We shoulda sold our soul for Queen(of course he wasn't even on the block but that is immaterial). We would be undefeated right now. C'mon Joe!!! 🤣

Niners the biggest issue…obviously…like I’ve repeatedly preached. So would like to hold off facing them until the last possible. Only other thing is….rather get Cowboys here…instead of there. Otherwise…we should expect to win home or away against the rest of the conference.

Cam and Maddox full practice today. First practice day of the week for the Xmas Gameday. Went full pads also. Huge!

Opeta or Steen at LG is the question then.

  • Author

Three game losing streak…but I like our team really. Not bad! Time to put it all together.

Our team is hungry and practicing in pads at this late date. Either going to improve…..or fall out to the trainers table. Win or go home!

  • Author

DeVonta didn’t practice. Hopefully he can still go

Opeta be just fine. He’s got those vice grips if he gets his hands on you. But maybe considering looking at Steen at LG. Could potentially actually move Dickerson to C next season.

Morrow didn't practice either

  • Author

I’m assuming Opeta gets the start at LG though.
