The problem starts with letting them get in 3rd and 4 or less.

But you and your fellow facebookies can misunderstand and rant all you want. Nobody stopping you. But if you wished to understand…I tried.

Whelp I tried to explain it to you. Take it or leave it. I was courteous and patiently tried to break it all down for  you.

You were triggered because it's a photo that shows it doesn't matter who the LBs are.  You have this need to take the obvious shot at Howie regardless.   You don't need to use the easy soft coverage on 3rd down to do that.  Their play vs the run was enough.  THIS play, shows off a simple reason why our defense has given up so many easy 3rd downs.  We have seen this all season long. Easy pitch and catch with no defender near the ball.

The LB thing, we all agree with you.... it's not the issue here.

Don’t let the O get in 3rd and 4 or less. That’s fundamental football. That’s where things have gone wrong before anything in the picture. Next you are dealing with not having All Pro CBs across the board. The option of going to PressMan coverage across the board is almost nonexistent. That’s personnel driven.

Ham... was this what you would have called?  You giving up this cushion on every 3rd and 4?  Which slot CB covers the out to prevent an easy catch?

Forget the assignment.  Who would actually be able to prevent that catch as an NFL slot CB being engaged with the TE, shed that guy and get all the way over to knock away a pass?

Just trying to inform you you’re talking about the wrong guy…not in coverage of the throw you’re anticipating. You should be talking about the Slot CB for the throw you seem to be leery of. Just saying.

That's it then? So we get every 3rd and 4 too?  Our opponents let us have this easy conversion?

That's your defensive strategy....forfeit on 3rd and 4?

Outside CB has either WR that goes long. He must maintain Over responsibility.

Slot CB has outside. SS has inside

FYI.....NFL conversion rate on 3rd and 4 is exactly 50%.

So that's half the time the defense gets off the field.   Why forfeit?

Ham...stop it!    I'm not asking who had responsibility... you aren't getting the point.  This defense isn't going to work...that's the point.

I’d almost get…slot Cb two frames forward is breaking to cover the outside WR in case he’s doing something short just for the first down.

Exactly what the problem is. You’re missing all the details. Have to defend against the run because of down and distance.

It's 3rd and 4....anyone else on here think the smart strategy to play 10 yards off the ball here?

Anyone else care about cover 2, 3, 4, man, dime, nickel, man under, quarters,  46, 3-4, 4-3, 4-3 under,  or any other formation or coverage??

Or is this an easy pitch and catch for a 1st down?

You aren’t asking. But complaining about the guy not in coverage for the throw you are leery of.

9 yard reception WR was untouched going out of bounds

He’s two yards inside of the WR. Slot CB

Why do you think this was the result...because the slot guy needs to be replaced? Or because it's physically impossible for him to get there in time? And it's plain stupid coverage strategy?

What was the route?

But yeah, I’d say Slot CB most likely at fault.

Who was the Slot CB in this play? Not likely anybody playing great football.

An easy catch on the out at the 45-44 and a couple extra yards to the 42-41 untouched.  The slot was no where near...as anyone can see the WR up top is running forward, the slot guy is square to line of scrimmage and no shot to be able to run with the top WR especially that he is engaged with the TE.

Idk...but he wasn't in the picture at the end.   He must have followed the TE incorrectly from the coverage you called?

You need to do a better job calling plays for this team.
