Like I gotta ask..... the idiot says this " QB factory" thing ... nobody else in the world thinks this way, in fact he gets ripped all the time for saying it... he even said he regrets saying it, but it was in obvious defense at the press conference after making the pick, he was shocked at how everyone thought he was an idiot.     Yet you keep talking about QB factory.  Why?   I get it that you would draft a top QB if he was there... it makes the most sense to me because I don't think Hurts type wins... there is only one Russell Wilson, getting a guy that looks like him and interviews well doesn't mean anything.    But Howie needs that being the smart guy in the room... winning like 2017 isn't satisfactory to him... thats where you get QB factory.... words of an idiot trying to be smartest guy in the room... but it's irrelevant, nobody else thinks that.

Don't want a factory ,I want a coherent QB who can play the game and an adequate BU who can hold his own and 1,2 guys with upside/ceiling who could develop. IMO I wanted a rook UDFA annually and lose the worst and I have ZERO clue why we kept Suds here for eons when all along we could have found guys with greater potential. not that I am craving a #3 QB,but that guy can develop into a 2 and not remain a #3 we pay for 5 years for no real apparent reason other than to list 3 QB's because we have a "space" on our roster for one that needs filled

IDK we had Suds for a long time and he sucks, so if that's our factory, we're going BK year 1, then we can have a PRE fire sale

Plus we had the fifth round pick the year before ...from northwestern ?  Or something. Didn’t make the team.

Case in point. If it was my call, I would like to have Wofford in here, just to have him

Just FYI, winning titles at ND State isn't exactly beating Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. As far as what's important to him, he signed the contract, so at some point the $128 million was important.

And he was outplayed by Hurts this year. Plain and simple, he looked worse than a second round rookie by any metric. His mechanics were bad, his decisions were bad and the oline was begging the coach to make a switch because he was making their job harder.

So if he wants to win a Super Bowl, he has a lot to fix before he's outdueling Rodgers, Brady and Mahomes.

I get that people are ready to leap off the ledge, and want Lurie to hire a new GM who will never draft a bad player or sign a bad contract, and this Wentz trade talk is driving everyone even more insane than usual, but my only point is that things aren;t going to get easier for Wentz if he's traded. Fans are thinking his value is negative right now, namely that a team should get draft picks for putting him on the roster. So if a team trades for him and he continues to struggle, how is that going to work out for him.

I think you are drastically underestimating the impact the mental side of the game can have on pro athletes. Once they lose confidence, it's tough to get it back.

But I think you put too much stock into a guy who probavbly thinks he has nothing to prove... that winning is what will shut people up and that's all that matters.   You are saying.... don't take the good job yet... prove yourself first in the bad job... Like " start in the mailroom"    The problem with that is ... 32 teams, same job, there is no mail room to work your way up.    The issue I see... is fans feel he owes us something because for some reason we don't think another team would have paid him or something.  IMO he can easily look at it like , you all would have never won your only SB without me.   I want to win a SB.

And winning vs Alabama is irrelevant ... he was playing a game to win, that is the object of the game.  So he wants to win on the level that he is playing in now.   As for being outplayed by Hurts... not his problem anymore is it?   The metric he wasn't outplayed... was scoring.  The other metric completion % ... and reality, once teams cut of his running in 2nd half of games, Hurts was pretty bad.    But again, there is no mailroom in the NFL, if so you are insinuating correctly though that the Eagles would be that mailroom, for that I agree.   I just know for me, I play a sport to win, not for anyone else's opinion.   If I was to play for money, the reality is the league pays me, doesn't matter which team it is, so I would prefer to play for the better team.  I guess the analogy would be, would you clean toilets or greet people at the front door if the pay was the same?   Even better... would you clean Howie's toilet, or go greet people with Frank Reich?

Sure, not taking a guy just to take one. There are weak draft years, but this is nice QB draft, even the UDFA guys could have potential. Brady White is no slouch and I know we like Zac Thomas from App st. lets take one of them. Later, if a  better UDFA comes along, you lose your present guy and you made the team better even if it's only a depth role. Costs little to do that, but NO,we keep Suds here for basically no reason. I wanted to see him play and I saw all I needed to see. That's how we develop a QB after 5 years? OMG!!!

So.. again, its not about what you are saying about drafting a QB... this was Ham and I discussing Wentz and Doug, He basically was saying Wentz wanted Doug fired.  I was saying both guys had issues with Howie.     This article basically says that Hurts was Howie's guy, which I thought was obvious how Doug refused to want to put in Hurts and really didn't seem to like running that running QB offense.   Howie is the guy behind all the mess... and the PR making Wentz out to be this bad human... it serves Howie to get everyone on board with it.  Similar to the BS about DeSean being in a gang when we got rid of him the first time.    I think Doug wanted out, wanted to do things his way... I think Doug getting fired only made Wentz want to be here less.  I think both guys were like... we won a SB, we won the division last year with the crap you gave us... you gave us more crap and now you want to tell us who to hire as coaches and which QB to play.   Ham seemed to think it was Wentz wanting Doug out or something.

Wentz didn’t want to listen to Pedey. Went complaining over his head to Lurie and Rosie. Was called uncoachable for never admitting fault in the film room, playing favorites with targets, regardless of playcall supposed progression and killing plays before he left the huddle(going rogue and becoming  the team’s OC and playcaller). Wentz wanted Pedey gone. Pedey wanted to have the power to be in charge to make a talented QB achieve his potential...but more importantly the whole team offense potential. They fired Pedey and brought in the next best thing to Reich for Wentz. But what they underestimated is the tarnish Wentz image took over everything. He still wanted out because he lost that golden boy shine in this city.

Hey Joe,answer this or see if I am remotely correct. Howie wants to put a guy in simply because he wants to, expects him to win all alone, so he can blame the player and coaches. Am I far off? I seems like a recurring issue. Wentz did that, but when he had a bad year, next failure up?

Well Ham,we have a reprieve. We got a new QB coach,so hopefully he can develop these guys.IDK after 5 years I can find better guys playing street ball than Suds. I hope that's the end of that BS

Pedey and Duce are gone because of Wentz. Fractured relationship Wentz felt with Pedey. Wentz doesn’t want hard coaching. Duce would have been a good HC for us....but for Wentz. Duce is going to ride him like a drill Sargeant. That isn’t working. So I don’t blame Duce for not wanting to be around Primma Donna Wentz team. I’m sure he felt Rosie should have given the job to him and let Wrntz walk. I’m thinking Duce would be a Hurts guy. Of all the people involved. I really think Duce would be definitely Hurts over Wentz.

I’ll slow down then.

First: Trade Wentz that we drafted, developed and then signed.

Second: play Hurts and resign him in three more seasons.

Third: Draft a developmental QB this year. And..,ugh...develop him.

Fourth: trade Hurts or 2020 rookie by the time HIS contract comes do. Four more years.

This would be a QB factory blueprint plan, no?

1) NP 2) Not convinced-too soon to know for me 3) Hurts played 4 games, he's as "developmental" as a high rook pick no?  4) If they both can play I'm keeping them both and developing late rounders or UDFA's unless I get a ridiculous offer for my 2, at which point my #3 better be ready to be my 2, then I start again. Did Suds EVER threaten  to take the #2 spot? EVER?

Ham, we drafted Hurts, and we had perennial #3 Suds and we had SO much confidence in the last 2, that we paid McCown weekly to sit home and watch TV as an "emergency" QB. Does that tell you anything?(I'm sorry I find this comical as hell)

Obviously not everybody works. The Northwestern guy didn’t make it past camp. He was the old beater that kept breaking down. Suds topped out at third stringer. Basically a econo Kia with no heat or AC. Then we pump out Wentz that is a BMW but took on water damage. Maybe Hurts becomes that Hummer? Right now his contract is at Volkswagen level. Which we’ll take.

Yeah we're discussing that now

Gotta pick the stories you want to believe now lol. If it was Wentz and Doug not getting along and Wentz got him fired and Doug wanted Hurts then you have to also think the team isn’t high on Hurts.

If this story is to be believed likely means Wentz/Doug so called beef was overplayed since Doug still wanted him and we are out of our SB HC and Wentz because Howie thinks is he smarter then everyone and Hurts is the guy.

But does it matter what you think? This is what they told you they were doing back before they took Northwestern dude. Said they planned on drafting a QB every year....or near to it.

I don’t mean any offense to your opinion. I’m just pointing out THEIR opinion. To successfully execute their plan....I laid out how it would work.

Of course likely the part that fits your narrative lol

Well,if the guy from NW didnt work you can't find a better guy off the UDFA list to try? Nah we just give up and thats that. Pointless waste of time. We can always count on McCown though

McCown Pedey wanted as a coach. But he was enjoying his kids in Texas.

Right so we paid him to do that. I would gladly take the loot also if I'm getting paid to stay home ( sorry, this is STUPID) I don't remember  ANY other team having an "emergency" QB. The "emergency" is "we are a clueless org that needs a BU we can pay to stay home. Superb management(not)

Go back and tell me what you agree or disagree with my opinion about that article. Or do you just believe that whole article?

Think it boils down to two simple things it was the QB the FO wanted that got Doug fired. If you believe it was Hurts as the FO guy then Wentz and Doug and everything surrounding them is just good media feed by Howie to make a reason to fire Doug not just he isn’t doing it my way.

If you believe Doug wanted Hurts would suggest the FO isn’t high on him

So Ham in essence we paid McCown to play before "Duds". So why have Suds and pay them both? Senseless
