On Lurie now. It has to drive him mad that we have to start Hurts while paying mega bucks for a pine rider. Jebus we suck

It's all on Jeffrey now. Move #1 should be to send Howie packing and hire his replacement. I'm not convinced he'll do that. Time will tell I suppose.

Team/staff all a mess. At least the Titanic had a band

Get the sense that JJaw pick was a heavily influenced by Joe Douglas who liked the highly productive college players ie Barnett, Pump, JJaw etc.

But think we all wanted Metcalf especially when he fell into the 2nd oh well

lol let’s blame Douglas!

Here's an article about the Wentz cap hit if he is traded.

It's now possible the Philadelphia Eagles trade Carson Wentz : Sportsnaut

The key paragraph.

"However, Philadelphia does have a more financially-friendly out should the team opt to trade him. According to Over the Cap, the team would take on a $33.82 million dead cap hit if Carson Wentz were traded before the third day of the new league year in March. That’s north of $25 million less than his dead cap hit."

The team acquiring him would actually have a pretty friendly deal. The cap hits would be about $25 million a year, and only the first year would have any gtd. money. So there is some incentive to trade for him, as market value for a decent qb is heading to the $40 million a year level.

JJ lol. Don;t know. What matters to me is "what are the odds we can develop the players we choose"? I feel that's pretty low

So we should avoid a talent like Chase because we may not be able to develop him properly?  If anything that would seem to apply to Surtain since we seem to have a hard time developing CBs (see Douglas and Jones).  But even then, I think Schwartz is likely to be gone so ...

LOL OH JJ is leading in every category 6 months in as a rook, doesn't seem too terribly early to me to evaluate he is a stud. IDK maybe you are watching different film Hard for me to buy he will go downhill from this point. Of course injury could derail him,but he's just getting STARTED

Point taken I do agree (and have been) that JJ is a stud Howie missed on.  As mentioned previously, he was my choice too.  ;)

But we're already 50 mil over, so how do we sign even  rooks? Maybe they take VISA

IDK bud, you know we F"d around with AG a long time. He had ONE ok season(and our O line was OK then). With no O line or established running game(not because we don't have one but because we don;t use it), I don't; see how he succeeds here

Here's the plan as I see it.

I wanted him for a few reasons 1) he can play in or out(despite what others say). Reagor is nice to pull D's,but how may target s game? 4,5,6? JJ would have offered 10-12 and I figure Wentz could use the solidity. I also know he was ASSUMING he was an Eagle

Accurate

BTW I am originally from Ohio. There was a building by Browns stadium scheduled for the above. They started Friday night. On Monday it was reported they took down the wrong building due to an address typo. People came to work to an empty lot. Having to suffer with the Browns(by default), I thought that was fitting. Then I thought,ok how the hell do you explain this to your insurance company? 🤣

The plan is pretty straightforward. They will cut Jeffery, DJax and Goodwin. That saves $26 million next year (by pushing $12 million in dead money into 2022.) Extending or cutting Barnett will save $6 million to $10 million. If Kelce retires, that saves money (the exact amount is not known at this point, but it's likely $10 million.) They can extend Graham and Malik Jackson, or cut them, saving up to $14 million combined. Trading Ertz saves $8 million.

The issue really isn't the salary cap, it's the qb situation. They have to figure out what they are going to do with Hurts and Wentz, and then worry about everything else later.

Agree the QB comes, well second, cause Lurie needs to shake the staff up, but money wise I agree Qb needs to be known

He was the guy in charge of the draft during his tenure here just saying...I’m ready to fire Howie as well not using Joe as a scape goat for him. But did see a serious shift from how we drafted guys when Joe got hired

An interesting day for transactions. I think we have two open roster spots, and will probably sign Elijah Riley to fill one with all our injuries at corner. I like Riley a lot, but he seemed stuck behind Arnold, whom I didn't. Wallace really struggled, and I wonder if he might get a chance on defense.

The second might go to Howard. If we like him, it doesn't seem wise to leave him on the ps.

I think they will elevate Rashad Smith, a linebacker who can help on special teams and may be an interesting kid to keep around. He spent time on the Bears PS and was claimed by the Cowboys, but never played for them. He is apparently super fast.

Kevon Seymour might get called up as well, since he has starting CB experience.

I’m not really ready to overreact on Wentz just yet... Yup got benched for good reason. But want to see Hurts play and what the O looks like with him. Good chance we still suck. If the O is still stagnant and looks terrible think that says a lot about play calling and supporting cast

As for moving Wentz if needed we going have to eat some dead cap sure but not angry at the deal. And a team will take Wentz off our hands if we want to trade him betting Indy and Reich would love to take Wentz off our hands and also willing to bet he flourish

Just out of curiosity does anyone have a new coach in mind if Doug does end getting fired??? Pretty sure it’s safe to say it would be an offense minded coach.

Would think going back to the KC well is well meh.

Lincoln Riley will be heavily rumored for us I’m willing to bet.

honestly not sure there are any really hot names out there to be coach if we fired Doug this year.

What will cause major issues is if Hurts gets pulled for Wentz lol. Then we are in the Winston/Fitz revolving door they had in TB

Hmmmm, I would kick the tires on the OC in JAX(Gruden lol). If Duce is the "asst" coach as listed, that is another option. Anyway, Gruden did a nice job as HC when the no name team was in the position we are now. IDK who did the drafting for them, but he got them some of those players. McLauren and Gibson come to mind. And he built a pretty nice defense for them

I don’t see this happening maybe this season would not shock me if Hurts is bad and we turn back to Wentz but I do think QB will work itself out whether it’s Wentz or Hurts. And we will stick with one guy.

Some roster moves were made.

Philadelphia Eagles on Twitter: "Roster Moves: #Eagles have promoted CB Kevon Seymour from the practice squad to the active roster and placed G Jason Peters on Reserve/Injured. Eagles have elevated CB Jameson Houston and LB Rashad Smith from the practice squad to the active roster for #NOvsPHI. https://t.co/zC0zyumfTo" / Twitter

All three of these guys will probably play on special teams. We are basically down to the bare minimum with only four LBs and four corners (including the two new guys) who are healthy.

The one thing about Seymour is that he is blazing fast, as he posted a sub 4.4 time at the combine. He had his career sidetracked by injuries, but maybe he is salvageable?

Smith was ultraproductive in college. So maybe he just needs a chance to show what he can do.

I’d hard pass on Gruden as the HC as OC maybe but not HC

I was looking at GB and Tennessee OCs not sure if they would be good HCs or not but both have some of the better Os in football. Think a case could be made for the Titans OC really done a great job with Tannehill O works and scores points(seems to like to run the ball but can still pass) and the HC is D minded so the OC probably does most of the work on the O
