Philadelphia recently brought Super Bowl hero Corey Clement back on a team-friendly one-year deal. Clement never wanted to leave and instructed his agent not to negotiate with any other organizations. He wants to retire in midnight green and someday he might do that.

It was easy to see in training camp that Dillard could move. Also in training camp, it was hard to miss an emotional outburst that occurred after a practice in which he and Derek Barnett got into a scrap. According to a source, that was only one of multiple such emotional moments that occurred during practice last season.

Dillard's biggest flaw as a rookie, by far, was his inability to anchor against power. If it doesn't get fixed, and opposing pass rushers know they can just bull rush him into the quarterback, it will likely be a fatal flaw for his NFL career.

We'll see if he put on any muscle if/when camp starts

Well he’s now had a full year since being drafted (including a couple months after the season ended before this COVID-19 crap) to have dedicated himself to getting bigger and stronger.  I’ll be extremely disappointed if he shows up in the same shape and doesn’t take a significant step forward in year 2.

Players are doing on-line traning w/ staff who can hook them up w/ any equipment they don't already have. I'm sure they're taking measurements etc online as well. Doesn't equate to hands on, but it's enough to see how they're coming along. A little surprised we haven't heard anything about JP, I expect/want him back.

4 Reasons to place Eagles GM Howie Roseman in a much hotter seat

1.It’s called nostalgia for a reason. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines it as "pleasure and sadness that is caused by remembering something from the past and wishing that you could experience it again”. That kind of sounds like how Eagles fans feel about that Super Bowl victory, huh?

Should that season and how it ended have bought Roseman and the Eagles regime more time to prove what they can do? It absolutely should have, but experiencing nostalgia can also mean that the desired result isn’t occurring with any regularity. Such is the case with this Eagles franchise. That Super Bowl win feels like it was ten years ago, and these days, it feels like Philly’s getting further and further from the target. Oh, you disagree? Let’s dig a little deeper here.

If we’re being honest…

Following the 2017-2018 season, Roseman was named the Pro Football Writers Association’s  Executive of the Year, but how did he earn that dubious distinction? He signed a lot of free agents who all had one great year left in them, and midseason, he traded for a very good running back that had one good year left in him.

That’s always been the strategy. It happened in his first stint as a general manager, and it’s happening now. The cycle unfolds as follows. Philly misses on draft picks, and they make up for it by signing guys or trading for proven veterans. Those guys get injured more often because they’re aging. The "Birds” wind up with a lot of bad contracts, and they walk into every offseason with the same needs that they had the year prior.

Howie’s system of roster building worked one time, and if we’re being totally honest, if we’re going to elevate Howie for the 2017 roster and Super Bowl victory, you also have to admonish him for the "Dream Team”.

Yep, that was him too. The process looks familiar, doesn’t it? We’ve seen a single strategy for team building, and it’s only wound up being successful one time. That Super Bowl win has carried him ever since. So much for the "new norm” that we were all promised, huh?

3. If history is any indication, this will never end.

In a "what have you done for me lately” league, we often overreact to what we’ve just seen. When teams lose, "they suck”. When they win, people start throwing out Super Bowl theories. The truth is Carson Wentz doesn’t suck because he missed on a throw. They aren’t machines people. All quarterbacks miss throws.

How are we to evaluate Roseman though? He screws up a draft and then another and another. You’ve all heard this one before. "If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck and quacks, then guess what”? Yes, friends, Howie is that duck.

There’s a reason Darren Sproles was brought back after we had just seen that it probably wasn’t a good idea twice. There’s a reason the Eagles keep re-signing Vinny Curry and why he won’t be on an NFL roster unless the Eagles sign him again, a very real possibility.

Here’s a guy that just doesn’t seem to learn from anything that he does wrong.

4. The final days of April tell the entire tale.

There’s a reason why even though he admitted he gets too emotionally attached to players and will do a better job of not doing so going forward that we’re still talking about guys like Jason Peters and LeSean McCoy and Nigel Bradham coming back. Say it out loud just one more time. Howie doesn’t learn from his mistakes.

WHAT HAPPENED TO "GETTING YOUNGER” AND "CAN THEY PLAY” AND ARE THEY HEALTHY”?

The Eagles had to nail this draft. We’re not sure that they did, are we? If that wasn’t enough to get everyone up in arms, Roseman goes and signs the oft-injured Corey Clement back to the roster on a one-year deal. What happened to "getting younger” and "can they play” and are they healthy”?

Jalen Reagor at 21? A quarterback in Round 2?

Take a poll, and you might learn that there are a lot of people discussing that and they don’t think either was a wise decision for a team that entered the draft with a ton of needs. With that being said, ask yourself the question one more time. Is it time to put Howie on the hot seat? Maybe not, but it’s time to start warming it so it’s a little uncomfortable

Why I am for "the pipeline".Sometimes we start one, then abandoned it

We have/had a RB pipeline started.Hit on Sanders, and Scott emerged, then we clogged up the pipeline.I was looking for the guy this draft, not to replace Sanders, but to take over when the time came(that is the pipeline-promoting from within).Had Perrine for that mocked.Maybe Warren can do it,but it's tough to replace a starting RB from the UDFA list. After the SB everyone wanted to play here. Now we are back to "MEH" in 2 short years

I agree.. Dallas has drafted well for years now.    The Super bowls, NFC Title games ... are countless since 1996.  All the playoff wins and appearances.    Yet.... they draft well.   If they could have stayed healthy the last 2 years like the Eagles did... they could have easily won 2 more titles.... if Cooper didn't drop that pass against the Saints or if Clowney didn't take that cheap shot on Dak ... I could easily see 2 more titles.  They draft really well.    Really well.

Eagles meanwhile ...worst 4 years by any GM/ coach combo in franchise history the last 4 years... despite the very fortunate situation of very limited injuries.   The long time Eagles fans.... especially those in their 60s who grew up watching elite football in Philly from 1961 to 1977 ... they cannot stomach this recent lack of success... it's an embarrassment to the long championship history of the franchise.

The common perception is that Dillard played well when he was at his normal position at LT in 2019, but faltered when he was asked to play at RT against the Seahawks. The reality is that he was also bad at LT.

Dillard got significant playing time in five games:

 Andre Dillard Snaps
 Vikings 47
 Cowboys 61
 Bills 73
 Bears 89
 Seahawks (at RT) 34

Despite only playing a total 343 snaps on the season (183 of which were pass blocking snaps), Dillard led the team in sacks allowed:

Player  *Sacks allowed  *Pass blocking snaps
 Andre Dillard 6.5  183
 Jason Peters 602
 Isaac Seumalo 2.5  763
 Halapoulivaati Vaitai 331
 "Everybody" N/A
 Jay Ajayi N/A
 Jordan Howard 44
 Dallas Goedert 65
 Miles Sanders 81
 Lane Johnson 454
 Jason Kelce 763

*Pass blocking snaps via ProFootballFocus, sacks-allowed tally via PhillyVoice.

Extrapolate those 6.5 sacks over a season in which he plays every snap (763 pass blocking snaps), and it's 27 sacks allowed.

3 were at RT. One of those was when the WR tripped him up coming from behind.  So that’s exactly the point I was making. Trying to blow up his numbers off that terrible performance. And he came in off the bench not practicing with the first team against a great pass rushing team and gave up like two of the others. 3.5 sacks were legit at LT. That’s agenda stats. Gotta give the guy a fair shake.  Once he got his feet a little wet he was picking his game up quickly. At LT at least.

Dallas had Zeke suspended. That suspension could have gone either way honestly. If he wasn’t suspended their fortune might have changed that season. They won the East the next season. Then last year they whooped us in the first game. They were in charge and in control. Then Dak got hurt. It was his throwing arm. It was a huge factor. Can’t lie.
So I’m not sure we are sitting on top of them all that high and mighty and can blame injuries on our side and say they were healthy.

Exactly right. And coming in it was understood he needed to bulk up. Which is extremely common for a college kid coming to the Pros. Had very little run blocking experience also. So his first main practice accomplishment had to be learning run blocking in our scheme. Being susceptible to the bull rush for a guy that we knew needed to add strength.....that didn’t take some mega film study to figure out.

How many snaps we give the guy to say he’s getting his feet wet and shaking off the jitters of moving to the Pros? Seemed like he got better with every snap to me. Get stronger mentally and physically is what he needs. He can handle this.

IDK man, this is a pretty big leap risking your franchise QB,if he can't get it right. If it was RT,not quite as bad,at least Wentz can see it coming.A blind side belt is the worst kind

Jaws and Carmichael were the reasons I became a Eagles fan.Yeah,it's disappointing not to be at the top of the heap.Of course the new rules and such make "dynasties" a thing of the past.Unless of course you are one team in a certain division who gets 6 free games a year(cough cough). It would be nice to vie in post season every year. The SB was awesome, but possibly won on 1 play.So eliminating that we do "ok".I'd like us to be consistent, just not a .500 consistent.Although Dullaz has cap issues almost annually, they always manage to get their future players in,or get who they need to. Gallup was noone until he played us.When they were done with Dez,they got Coop.Vander-Esch will just keep getting better. Witten was a top TE for years. As was Romo a top QB. We can't seem to develop most positions except for TE.Perhaps that staff needs to be the WR staff??? We could have moved up in the draft for a top WR,failed to do it.Although I like reagors speed we needed at least 2 top flight WR's,but got one.We fail to draft top talent at LB,CB and we keep making the same moronic moves every year. At that point we panic and head to the bargain basement for players on the cheap and while I am all for a great bargain,it's difficult to watch great players go to other teams.it's very frustrating

Funny you mentioned that. My wife ordered 10 KN95 masks from China through Amazon because she couldn't get any here in the country. It took 5 weeks for them to arrive and when we opened them up, every one of the bands that go around the ear were torn on one side. Unusable!  There is a sucker born everyday and I am still finding that out at 67 years of age.

LOL yeah,I now look at online purchases, where they come from,or even if it's a US address I ask who their supplier is.I got screwed TWICE on some RC toys for my grandson. They show you a great vid, then send you crap.Due to USPS policy you CANNOT return it for a refund because it has a transmitter.I find this interesting, they let things with transmitters IN,but we can't send any OUT.SMH
