  • Winner: Jaguars. In what may go down as the greatest tank of all-time, the Jaguars have successfully locked up the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Although they tricked all of us into thinking they were good in Week 1 with a win over the Colts, they successfully managed to lose 14 straight games to lock up Lawrence, which is impressive, because it's not easy to lose 14 straight games in the NFL, even if you're trying to.   🤣

Farley was clocked once at 24 MPH. Thats fast enough to stay with ANY WR in the NFL--ANY!!!! I am making him my round 1 choice. I think he will clear his medicals. Went spying on the Dullaz board, they are also wanting Farley or Surtain with their first pick

With a CB quickness is more important than raw speed

Darby is exibit A. World class speed but a slightly better than average CB

Just don’t have a ton of video on plenty of these draftees. So...a bunch of projection going on. Hoping to see signs of growth in the smaller sample sizes. The plan needs to be athletes and speed. Get hold of some real tangibles and going to have to coach them up.

Them adding a 17th game will up the income. That should help with the cap increasing.

Got two extra playoff games as well

He's plenty quick enough

Watched us get burned deep plenty of times, speed DOES matter for a CB. I don't care how "quick" you are if you are 6 yards behind your coverage (that' means you aren't fast enough). I will take Farley as my #1 pick. We're gonna have to shore up the CB spot(as we do every year). At least lets stop the fly/post/go routes we get burned on every game. All rooks need to learn things, but you can't teach speed and if he can flat out stay with any WR in the league, I will take that. I don't see any better options in this draft. One could argue for Surtain and I would be OK with that, but my money is on Farley

Welp, here are some players that are projected to go in the top 10. I feel defense is where we should be looking. Anyone of those would be my choice. I left out the 2 QB's as I should hope we do not draft another one!

Penei Sewell – OT

Micah Parsons LB

JaMarr Chase – WR

Gregory Rousseau – Edge

Caleb Farley – CB

Patrick Surlain- CB

Here is a question for all of you to ponder:

Would you trade for NE's 15th pick sending over Hurts? I would in a second...

Yeah I am in on Farley, then taking Olave or Terrance Marshall at WR in round 2,then maybe Jabril Cox at LB in 3,although it's doubtful he lasts that long.if not I like Micah McFadden at ILB who we should be able to get later

Hard for me to know. Can Wentz be fixed? Would we use that 15 pick on another QB? Hurts is a rook, he will get better(in theory but we have seen busts before at that position), so not sure we should trade away a possible future QB that we have on rook pay scale. if he sucks in camp we can always cut him. We need IMO a rock sold O line and to fix Wentz. I feel those are the main issues. Then we could hit mostly defense in the draft. I would like to pick up another WR, even if it's say Nico Collins in 5. But if we paired a nicer one with Reagor and the others we have, I think WR would be a box we could check off for a year or 3. Also would like another RB if possible(you know in the event we ever decide to RUN THE BALL) lol. Love Sanders, but Scott taking over in the event of injury isn't something I would like.

So since we have been eliminated, do you give Wentz another shot as a starter? If you DON'T, then I feel the decision has been made to move on from him. Perhaps letting him start would give him enough confidence to fight in the offseason. IDK, it's a mess

These are the numbers for Trask. He could be had in round 2 IMO. Do we do this again??? IDK.(Yikes)

IDK, if we can't fix Wentz, I could see him going to the Saints. Payton has a good QB staff and if wentz is fixable,Sean sure could do it. Maybe Brees last year and although I like Hill ok, he is not a real fit for the Saints offense. Wentz would be as a pocket type passer, but IDK what deal we could work with them

Wentz is going no where next year. I cannot see how we could work a deal that would not strap us for Cap Space.... All of that guaranteed money would be taken from the 2021 space. What, like 34 mil?

Yeah we're stuck with him, but we can't win with him. So it's a mess

Wentz has issues. But is that due to Doug, No PS or just regression? I think most of it is due to no Preseason to tune up, work on basics and getting familiar with the WR's.  I also think Doug did nothing to help him. That may have been because Wentz refused help, I am not sure. We don't know. All we can do is guess.....

Did anyone see the MEME that said DJax was targeted 1 time against Dallas and the coaching staff didn't call a play for him the rest of the game?

If true Doug needs to be fired just for that.

The top five of the list are the guys I agree with. Really just a matter of ranking them. Once we dig deeper we may find another contender. There are two or three more Oline guys to really look at...and maybe they get in the conversation. Probably say the same about the Edge Rushers. Gotta see what kind of shape they are in without playing this season. So either they really combine trained...or maybe got fat and lazy. We’ll see.

I think he injured himself back flipping! Pedey said DJax just didn’t have the juice after that play.

Believe it to be a perfect storm of multiple issues raising their head all together.

I think DT Twyman could be on that list, and someone I would consider. Not a rusher per se (but he does ok) rather an "up the middle" run stuffer. Paye could move up into to this list as well. I think the combine will have much more focus than usual

I can't blame it on PS. Noone else had one either. Wentz makes enough to hire trainers and anyone else he wants.if he was rusty a game and a 1/2 NP, I think everyone was. The play calling IMO is still an issue for me. Once again we gave up the running game, even if it was effective. Getting chemistry with WR's is important but even early he was missing guys he had played with before, so I have a tough time blaming the Wentz disaster on that. Was Wentz calling audibles at the line,or were those play calls all on Ped? I can't say. Like you said, all we can do is guess, but my fear is it was a breakdown and culmination of all those things. other teams fixed their issues, we did not. Some can be blamed on the O line. I felt they did pretty well with PS and 2nd stringers playing against alot of teams established D lines and you can't really expect PS WR's to perform at pro bowl levels. Even with Wentz not playing he STILL leads the league in int's and sacks. That is not a good sign when you are paying mega millions for a leader. IDK what the future holds, but after this past year IDK if it can get any worse. I have been a fan since 1971 and have seen my share of shaky squads, but this one had to be the worst ever. Some individuals did well, but as a collective, this was the worst team I can recall.

And so, it's the final game of this dismal season. My question to all is, do you start Wentz? Hurts came down to earth, so starting Wentz may salvage his pride and push him to win the job back and correct all those mistakes he was making. OR do you throw in the towel, pay Wentz starting pay to ride pine? In either case, for me the S&D team needs to be shown the door because we need to keep players playing, not be sideline sweethearts. If it's me, I take a shot with Wentz again. perhaps these last few games lit a fire in his jock.If I am Ped, he would need to IMPRESS me to no end. You're the coach, what's your call??? I am starting Wentz, if he needs replaced AGAIN, then so be it, but I would give him the chance to regain some mojo. But we have to know NOW what the FUTURE is.I need to know BEFORE off season and the draft. If I am Lurie I need to know THIS WEEK. As of now, we are so bad, we have nothing to lose

Trini, you and I usually agree and we do on most of your response to my post. I rewatched the game and stick with my assessment on Hurts. After the first series and ONE PLAY, Hurts played poorly. The coaches actually DID stay with the run for two more series with 3 plays and a punt even on one of them. Yes, they should have stuck with it a bit more later, but the defense sucked so bad it probably didn't matter anyway by then. Hurts missed wide open receivers and worse....held onto the ball, ran out of bounds on 3rd downs when he had open receivers right in front of his face. That is poor QB play.  Don't get me wrong. He provided a spark for the offense those first two games AND for one series and one play he looked phenomenal. Doug can’t force Hurts to throw a ball to the guy he should nor can Doug throw it accurately for him.
I don’t know what the answer is but my hope is that they bring both back...UNLESS somebody offers a 1st round pick for Hurts. Trading Wentz now would be STUPID and awful! You gain little to NOTHING for him AND pay his enormous salary no matter what. I rather him be the backup than paying a guy that much money that is gone. I still believe he is better than Hurts.....IF AND ONLY IF....he resets and can play within the system. I would dump the coach before i would dump Wentz. I like Doug. I dont love his playcalling and worse the offense has very little innovation or change week over week. I get it...you have a playbook and you do what you do....but I would like to see some variations each week on those and I just dont.

I wouldnt miss Schwartz either, but maybe be careful what you ask for. Lure McVay away from the Rams....I know...just dreaming. I really like his adjustments week to week.
