Just didn’t think we should have done plenty of things we did for 2019. 2018 you try and repeat. Totally get that. But really reached on 2019. Got real old real quick. Spending so much in the process. Just was too much fool’s gold there.

We’ve seen how crucial speed is in this offense. DJax was great back in the day. But I thought that time had passed. Time to go to a new speed well. I wasn’t against Torrey Smith. He wasn’t quite as good as expected but filled that position solidly. They took him for big money in FA so I understood letting him go. Wallace seemed worth a shot. Didn’t work out. Agholor had a Rocky career here. Pretty elusive but I think the tough Philly culture probably he wasn’t quite cut out for. But we needed to go with youth. Really fix the issue. So we’ve been a few steps behind on this. Kind of struggled with speed everywhere. Smoke John Brown was a short quick fix possibly. Robbie Anderson was the obvious FA for us. I wanted Hollywood Brown the year before instead of Dillard. The speed element guy doesn’t have to be a 1,500 yard receiver. We just needs to  open things up for others. Ertz and Goedert are very effective. Sanders is very effective. A step behind on RB also.
Anyway anyway...just thought it was a teach to go for DJax as the reliable speed option at this point. We saw how great it was...for a game. Wentz has a big arm....was a shame to watch this offense plod along the last few seasons. Had to work so hard without anyone really making plays.

We don't know if he was right, he hardly played. There is no way to know but conjecture

OK, so Hurts is the QB this week, Forget about what he does on the field for a moment. I would like all to watch when he goes to the sidelines. I am willing to bet he has someone in his ear all game long, including Wentz. Now think back and try to remember when another coach was with Wentz on the sidelines this season......

Sanders starts to break out as Doug starts to run the ball more....finally. We still lose but it is going to be more competitive only because we start doing the things we should have been doing all year long.....

Whatever, This whole situation makes me sick. To make matters worse, we will most likely have to deal with it for one more year. Dead money for Wentz declines to just under 9.3 million for 2022. So, what we will see is two QB's auditioning for the Eagles and the rest of the league..... Then we fire HR and Doug, assuming we don't make the play-offs again.

So I need to play 2 of thes WR's this week in the play-offs. What is your opinion:

Watkins - KC

Lockett- Sea

Shepard - NYG

Problem is Lockett is so sporadic and Watkins just got back last week, so not sure what they will do. Shepard should get me 10-14 points no matter who they play. He is pretty consistent, but to miss out on a big day from one of the other two may kill my chances of moving on in the play0offs..... What to do.....?

Seattle at home to the Jets looks like a good bet

I agree, but Metcalf is on a tear..... But I think Lockett is good for a dozen min. Now what about Shepard and Watkins? That seems to be a toss up. I feel Watkins should be the #3 option behind Hill and Kelce, no?

Yeah but they're playing AT Miami which has a pretty good D. The other side of that coin is Miami should concentrate on double teaming Hill and Kelce which should leave Watkins in single coverage. He will be splitting reps with 2 other WRs though

For Sheppard it depends on who is the QB

OTC is showing $24.5M dead money if Wentz is cut or traded in 2022.  In 2023 it drops to $15.3M and then down to $6M in 2024.

Pedey has always said everything is collaborative. But this decision he was adamant he’d make alone.

I read that Laurie himself was involved in the decision to bench Carson. Collaboration is all well and good but at the end of the day Laurie signs the checks.

I don't...The gossip on my side of town has been that Peedy is dissatisfied with his lack of authority with team decisions, and wants out? Fake news?

I think NO's defense is somewhat overrated. They have played well the last few games, but that has been against a bad 49ers team, a bad Falcons team twice and the Broncos with a wr at qb. Their only quality opponent in that stretch was the Bucs, who can run hot and cold. Prior to that stretch they gave up 20 points a game or more every week to opponents that included the Chargers, the Bears and the Lions. From a talent standpoint I don't think they are appreciably better than the Packers.

Hurts has no excuses. He has an oline that has played much better. We should be able to run the ball much better with his read option plays. If he is as good as Howie thought he was, we should move the ball.

I can buy the first part of your reasoning...I am trying to understand what you mean when you say" Hurts has no excuses...he has an OL that has played much better. We should be...We should be able to run the ball... Lol Peedy has refused to do what you say all season long...Jalen Hurts makes him change....what are you saying ? Cause ...Carson Wentz and this team failed miserably all season with this  I think it was up to 12 iterations of this OL ... A 5th yr veteran in the same Offense with his same coach have been terrible. I wouldn't be fair to put those expectations on a rookie with an OL that made Wentz the most sacked QB in the game . As much as I would like to see Hurts play well...I hope he does that and loses every remaining game. I want high draft picks this season is toast.

No need to.He was already wealthy, they paid him well for many years. And he knew if he wanted to stay for longevity,he would have give a little. He did it for the team, not himself. why I will always consider Brady a class act. having a super model wife didn't hurt either lol. Despite a pay reduction, you still get that nice SB bonus lol

You already said it they circumvented the taxes. Tom might have normally had to pay. You gotta know Kraft took care of everything else Brady wanted, off book🤒

I don’t really think so. We’ve answered the bell through some adversity the last few years. We just don’t have the guns to fire back this year.

I don't want us firing back this year, get the young guys on the field... Let the new coach/GM reshape a healthier team, get a QB whisperer in here to straighten out Wentz . If Hurts proves productive these remaining games we get to see what his future potential holds

I get NY has been playing well I just don't trust the QB situation ...Agreed Lockett is sporadic but when he is good and he probably has a better matchup vs Jets... I like Watkins... my only problem Is any given Sunday KC and Big Red can decide to highlight ANY of the 7 , 8 or 10 different weapons that KC team has the question for me Watkins coming back from injury, How much does Reid use him or does he  keep him protected for the playoffs? KC got soooo many weapons. I like Lockett over the others.

OK, that is weird!  I went to the same sight and saw different numbers.... But went back and they were the same as yours! Anyway, We probably can afford to sever ties with Wentz assuming Hurts is the real deal in 2022. Either that or trade Hurts and accumulate draft picks.... Cap numbers will be way up and the $ spent on QB's will still be low enough with Hurts and Sudfeld plus the Dead money....

I need two lol.... Lockett I will probably play. The next one is my dilemma

Heard it mentioned that IF we wanted to trade Wentz and did so before the 3rd day of the league year (when a large roster bonus is due), the dead money hit to the cap would be $33.8M - that is roughly the same as what his cap number would be if he was still on the roster.  So, they really need to think long and hard about whether or not they feel Wentz should be a part of this team moving forward.  If they've seen enough to know he won't, they should try to deal him and cut their losses (the cap hit is the same either way, but then he is off the books beyond 2021 ... and we likely get a pretty high pick in return to help fill more of the many holes on the roster).

That sounds good, but the Cap is too low next year to afford that large of a hit. There would be no way to fill a roster with what is left... Waiting a year when the cap increases is a much more plausible option....

For the record I don't think they'll want to trade him so soon.  He has the talent, no doubt.  I think he just needs much stronger coaching than he is getting from Taylor and much better play calling.

I agree. I think the more likely route is Doug goes or they get a QB Coach and or a OC to work with Wentz. I hear a bunch of people calling for HR and Doug's head, but I strongly doubt anything happens until 2022....

I wouldn’t be shocked if this is the case... Still think Howie has ran his course here.

I’m excited for this Saints game not because I think we win but because we get to see Hurts want to see how different the O looks with him at the helm.

The real question is what happens if Hurts finish the year strong(or for heavens sake gets us in the playoffs) what do we do at QB???? Open battle??? Turn back to Wentz/trade him??? Go all in with Hurts???

Doug definitely does like to play it more safe with the backup QBs actually use the ground game did it with Foles as well. It’s a wonder why we don’t treat Wentz in a similar fashion

IMO Watkins gets hurt really easy it seems, and now they are tossing to a new kid too and Mahomes throws to everyone on the roster(because they CAN), so think on that issue. I'm with ASG, Lockett vs the hapless Jets. They are worse than us(if that's possible). Sheppard should give you some numbers, this should be an aerial war. I would personally go with Lockett and Sheppard

if this is our biggest problem, it would be a nice one to have.

IDK bud, from a financial standpoint, if Hurts is "as good" as Carson(which at this point seems a shoe in), I lose Carson. You now have a starting QB for 3 possibly 4 years(with option) on a CHEAP rookie contract. Even taking the dead money hit, if you spread that out over 3-4 years it's not as bad as it seems, so you can free up some loot in those 3-4 years. Don't know much about Suds, he never plays, but apparently we feel he is good enough in an emergency 3 situation or we would have been gone by now. I also know we like Zac Thomas as a late QB snag. Since we have 4 round 6 picks,we can get him in here if we want as a WIP QB. I suppose what we need to know most is WHO will be our starting O line next year. We need that fixed and have adequate BU's at every position and I noted that usually we drop C"s that we pick up, but the kid we have is still around, so I WOULD like to see this kid step in and play for Kelce in garbage time(which is usually the entire second 1/2 lol)

IDK how it works, but can a team just come in and BUY his contract from us? That would take the loot off the books. May be the best option if that is possible. Teams that may be interested, Denver, Jax, maybe the Raiders. I suppose that all depends on how Hurts plays from here on out. Expect rook mistakes from Hurts, but really wentz is making those same rook mistakes so I see no loss in tryingsee no loss in trying
