Doesn't sound like there's any shot Ertz is back, so be it. Part of me wanted some sort of reconciliation, the cap space and pick more valuable right now.

I've always been a big Ertz fan - never understood the criticism he took from our fanbase - but considering our cap situation and the emergence of Goedert, it is time to move on.  Get what  you can from him.  The draft pick and cap relief are both much needed.  Need to pay Goedert this upcoming season - virtually impossible to pay 2 TEs top $.

Lot of Ertz hate comes from 1 poor play vs Cincy. And the fact he was the same type of hard nosed gritty TE like Celek was.  But Ertz was the far superior receiving threat walking in the door and made strides as a blocker was never the top notch blocker but was serviceable.

I will say that Geodart has the making to be better then Ertz and in the realm of Kittle in that all around TE. 
Geodart is generally always near the top in terms of blocking and when he has been given the chances as the #1 TE has shown good play. 

So we trade Ertz(which is seeming likely), cut Malik/Alshon... Thought I read we reworked couple other deals already as well thought one was Cox but not sure.

I don't remember a lot of Ertz griping until this year.

This year definitely seen issues between Ertz and the FO. Ertz wanted to get paid again thinking he is on the same level of Kelce/Kittle then Hooper getting more then him also. 
FO the business side of things didn’t make sense for us to pay him more. 

Watson has officially requested a trade out of Houston.

Watson has a no trade clause in his contract will makes things a it more interesting see how it plays out. Now both sides would have to find a team to give up the compensation for Watson and it has to be a team Watson agrees to

There has been plenty of criticism of Ertz over the past several years ... goes down immediately upon contact, can't block, etc.  

Or Houston trades up in the draft, still cost a boat load of picks

Heard Watson has already asked formally for a trade. And yes he has a no trade clause.

The won’t block...was pretty fair. This season he was clearly the biggest letdown of anyone. 

Heard the Jets are also high on Watson list if your the Jets offer up #2 some other picks and you could be good to go.

Yea Ertz wasn’t even close to Wentz again let’s be real about it lol. 

Ertz was our top pass catcher. Him flailing and the offensive line woes are the biggest reasons for  Wentz failure.

And lot of those sacks were taken on by Wentz and Wentz fighting with the coach and missing wide open players... dumb decisions list goes on and on

Wentz was the biggest letdown of the year and what makes it worse you fight with the coach force your own plays and still play like crap 

Jets have the #2 overall pick. Financially they're better off simply taking a QB there and keeping what Watson would cost. Really can't tell how well Watson or whoever the #2 QB's going to be

No doubt he deserved some criticism this year for what appeared to be lack of effort.  Maybe he was trying to play through some kind of injury that wasn't reported.  Or maybe sulking because he didn't get the contract he thinks he deserved.  If the latter shame on him ... he should know what our cap situation is like and that there is no way we'd be able to pay him top dollar (especially at his age).  

Most of the criticism in past years wasn't really warranted though.

Watson is a proven guy and has been a star since entering the league and was playing at a high level this year with nobodies. 
 

Idk I’d take Watson and his contract over any of the QBs in this class
