So, how do you keep them on your team while allowing growth in other areas? IDK Brady was backloaded for decades and the Pats did ok I like your crystal ball though, that you knew with certainty every player we paid would drop performance levels from 2018 on. Like I said, if we were 11-2 you wouldn't be saying this

I was telling you we wouldn’t be 11-2. It was never going to happen with this team. So I understand your disappointment if you thought that was the trajectory.

I don't recall you saying  "OMG we're gonna suck this year" And WHY would you say that if all our guys never hit the mash tent? We had a pretty nice lineup before we got tagged OVER and OVER with injury. Like you knew in pre season we would have to call up PS players??? Not buying

You missed all these exhaustive discussions I’ve been through about contracts? Where have you been? Trying to explain myself over and over to No Mas especially. I was warning about this all coming. You guys thought it was Howie Magic.

And...what preseason? When did that happen? I missed that.

I actually thought we’d have to massively use the practice squad. I thought COVID would ravage the league much worse than it has

You take more of a cap hit upfront. Paying guys a huge contract and then only taking a two mil cap hit year one has its consequences.

Hurts starting!!!! Apparently the Wentz era has ended. Love to have been a fly on the wall as to who made this decision. I would actually keep starting Wentz cause I dont want to win anymore games at this point. But it's good for Hurts I suppose. This will tank Wentz's trade value though. Another MISS using alot of draft capital to destroy a round 1 QB. So, now it gets interesting as trading is now on the table. This is something unexpected. I figured he was our franchise QB. Now, start Fulgham ,Mailata and let the KIDS PLAY!!

I'd imagine it will have been a decision made between Lurie, Howie and Doug? I'd certainly like to think that a huge decision like this is one that would be considered amongst the key guys involved in the team.

I think you are way ahead of where things are. Pedey said Hurts would start. But he also stated how Wentz was taking it like a pro and that he’s the leader of the team.

The start is against arguably the best defense we face. Not some layup start.

If you look at it that way....he’s doing Wentz a favor.

Pedey has always said everything is collaborative. But this decision he was adamant he’d make alone.

Do we believe that though?

Yes I do. I think the media has grabbed hold of the truth that Pedey has been very limited as a HC. We already had reports that Lurie approved benching Wentz a couple of games ago. So it was already approved.

I think we made a huge mistake by firing Groh. I think he’s a heck of a coach. But he didn’t have experience as an OC. So there was an obvious learning curve to be expected. Pedey stated he was keeping Groh. Then had to come right back and fire him. To me that was Rosie stepping in and forcing the issue. Put us in this position. Now we have Pedey, Taylor, Scarangello, Stout and Staley all chefs in the kitchen. Too many.Too much going on. We need better cohesion. Everything should be going through Pedey.

I think NO's defense is somewhat overrated. They have played well the last few games, but that has been against a bad 49ers team, a bad Falcons team twice and the Broncos with a wr at qb. Their only quality opponent in that stretch was the Bucs, who can run hot and cold. Prior to that stretch they gave up 20 points a game or more every week to opponents that included the Chargers, the Bears and the Lions. From a talent standpoint I don't think they are appreciably better than the Packers.

Hurts has no excuses. He has an oline that has played much better. We should be able to run the ball much better with his read option plays. If he is as good as Howie thought he was, we should move the ball.

On his podcast, Geoff Mosher brought up something that I noticed was pretty clear on Hurts' tape, namely that our passing offense is almost completely vertical. Even when we run other concepts, as we did on the Ward TD, the base concept is still a vertical route. which is fine for fourth and 18, but we do the same thing on first and ten, second and five and third and three.

So while Wentz was to blame for some of the problems, our offense is crap. And it shows why a guy like JJAW has been unable to succeed here, because the routes he is being asked to run over and over again don't play to his strengths. And it becomes easy to defend when the corner knows what is coming.

A quick "memo" from Lurie like "do something" would surely set your pants on fire eh?

Brady took pay cuts to help the Cap. No other QB would do that.

You bet

Yep and how long was he there? I'm sure there were "other considerations" from Belicheat(like doing commercials and endorsing products) lol. if I love my job and making millions, cutting a few doesn't hurt much. Lets remember too they were competitive almost every year (ok they got 6 free games, but still they were in alot of SB's). To me that's a lifer team member who did it to help his team stay competitive. I was kinda surprised Beli let Jimmy go, but like Foles here, he  did so he could PLAY

Depends on how Hurts plays. NO has a rook QB, so it's rook on rook. This is a great game to find out what we have. The team will follow who gets them to play the best, not the guy you pay the most lol

Ham(mer). He is leading this team into an abyss we can't get out of. Lemmings have leaders also

Hurts did some good things and some bad. About all I can say about it. We got ripped on the Seumalo holding penalty on the big Sanders(I believe it was) run. I’m pretty sure that was while Hurtswas in.

That's a big difference I see in this team vs the more successful ones. One penalty and we fold/point fingers/say the game hinged on that call etc. Teams like KC go "bummer", then come back and burn you anyway. It's a mindset

regardless, he averaged 14 Mil per year from 2015-2017. No other QB would take that small a deal with his credentials.

You have to sign the right players also. Just no way around that.

IDK what were the "right" players? We signed Djax. before injury and the draft he was the "right" player for us yes? So was Alshon at one time. Reagor could be the "right" player, but we need these guys on the field, not in the mash tent. Slay was the "right" player. So it's a combination of errors and injury taking it's toll and this is an annual event. We have our share of bad picks, but we lack development skills,so how would we know if those are the right players with a bad staff,or the right staff with bad players? I will choose alot of players we get are RIGHT. The failure is in keeping them on the field and keeping the play calls "exciting and interesting" which is yet another fail we have.
