We do this alot "oh that position is set".Then they go down and we scramble around and pay people we shouldn't if we simply kept the youth coming in. If you have things set,you don't have 14 different o line combinations. Thats insanity

You got 32 teams trying to do this. It’s never going to be perfect. The Oline was injuries. You can’t control that many injuries in one position room. What is another option? Guy gets hurt....next man in.

Options- check the turf at the Linc (may as well check the water too because this is an annual event). Fire your S&C staff and get better ones. Locate BU's with no history of injury. FInd position players, not 6 "Jack of all trades, master of none". Would this help? I have no clue, but you asked

Lot coming out of players pissed about Doug pulling Hurts.... Have to wonder if it was above his head. Doug doesn’t come off to me at least as a guy worried about draft selection but Howie and Lurie no doubt cared more for the high pick over basically a meaningless win.

Lurie and Doug meet today should be an interesting one... Stick with the fact this likely should be Dougs last chance and if it is let him hire his staff as he pleases let him sink or swim with the decisions.

Howie should also be on a short leash but highly doubt Lurie feels the same on him

The all 22 from the WFT game was good for seeing some young players (and not much else).

On offense:

Brett Toth. I was prepared to be disappointed but he was surprisingly okay. He gave up one sack against Sweat, but Sudfeld was supposed to throw the ball quickly and didn't pull the trigger. He's not ready yet, but I think he's a decent backup tackle down the road if he gains some strength. His footwork was good.

JJAW. I know everyone hates him, but I think he has a future with the team. He is a really exceptional blocker, and I think he can fill the H back role next year. He was wide open several times, and the QBs missed him. He is really good at coming across the formation and finding guys to bock on running plays, which is something we like to do with our second tight end in 12 formations. I would use him in that role, and let him run all the routes that Ertz ran this year.

Jason Huntley. He didn't do much in the running game, but was okay in pass protection. We probably need a solid #2 RB, but Huntley and Scott are fine as the #3 and #4 guys.

On defense:

TY McGill/Reaquan Williams. I think these two guys are your #3 and #4 DTs next year behind Cox and Hargrave. They looked good when they were in there, and while not very flashy, are at least decent. Williams had a sack that was gift-wrapped for him, but he was still able to generate some push.

Avery/Ostman. I am not sure either guy will be on the team next year. Avery did have a few plays where he dropped into coverage, so he might stick as a hybrid LB edge rusher. But he's not a rotational DE.

Rashad Smith. He's a linebacker who has decent tape from his game against Ohio State last year. He looked okay in this game. He had one bad play where he lost his gap assignment, but he had 3 tackles in 23 snaps, which isn't bad. He basically filled the Duke Riley role in this game, and provided just about the same production that he would have.

K'Von Wallace. A really nice game from him. He was the third leading tackler, and had a few nice plays. I think he is in the mix to start at SS next year. He worked well with Singleton and Edwards, and had sticky coverage on the TE he was guarding a few times. I also think he forced a fumble that wasn't reviewed. He looked lost when he was on the field earlier in the season, but he was much better this game.

Grayland Arnold. He was beaten by McLaurin for a TD, but that's a tough assignment for him. I think he is a solid backup slot/safety next year behind Maddox. He had a real nice tackle for a loss and a batted pass, with both plays coming on blitzes.

Jameson Houston. He played 22 snaps and looked okay, but WFT never tested him for some reason. Out of a pool of him, Craig James, Rudy Ford (who played corner this game), Kevon Seymour and Michael Jacquet we should be able to find one or two guys to be decent backup options at outside corner.

Think it depends on the QB with Hurts I could see it he seems way more willing to throw to goes give them chances... Jjaw never going to be the guy that wide open you kinda got to trust him and throw him open... Similar to Alshon.
Wentz doesn’t throw those balls as often think it part of the issue between him and Alshon.

Also not like we have to rush with anything let Jjaw compete in the off-season if he gets released it happens. He does have some promising traits though just not sure he fits with what we were doing

So what do you mean by this? What level does Pedey need to achieve? By when? New Defensive Coordinator coming in. Capped out. And on and on....

I mean if we are 4-12 again do you think Doug returns???? I can’t see that happening lol I also can’t image he returns if he fields a terrible O.

Getting new coaches isn’t an excuse lots of teams deal with this and stay success it’s like blaming COVID this year when all 32 team dealt with it

Well now we might be getting a little more specific. How’s the offense look?

Lmao 😂 I mean I didn’t think I had to spell things out for everyone to make there own judgement.... I mean imm100% fine with Doug returning but reality is this likely his last year if he fields another terrible team

Nobodies goals are to win 11 games next season, right? That can’t be the expectation.

Lmao so our goal is what 6 wins and your happy... no goal should be playoffs like every year anything less isn’t acceptable.

This team will have a strong OL when they are healthy. I strong RB group if they use them... And have invested heavy at WR and could add another this draft.

As for the D it has pieces to field very least an avg. unit needs infusion of youth again you have a draft for that. Get an actually CB #2  a LB and the unit could look completely different.

Your looking at things differently than I am. Don’t have any money. Have to get rid of people. Malik, Alshon, Mills, Vinny, Graham, Gerry, Ertz and DJax...maybe Kelce ....gone! McLeod can’t start the season.

Oh next year is going to be a mess, a complete mess. They have to let experienced players go, some of whom have been very good for this team. And their GM is literally useless in the draft.

Oh yeah...and the QB situation. And  I’m sure any defensive coordinator can implement his defense just during a TC. Week one transformed!

I think we have viable replacements for most of those guys. Malik didn't have a great year. Fulgham will be an upgrade over Jeffery. Wallace looks like he will be fine replacing Mills. Graham will restructure. Vinny costs next to nothing. Gerry? Ertz won't be missed. DJax's three catches can be replaced. We have tons of options to replace Kelce. Epps is a decent replacement for McLeod.

This team won't be any worse next year than this year, and it has the potential to be a lot better due to the experience younger players got this year and the potential that we get an entire season of good oline/qb/wr play.

https://247sports.com/ContentGallery/2021-NFL-Mock-Draft-145681526/#145681526_4     While this isnt the bible I need to say "Whooops got it right yet again!!!!!" Smith over Chase as I have been saying all along (HAHAHAHAHA----------------see I tell you haters and you don't believe me) Had JJ and Hightower for us last year(but we went Reagor which thrilled the Vikes war room to no end). IDK if we go WR in round 1,just thought this was .interesting. Now if we can finagle the 15 from the Pats, for Wentz, then I take Mac Jones(Smith's QB).That is instant chemistry we would already have. Maybe he's better than Hurts, maybe Hurts is better, but in any case you have your 1,2 QB and also as i said adding Zac Thomas as a UDFA QB gives you your #3. Wentz and Suds are outta here-DONE. Next problem

There are just to many reasons starting with the money that Wentz stays in Philly ...Aside from Howie's recent public comments that they believe this season was an aberration for Wentz...We know that Howie is doing that " GM Speak."..." Carson is staying , he is under contract However, as with All players, we will listen to Any offers that would make the Eagles better...blah..blah blah." We know that Howie has to control the conversation regarding Wentz or we won't get enough compensation.

Another issue for me...I want to see Wentz act like he wants to fight for his job.  If he doesn't want to be here we still need the right compensation. GbinNC...Agreed that sometimes we're so smart instead of making the obvious move ... you cited our selecting  Reagor over JJ...clearly JJefferson stats blows away Reagors. So many of our failed first round picks went against the grain.

I bet Lurie call PED and told him he better lose this game lol

If We trade Wentz. We should be able to use that draft capital to move up to number two overall. We are talking Fields or Lawrence now. You have to consider that scenario.

  • Author

Essentially Wentz(regardless of whichever team we trade him) and the sixth overall for Lawrence or Fields.
