Bringing JP back is not that bad of a thing....I mean competition if Dillard wants to start beat JP out by no means an easy task but not impossible either. Even if JP is the starter he likely misses time and couple games so Dillard will still see the field probably even get a couple starts. Yes we spent a 1st rounder on him to become the replacement LT but at the same time don’t think we have to rush it either. See plenty of young guys that have to sit couple years before getting the job turned over to them.

Only real issue I see even with JP back is what would the plan be if something happened to Lane?????  Being a switch OT is not easy having Big V who could play left and right was a small blessing don’t see Dillard as the guy on the right side or JP...

I don’t see where all are thinking about Peters at this time. We need to get some kind of practices in and get these young guys reps. Dillard needs them. Seumalo needs them. Pryor has earned a good share. Mailata should get his show me shot. Opeta and Herbig trying to get snaps to have any chance of gaining traction. We grabbed two rookies that we need to look at. You know all these hungry young guys. Let’s see who wants to eat!

UH because if none of them can handle it,you are putting your QB at risk? While I am all for competition,I need to KNOW,not HOPE someone has stepped up

Now,back to football............................If we thought JP was usuable, even as a BU,why are we waiting? JP could be a useful BU elsewhere, or even start the season.I could see this for us if we feel Dillard is close, but not there yet.He has the unenviable position of replacing a pro bowler. Never easy.In fact Dillard doesn't need to be a pro bowler(although it would be nice),he just needs to be "adequate".We put the monkey on Dillard's back by releasing JP.I believe they are giving Dillard a chance to show he can take over before we re-sign JP(if we did).He should have shown us that already, but apparently the JP door is still ajar or we would not even be discussing this

What chance are they giving Dillard now?  A chance to " virtually " show them stuff.  On Facetime or Zoom?  What chance is he getting?   Peters isn't going to play football in 2020 as a backup. Not for any team.  If the Eagles sign him it gives them 2 guys at LT vs just one.    I wouldn't overthink things too much.

There is no " show me something now" there is no practice through this crap of times we are living in.

Even if JP is signed how much do we really think he will practice early on probably not much...So those young guys still get there reps

Welp, they have to go off the assumption of what he did last year. Was he good enough last year to be the starter?

I don't care who wins practice lol

I want the best player to start. I am disappointed that a first round T that we moved up to select we are second guessing this pick . We lack confidence in Dillard to start in year 2 is difficult to accept. Peters is not coming back to be a b/up. Could we not see Dillard's lack of aggression before moving up and wasting picks on him.

Are you guys seeing anything from the team that they are disappointed with Dillard? All i'm seeing is fan comments and reporters who have been inaccurate in the past. Since i'm not in the Philly area a lot of times I miss stuff that you guys catch.

My take is simply results oriented, JP was simply better last yr. Pedey's always saying iron sharpens iron. Bringing JP back is the best situation for Dillards' development and the team.

Even some first round picks take time to develop,so I can't write Dillard off yet. He's doing better than that other terrific pick we made with MS2 lol🙄. So far no takers on JP.We have the advantage because he knows this offense, other teams may pass him up simply because of his age and that he would be unfamiliar with any other teams workings. So,I suspect he will cave and come back at a lesser price than he wanted. Can't really make too many demands at 38

Yeah,I think it's a "pricing" issue now.Wasn't there some kind of tiff last year with Dillard in camp? Seems he is frustrated? Can't have that at LT

It was for Ham who was worried about the reps for the youngsters if JP was resigned...Which he likely would not effect much

Think Barnett(or maybe it was Graham)and Dillard got into it little bit...But nothing serious sort of thing that tends to happen during heat camp practices

It looked like total confidence. Let V get paid and leave. Made an early public announcement of Peters not returning. The move was made to Dillard. Everybody has been in lockdown ever since. Really isn’t much that could have happened. Only thing is if they had a Zoom conference and he was totally out of shape or something. Like he had spent the whole offseason eating and not working out.

In my getting admittedly way too far ahead of things: I could see Warren coming in the third series of the game and the same in the second half. I see him as able to step in quickly as an early down runner. Not sure he’s ready for pass blocking responsibilities. And I can’t say I know much about how ready he is to contribute as a pass catcher. First and second down...I like him as the punishing physical runner. He has good vision to bust it. But rarely goes down easy....or by one guy. So he makes those defenders earn it. Just a great setup for Sanders and Scott.

I like Warren in those short yardage situations also. He has a good knack for those.

We are projected to be fifty mil over the cap in 2021. But if fans aren’t  in attendance the cap won’t be going up like has always been the case...but suffer significantly. Especially if games are cancelled also because of COVID19. It’s a potentially crippling situation for our franchise. The cap could be much less in 2021 because of all these factors.

Who is the back up at LT?   Forget the idea of lacking confidence in Dillard.... the Eagles like to have backups at OT.   Who is it?   I think Peters wants to come back.  Some of the vets want him to come back.  I don't think it's about Dillard as much as some of the guys liking Peters and the fact that he didn't sign anywhere else because he likes it here.   I do believe the Eagles thought he would sing with another team ASAP in free agency.  Now he is still available, probably turning down other teams and expressing that he wants to come back... I'm sure players like Kelce and Lane have gotten wind of that... and are like yeah we love having him on the team.

At this point an injury to Dillard could leave us screwed a LT.  Peters here gives the 2 options and depth.  But I think if it was all about no confidence in Dillard... another move at LT would have already been made.

I thought the salary cap is determined from the revenue expected to come in the current year.    So the 2021 # will be based on 2021 revenue.... not 2020?   Everything I'm reading suggests this?

As for " crippling"  the Eagles..... lets look....

Carryover from 2020 .... probably going to be around $15 to 17 mil when it's all done... but let;s just say $15.

$50  mil over doesn't take into consideration Goodwin.... they still show him making almost $4 mil this year plus $ mil next year.      But we all know he ain't playing for $7 mil.
So factor rollover, plus Good win... gets it down to $28 mil.  to stay conservative... probably closer to $25 though.    Alshon and DeSean will be cut...  another $13 mil.    Brings it down to $15 mil.

Barnett isn't going to play for the # showing.... say he gets a real extension... probably saves $7 mil.... brings it down to $8 mil.

You pick the rest of the moves.... but IMO with all these new QB deals that I see coming ... Wentz will get redone... and depending on the exact strategy (I believe it will be combining 2021 & 2022 salaries into a signing bonus and an extension to 2026) Age 33 for a QB .... that will lower his cap hit by around $16 mil

That gets you $8 mil under with a draft class from 2021 to sign... probably need to address Ertz either trade or extension.... could probably extend Hargrave.   Maybe redo Cox.

The idea is 2022 should be more than fine with cap space... but 2021 don't expect much in FA.    I don't see it as crippling, just that we will need to rely on some young players to step up.  The turnover needs to happen anyway.  And before complaining about pushing money down the road for Wentz... take a look at his cap hits compared to other guys now.... but also wait until you see the big #s these next guys are going to get.   It's why Dak is going to play for the tag this year... and Mahomes is going to bring in probably $45 mil per year.   Saving money for Wentz and then 2023 causing an extra $8 mil of a cap hit isn't going to be a huge deal at all.  Easy to build when the QB #s are in place.

The NFL is going to have to have some sort of exemptions for next year. How are teams going to chop off that much cap Space? Not only the Eagles will have this issue. I am sure half the league will.....

I had the same thoughts actually! They've surely got to make exemptions because otherwise half the league will be out of work? Or players would have to take massive pay cuts and I'm not sure that's going to happen.

Just a little reminder folks. When the Eagles won the Super Bowl they did not have Jackson or McCoy on the roster and Peters went down in game 7 of the regular season. Sproles was not playing that year after the third regular season game.

Peters has missed 13 regular season games and three playoff games in the last three years.

Jackson has missed 19 regular season games in the last three years.

McCoy has missed 5 games in the last two years in a reduced capacity of carrying the ball.

Sproles missed 33 out of 48 regular season games in the last three years.

Romanticizing these old players isn't getting it done.

Didn’t 14 of Jackson’s 19 missed games happen last year???? So take that away missed 5 games...

don’t romanticize them realize they likely to miss a few games matters if they can help when healthy...
