Just looked at a "pro" mock site where we pick 9th. And they show both Chase and DeVonta Smith as avaliable there. IDK if I could pass on either although it's ,obvious we need lots of help in other areas. If we did that we would have to go CB/LB in 2/3, but by adding either of those WR's to Reagor and the others we have,we SHOULD be pretty set at WR for awhile (sans Djax and Alshon). So from what I have so far that would be 1-9 Chase/Smith perhaps Derrion Kendrick-CB in 2 and Jabril Cox-LB in 3(but he is moving up the boards now) We would have to "be happy" with the O line developing as well as be fine with our D line. Could add guys later, but probably no impact guys in round 5 and beyond.

IDK can Wentz get his mojo back? We don't know

No you're right we don't know. But if Hurts plays well the next 2 weeks how can they go back to Wentz at the beginning of next year? I just think that's a really bad message to send.

We obviously had the money allotted for Wentz and Hurts at QB. So what’s it really matter who wins the starting job and who’s the backup?

Main issue is the financial plan was probably to redo Barnett and Wentz contracts.

Look at what's happening in Miami. Tua got pulled and now the issue is whether or not he can be a qb1. This is right after they butchered the situation with Tannehill.

You don't want a qb looking over his shoulder. Having both guys in the locker room is asking for trouble.

That was the situation once they drafted a QB with the second pick

17 game regular season seems like it’s practically a done deal now for next season

He has 9 games under his belt ... waaaaaaaaaaaay too early to be able to even come close to making a complete evaluation on him.  Shoot we thought we had a QB1 in Wentz after significantly more play time ... look where we are at with him now.

So today could decide the nfc least lol.... Of we win and giants/Skins lose then we are playing for the crown week 17 vs DC.

Because your not going to pay a backup QB 34m a year lol. Let’s be real on that one.

Nah, difference is Fitz is fine being a BU to Tua. He is mentoring him. They root for each other. Tua is not mad when he gets pulled because Fitz will teach him and Fitz isn't demanding a trade because Tua starts.; Whole different mind set and I doubt they are paying Fitz anything close to what we pay Wentz

Yeah, but the point is you are basically paying 34 million for 2 potential starting QB's IF IF IF Wentz gets his act together.Hurts is on a rook deal and is cheap That's why I said we need to pressure Wentz to re-do or nullify his contract to make him tradable if he insists on "getting out of here". We have basically until March to hammer all this out

Lmao why would Wentz redo his deal literally nothing we can do to make him do that. If anything Wentz would offer the new team a chance to redo his deal not philly

If he won't he sits in Philly as a BU. Not hard to understand. No team will pay what we pay for this years performance. Not happening. We can force him to stay per his contract if we want and with all the gurantees Howie gave him, another team isn't gonna pay those,so he needs a redo IF he wants traded. If we force him to stay, there is no dead money hit

To me the decision for our QB has to be made in the off-season and the flip the other guy. Whether it’s starting the free up cap to get away from Wentz deal and some extra draft assets to help build around hurts... Or just assets to help build more around Wentz that is the moves I’d be looking for.

Sooooo you think our leverage on Wentz is that he has to sit on the bench and make 34m lol... Just asking would you complain about making 34m riding the bench in the nfl... again we have no leverage to make him redo his deal.

As for his performance fans are always so right now nfl teams not so much a team will offer something for Wentz guaranteed. Will they attempt to get him as cheap as possible sure but would not shock me in the least to see a team offer up a 1st rounder for him or the very least a 2nd

SO, if we made Wentz stay here we would basically be paying Wentz for 3 years while Hurts plays out his rook contract(also 3 years). So If Wentz wants out,he has to make it worth OUR while. At the end of 3 we can cut Wentz with ZERO dead hit and sign Hurts so a real contract

Especially since you have a lot of teams - Bears, Colts, 49ers, Patriots - who are a qb away from contending, but who won't be in position to grab a sure thing in the draft. So Wentz and Hurts both have value.

It's just the Eagles having the stones to pull the trigger.

Again Wentz if we are in trade talks and he likes the team could definitely offer the team a chance to redo his deal but he isn’t going to offer philly it

Nope I wouldn't complain, but he will. He wants to play in the rime of his career and THERE is the leverage we have

And your paying him 34-35m cap hit over that span which limits what you can do to build the team around hurts

Then we'd eat the dead money and I don't see Howie doing that,at least not for another year

Conversely,if Hurts take us to a SB on rook pay, then it really doesn't matter. We'd have to pay a QB either way if we didn't have Hurts and Wentz still sucked

SO IMO there is the leverage we have. Tell Wentz "Hurts is starting, you will be the BU". He won't be happy with that, so then you say "well if you want out, then you need to redo your contract to be tradable otherwise we are keeping you here. It's all I got trying to find a way out of this new debacle. Team plays better with Hurts. Those are facts as of this point. Of course if Hurts is AWFUL over the last 2 games, then we have something else to decide. Howie will not eat that dead cap unless with a redo that can be reduced to get another team to trade for him. Noone will pay what we are paying him AND pay for our dead money hit unless they are galactically stupid

Hurts taking is to a SB on his rookie contract would be great means you can generally pay other positions more can’t do that when you already have what 3rd of your cap tied into a QB.
