Not sure if you had looked into this contract yet. It’s a steady stream of cash into Amari’s pocket each year. It’s not a backloaded contract. But it also has low dead money options for the cowboys to get out of after the first two years. Definitely different than a Rosie Magic contract. What you think?

Yes agreed.. Noticed this right from the time of signing..... " Rosie Magic"  as you call it..... Cooper is not the same type of deal as say ..... Demarcus Lawrence, Zack Martin, Tyrone Smith, Travis Frederick,  Ezekiel Elliot, Tyrone Crawford, Jaylen Smith, La' el Collins ...... Cooper is definitely different than the rest of these contracts Rosie  did for Dallas.

It’s a keep you motivated to get fresh cash contract. I think some of these guys  the big signing money only is thought of for the first season or two. Then they are looking for money. This kind of contract specializes in keeping a player hungry. Large base salary each year. So they evened everything out so Amari gets twenty mil a year while also keeping the cap hits evened out instead of backloading. And they have fairly easy outs in such a large contract. So the Cowboys aren’t tied into him if he declines or something happens.

BTW... 2 schools of thought on this one .... I believe the WR spot is going to go up nicely with this new CBA ... for Cooper, it allows Dallas to restructure the deal year 3... to get paid more.   For Dallas, it allows them to do a " Rosie Magic"  deal in order to achieve this.     Or it allows Dallas to get out of the deal with either $6mil or $4 mil of dead money in 2 or 3 years.

Dallas is interesting with their cap space.... next years they show $31 mil of cap space... but Dak is not on their list of contracts.   They need a little " Jerry Magic"

Yeah, I think you are looking too much into it .... I really think the flexibility thing and the ability to move on was the big thing.   See for you... you look at the deal lasting the whole time .... for me, I don't think it will... not on the current terms.   He got $40 mil guaranteed... that's good for now... we shall see what the WR market looks like  in a few years.  And again... take a look at the other contracts that I mentioned.   It's typical for you to cherry pick one thing that fits your agenda.... but the other contracts are the norm.  It's just what it is.

It's funny.... one " keep the player motivated contract"  out of the whole team .... and wow... this is a game changer and the way teams should do business....lol.   Or hte idea of ... Jerry can manage the cao better than Howie....lol  After like 5 years where they couldn't sign any free agents????  And their cap about to get tight again soon with the QB....lol.

WE know John Lynch has it all put together... cap space, drafting...etc.  i'm excited to see the success they will have here in these next few seasons.... as a clearly better GM than Howie... we should expect a SB and multiple playoff appearances, especially with this extra wildcard spot added in to offset any excuse of the tough division... or any incidental minor injuries like the Eagles had over the past 3 seasons.

Actually advanced stats says that the Niners suffered more lost snaps to injury than we did last season. We magnify everything that happens to us. That’s our team we know every detail. So some of the other teams throughout the league’s injury situation misses recognition. Like how you dogged out the Jets last season. But they set records with injuries(lost snap advanced calculation). So we aren’t talking about injured third stringers here. Yet the Jets were a winning team with Darnold at the helm even still.

Stats can be twisted in a number of ways.

How many snaps were lost to the Eagles on the D line alone? The WRs were playing with practice quad players at the end of the season. How many snaps were lost there?

If injuries are spread over the entire team it isn't as difficult to cover it up as when numerous injuries occur in the same position.

They factor in what they consider lost snaps. So a third string guy doesn’t really count against it. Our Dline was hit pretty hard last year. But we did have Graham and Cox the whole time at least. Our WR situation we kind of did to ourselves. We kept too few. And of the few we had Hollins and Agholor weren’t going to contribute much. But anyway we got a generous helping of missed snaps from DJax and Malik but still it wasn’t as bad as some.

I think they should have the first two regular season games be against the opposing Conference. They are shrinking the PS and padded practices. Can’t help but think it’s going to make everybody more of a work in progress to start the season. (Tiebreaker becomes conference games if it gets that far down the list)

Reports saying we are interested in Carlos Hyde

Sure..." advanced snaps.... don't tell you who gets injured though does it?   Like does the backup guy or the 5th best on the OL... the 4th best on the DL ...etc. count?   How about when you have 3 RBs injured at one time... or 3 CBs... or 3 DTs.... etc?     You can spin anything however you want... But there are no excuses now for John Lynch to not win a SB and make the playoffs for the next few years.... Howie can be a GM and have his team make it through all the injuries and hos poor drafts and awful contracts.   Clearly the great executive John Lynch should easily have great success..   It's guaranteed now since "   advanced PFF  CDC WHO or whatever ... says that the 49ers can overcome injury like no other team in NFL history.

We here in Philly tends to embellish the seriousness of having 3 RBs out at once...    We embellish the importance of getting your 2 starting WRs hurt on the first play of hte game while also losing your stud #2 TE.... clearly these things shouldn't matter.  Take the lead from SF .. .the model of excellence ... this is the future of the game.  Parades galore coming to the Bay area,

So  ... " advanced snaps"    Let me ask you a few questions.

1.  Does it take into consideration a player playing with injury?   Like we all know Cox was here the whole time... obvious he wasn't himself until the end.   Alshon really only missed limited time until the end.... but he got hurt early game 2... obviously not the same all year.   Does advanced snaps take into consideration that basically we played without are starting WRs the whole year?   Which was the reality.

2.  Darby was our starting CB .... he played a decent amount of snaps.... we all know it was obvious he wasn't himself at all.  Basically never was 100% or even close.   Pretty much not having a starting CB all year.  DT along side an injured Cox... was 4th and 5th string guys... until the 4th string guy got hurt and then Jernigan came back not 100% either.  does advanced snaps take into consideration that kind of stuff?

3.  Your 4 RBs ... Howards, Sproles, Sanders and Clement ....   tuns into Sanders and Scott.    No depth.  No experience.

4.  OL... you had Brooks coming back from serious injury at the start... Peters out.... Lane out as well as Brooks at the end...etc.

It's more than just any spin of the " advanced snaps"  how and when you lose guys ...and if they are forced to play hurt ... like to where you can tell it effects them, not just the normal  ..." everybody plays hurt, it's football"  stuff.    Any intelligent Eagles fan knows the last 3 years, especially the last 2, are not the norm.   Not sure how many guys SF had to pull off the street to go play???   Maybe " advanced snaps"  can tell us?   either way.... no excuses now for SF.

I think an opening game should always be vs division opponent.   You build up for that game... plenty of time to prepare ...etc.   Game 1, start the season with important game.   don;t over think things... it's how you get in trouble in life.    If you aren't prepared.... it's your fault.   Things are even, nobody has an advantage... injuries are no excuse either... I refuse to allow any other NFL team to use that anymore... since it didn't matter for the Eagles... and everything was the GM's fault.   No excuses... play ball.

As a Philly fan .... game 1 vs the Cowboys..... Mets ... Penguins ... or Celtics would be awesome.   Get the season started with a rivalry and get into it right from the start.   Builds the anticipation even more.  It's what sports is all about.

I think there is one thing a couple of folks on this board embellish and that is being "HOMERS". Yep those rose colored glasses will do that to you! We had so many injuries last year we just couldn't compete but who brought the old men in here to begin with?  It must have been Lynch. LMAO

Carlos Hyde 7 years in the league. 4.1 career rushing yard average. 129 career receptions however 59 of those receptions were in one year. He is 6ft 236 pounds and goes by the nickname of El Guapo!  4.62 40 time.

Only issue is it was not just old men that were getting hurt on the team... Malik/JP/Sproles/hell Djax.... What about Mills who was hurt starting the year, Clement, Howard, AG(though he was bad played hurt toward the end) Jones, Brooks, Lane, Ridgeway that talking last year, Barnett has dealt with injures as well.

Lane Johnson missed 4 games. The Eagles won 3 of them. I don't show Brandon Brooks missing any regular season games last year. He missed the playoff game against Seattle which the Eagles lost but he played in the regular season game against Seattle when they lost as well. Until the Eagles figure out a way to beat Russel Wilson it makes no difference to me who is in the game against them. Jones played in 12 games last year but only missed a half of football against the Packers with his hamstring and the Eagles won that game. He had 3 healthy scratches last year and started 4 games. Howard missed 6 games and the Eagles were 4 -2 in the games he missed. The Eagles were 1-1 in the two games backup Ridgeway missed. Looks like the Eagles missed Barnett the most. They lost both games that Barnett was out of the lineup against the Vikings and Cowboys. I can't be bothered to look up the stats on Agholor, Clement and Mills. Agholor has been irrelevant every year of his rookie contract except for one year. I don't even know if Clement will make the roster this year and Mills has been playing out of position for his whole rookie contract.

Jones played through a hammy injury if you watched the games you can see... Losing Jernigan, Ridgeway and Malik might not seem huge in total but being on a 4th or 5th DT to pair with Cox who was also coming off an injury.

How many CBS did we lose last year to injury???? Maddox, Darby, Jones, Mills started hurt and came back after missing damn near a year, Leblanc started off injured.

Lost Howard after Chicago game and we lost the next 3 without him massive blow when you have to change up the ground game.

Fact is team has had injury problem for last couple years I have question the medical staff a ton and it’s a cop out to say it is the old guys because it hasn’t been just the older players been the young guys to

What’s laughable is your biased view the only looks at one side....

Mills, Darby, Barnett, Sweat, Semaulo, Howard, Lane, Ertz, Perkins, Jernigan, Ridgeway, Alshon, Ajayi, KGH, Hicks, Jones, Hollins, AG, Maddox, Leblanc, Wentz injuries the last 2 years of guys under 30

Yup though only the old guys getting hurt that was the issue

And I’m missing some guys

Speaking of injuries. Maybe it's just me but it sure seems there are more soft tissue injuries now than there were  years ago when TC was a real ball buster.

Too bad there's no way to go back and find out for sure.
