IDK maybe he thought we would just keep passing over him(as we have) and he had a better chance at in Detroit. Sometimes even a lateral move is because people just need a change

Goodwin?

Move for Duce gets him more contacts.       Yes Goodwin, not cheap for 2021... $4.281 mil ..all counts toward the cap and would be saved by cutting him

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/04/26/report-eagles-marquise-goodwin-agree-to-restructure/    Joe,this is Goodwins contract and due to his opt out,it will be the same. This is NOT a big amount

plus the bonus... They need the cap space... doubt they give him the $4.3 mil.    Easy cut.

1.35 mil is pretty cheap. I will hang onto him, see what he brings

1.35 mil was 2020 ... we are in 2021 now.  The year 2 amount.   He redid the deal for lower year one cost, that was last year.  Now if they can negotiate a price down again, and not guarantee the $$, sure.  But they need the $4 mil.

So... local radio... both stations.    All the talk is that this new QB coach has known Hurts since he was a little kid.   It's a sign Wentz is out and they are going all in with Hurts.    Must be nice not being a local fan without the soap opera of the local media.    No mention of how this guy was at his job.... all about Hurts and Wentz.... lol.    Just saying because nobody on here has mentioned it yet, and I have no clue about college ball or who this new QB coach is.

What local radio isn’t talking about though is how the QB he was just coaching was like a carbon copy of Wentz at 6’5 240 in Kyle Trask.

Definitely media trying to make up a story lol

Due to covid opt out we paid basically a weekly sum to put the contract on "hold" So my understanding is the 1.35 would still be valid(aka entire contract was postponed a year)

Thanks for the insider info we don't get to hear. The QB coach coached DAK and did a nice job with Trask for the Gators

Maybe they're just trying to add fire to the questionable QB situation LOL

Mentioned this in the official OC thread in TATE. Criticism of Steichen includes not calling plays to a player’s strength ... specifically he failed to roll Herbert out more which, when he did, he excelled (sound familiar?!?!).  Pep Hamilton gets most of the credit for Herbert’s development ... was hoping we’d look at him for OC.

If they are nit picking Herbert who was vastly successful his rookie year because he wasn’t rolled out enough think that’s all it is plus the Chargers O from what I recall was pretty good.

But on the other side of things I’m fully expecting Siri to call plays and his supposed strength is coaching and using player toward there strengths.

Guess only time will tell though

Will add I did want to add Pep as well mentioned him as OC and even QB coach.

I don’t disagree.  I can’t say I know anything about Steichen.  That was just something I came across and found it interesting.  That other piece also stated Chargers fans were happy to see him go. All in all I have no reason to hate on the staff Sirianni is putting together.  To me it is a complete unknown.  That alone adds a level of excitement.

I found that crazy because since before Doug got fired I wanted someone from the Chargers because of there offense specifically. OC want my top choice was probably my 3rd of the 3 guys but was still happy to add one

Texans apparently hiring David Culley

I have zero doubt the head coach will be calling the plays.  I believe the OC will be helping put together the game plan etc.  To me, I could care less how the plays were called in LA, I'm sure the head coach had an influence, especially with the idea of running the ball TOO MUCH!  That's usually a head coach type of general idea.   If this guy just works together well with Siri prepping for the game, that's enough for me.   Being good at calling plays and being good at designing them, I feel are two different things and one can be good at one and not necessarily the other.

I'm not sure how that works... being that I'm not sure a lot of guys would have opted out this year and have to earn another year of service before going to free agency.    I think that was part of the negotiations prior to the start of the year with the players union.    But in this particular case, I could see it with Goodwin if they threw that in there.  Or even just he agrees to play for the lower number.  Right now his cap hit is showing $4.281 mil  all goes away if he gets cut.

BTW... I am absolutely good with releasing DeSean.... but I just brought up him taking a pay cut in the event it saves more vs the cap... because what would it matter if he is on IR anyway...lol  Would it be worth him being here and on IR if it saved a million or two vs the cap as compared to being released?    IDK, I probably would prefer to save the extra money and keep him. If we offer him $3 mil as his total salary / roster/workout bonus ... we save about a million vs releasing him.   I would offer him $2 mil, basically say " you owe us anyway, it's $2 million you won't get if you retire, and if another team wants you after the June 1 date, we will be ok working out a trade for a conditional 2023 7th rounder.   But the Eagles get that $$ right off the cap ASAP.    I would even tell Desean, you can fake an injury and go on IR if you want...lol.  At least you get paid.

IDK, I could understand that with Djax. Really for me personally, with a new staff,I would prefer "new" players.Let them learn, gel, grow together. We pay out alot for players that do nothing. My issue is finding out why we are always one of the top injury riddled teams. There has to be a reason, it's not a "one year wonder" we are consistently near the top.I would check everything, Is the water bad? Is the turf bad at the Linc? Something small has been overlooked. I suppose none of the WR talk matters if we don't have a QB. As a fan, I would really like to hear from Wentz, so keep us posted on the local banter. I only get info from articles and pressers, but you get to hear the live local radio (I think it's WIP?). We pretty much wiped out out entire staff, so this should be interesting to say the least. I am not on Twitter and I don't plan to be

With having a new coaching staff it would be helpful if covid went away - not just for the obvious reasons like human well being (foremost) and the false security political BS - as it would be especially beneficial to have a REGULAR pre-season.

There is NO reason not to have a normal off season since people in this age group are more likely to die in a traffic accident than from covid.

Are they gonna ban players from driving cars?

This is good, I thought there was another update to this where they could take a higher amount than the $150k with teams having the option of control?  Either way, they are showing a cap hit of $4.281 mil for Goodwin at the moment.  If it goes down to just over a million,  I have no issue giving him a tryout.   However,  at this point I don't see the need for him as a mentor,  these young guys have all had a season of experience,  more so than he did with the team and either QB.  His play would be the only reason to bring him back for me.

Actually covid is the 3rd ranked cause of death in the US behind heart disease and cancer. according to the CDC and NIH

Either way you're dead.
