What about us trading for TE Pitts? Is there not some way we can make this happen for pennies on the dollar?

Lurie needs to have a talk with Howie about the importance of decent LB's. They need to be at least decent. We know he won't select any "stars" at that spot but he has to cease this continual neglect. CB's and S's he usually goes out and gets some with experience, but really he needs to take a shot at drafting those also. He should see for himself that scoring isn't enough, you also need to prevent the other team from scoring and we are having trouble doing that. A basher type RB instead of clones would be nice also and of course the slot spot/TE2. Penny can bash,I still don't understand his lack of use. Really a mystery to me

We eat all that Option money is what you’re saying? Don’t really need the question mark I guess truely.

Overthecap.com.   great website. Better on a laptop than a phone though.

Spotrac.com.   another good site. These guys do their homework and really understand how things work.   They have it set up very easy to understand.

When the season is done,it's a great tool to use to see about the upcoming year, the cap space, the comp picks....who the free agents are...etc.

The LB issue was way before Howie.    2002 losing to Tampa when we didn't want to sign Trotter.  The LBs the last 6 or 7 years of Andy Reid era was a joke.

Just posted a link where another person had heard rumors of a Queen trade this summer. You gotta remember that Queen wasn’t universally praised as playing anywhere near the level he’s beginning to play at now. He did have an incredible season!

I'm sure you can find tons of rumors on every player.  Speaking to my relatives and a close friend who grew up in Baltimore.... no shot at the Ravens giving up Queen this year.   Any person can make up stuff up, especially in am offseason.

31 GMs didn't get Queen from Baltimore...that should give the reality of the situation.

You want to have a legit topic to talk about...use a player that was traded or signed... see the price, and then you have a possible move that could have been made.  There are always plenty of those.

A draft pick that could have been made

Those are 2 great places to start when looking to critique a decision on player acquisition.  Because they are legit. Not rumors that we can't discuss with certainty as possible options.

Seems like what happened was the Ravens made a deal with Queen….of not tagging him and letting him become a FA. We’ll see….but that tag is tough to take…you know. All straight off the current year’s cap.

Right.... that's what a lot of players want when they are happy where they are,but also want to test the market.  I'm sure that happened with a few of our players from last year.

Bottom line, Queen was never going anywhere.  Baltimore was playing to win this year and have a history or getting the comp picks while losing players.

Ravens have $5 mil cap space this year

$12 mil for 2024.  You can see why they declined the 5th year option for Queen....it ties them up with no leverage.  A team needs to be under the cap day 1 of the new league year.  That 5th year option goes on the books before ... no flexibility.    They can always negotiate a contract with him...but let's say it happens a week into free agency.

If the team exercised the 5th year option,  it counts in full that first week.  If they don't use it, all the time it takes to sign him to the new deal....he isn't on the books.  The team can stay under the cap.

The timing matters.  You don't want guys counting on your books prior to the season if you plan to give them a new deal that will lower the cap hit

That's why you see a lot of these first offseason moves as guys restructuring their deals to create space.

Reddick is perfect candidate for this come late February.

Happens all the time. ….how did we get AJ? Queen gets word we were willing to pay him that 5 year 100 mil contract extension. All the sudden….Queen isn’t such a happy camper on 3.6 mil. Would have given the Ravens a first round pick this year very likely out if it. Many times teams look at that as immediate starter at their position. He wasn’t coming cheap. But maybe Queen was gambling on himself quite a bit this season. Maybe the offers didn’t come through to his liking. Maybe he was only offered 4 year 65 mil.

No Thursday football tonight

Welp Howie should be an upgrade then. And after a few crap drafts he got a clue on the offensive side(yet won't invest in a RB). he might since Sanders is gone now,but there are those LB needs on D and CB/S also needs some hot young studs and a better coach. I understand we don't want to get burned deep, but jebus any team can throw on us with ease for 6-8 yards a pop. Then on the other side way too many 3rd and longs. We end up with 3rd and longs because we are predictable. Any HS coach would spot that problem and have it fixed by now. IDK,I am starting to question Siri as a HC if he can't get his down coaches fixing what needs fixed. Hurts is playing differently, many can see this also. He' just falls down now,no effort, self preservation is fine but he gives up and leaves yards on the field. It's like he wants everyone else to do the work to get to the GL,so he can get the easy TP TD. he is not the same when he was going for the big money. Now that he has it he isn't performing. I am disappointed in him after seeing his advance last year and now we see regression on many points and I'm not happy with him at the moment. And BTW this always has ticked me off. When you need 6 yards on a 3rd down, WHY do we run a 4 yard route? This is really stupid. Counting on 2 yards after the catch, but many times we don';t make it,when if you ran a 7 yard pattern it would be automatic. I'm no pro but even I can figure that out

If we aren't using Penny then he should go. Scott can go away. I keep Swift and Gains and locate 2 more RB's 1 in the draft and 1 in FA and they better not both be clones.

We also lost 1.5 years effing around with having Kelly control things because Lurie made a deal. He sucked in about all phases except smoothies. Howie drafted pretty well the last 3,but he needs to pay more attention to what always has needed attention

Great question! Does the team REALLY think Dallas will lose?

Well and I just dread that most injury prone turf at the Meadowlands.

That's why I'm wanting to rest some guys. I have 0 faith in Wash beating Dallas. So, why not let guys get their legs under them for another week?

Who? Yes, very hard decisions there unless we simply field backups.

Ham... let it go.  Queen was never leaving Baltimore.  I gotta look like " are you nuts" when I mentioned it both times to Ravens fans that follow their team like we do.  31 other teams ...he stayed there, anticipation of a great season to where he could cash in. Happens all the time.

And yeah...AJ Brown happens too.  You can't pick the situations from other teams that fit your need.  To think 31 teams didn't ask the Ravens about Queen is pretty ignorant.   That's their jobs.

What do you want to invest in next year with the first pick?  Remember... you get 1 pick.  Can't get everything, just one.

LB or DB…BPA from those 2 groups.

Nobody ...the hurt guys stay off the game day roster.   I'm giving RB 3 the work this week.  Im running the ball to shorten the game, and also because we can run it on the Giants.

Defense..  I'm using more rotation.  I'd like to see Ojomo get 25 snaps. Graham, Reddick, Sweat and Smith should play half the snaps.

We keep the Giants snap count in the 50s again...thats fine.  Get the win and shorten the game.

No Slay at CB and no Smitty at WR.

I'm not conceding a Dallas loss either.  They suck on the road...and have a history of messing up when it matters.

To be honest...them losing and us winning just seems appropriate for this year.

I think they go one of the Lines.

I think good chance almost half.  They either lose a close game because they mess up.... or they win in a blow out.
