Not that any of will ever know, but my gut says his problem with Howie was because he didn't use that high pick (2020 2nd rd) on a player that could help him but on a player that could potentially replace him.

Probably part of the issue. Also the fact that we haven’t drafted really any help for Wentz since he came to Philly.

We get JJaw and Reagor and watch DKs and Jefferson kill it. Howie trying to out his favorite target in Ertz probably doesn’t help either. Then coming in and saying instead of building more on the team to help I’ll get a backup in round 2

Regarding the bolded, not sure if the struggle was between Wentz and Ped or if Lurie was just disenchanted with Ped for wanting to promote Taylor.  Kicking Ped out to say Wentz won and then to have Wentz still want out doesn't really add up IMO.

But like with everything else going on ... who the F knows?!?!

IDK at the start of the season noone could have predicted we lose 2 sets of O line guys and our best WR's lol. No weapon you got in round 2 would have done squat. We just saw Mahomes look ,like total crap and he HAS an O line lol What bugs me are Wentz's misses on wide open guys(when we had those). Was he missing intentionally? IDK

Lots of thinks could have happened especially with Wentz getting hit so often likely rushed his throws and felt invisible pressure leading to poor throws.
Reports came out that Wentz would end up looking down to see the rush as soon as he said hike as well.... Consistently getting drilled by 300 pound grown men will do that to you lol.

Even greats feel pressure look at Tom Brady and go watch games when pressure gets to him and he is getting hit he misses throws he usually doesn’t.

I'm talking about the(few) times he was unencumbered and missing guys by 6 yards with no pressure and also staring down receivers which is pathetically "rookie like"

Not really a great list and that’s a pretty huge gap between players finding success... Teddy B already seems to be done in Carolina they been looking for a new QB

Why I don’t want to get stuck in that middle ground range without a QB

No, not allot of people, but if you include QB's taken with pick 10 and after the first round, you have at least 10 in the last 20 years.... Just saying it is not impossible. Of course if you look at our track record, maybe we will need a first pick!  LOL

IDK people keep saying "bears trade" Sorry I love Foles, but he's not my franchise QB. Fine as a BU,but then we are back to "all in" on Hurts, but at least we know we'd have a decent BU for him,so IDK,confused as usual. This team continually confuses me

Except Tom comes back from those, Wentz didn't

Tom doesn’t consistently get hit is the difference. But definitely shows the effects of getting hit

Exactly that the effects of being hit all season long you start to feel pressure that isn’t there. Honestly this has happened to lots of QBs over the years. Especially when they are stuck behind bad OLs.

This is true. Also, we need to consider that many of those sacks were due to not getting rid of the ball. He held onto the ball way too long trying to make things happen. Had he tossed the ball away after 2.5 seconds I bet 1/3 of those sacks disappear. He got 8 sacks the first game. Games 2-4 he had a total of 6, yet his stats stunk. I agree that sacks will hurt the QB, but he has to help himself too. Everyone keeps saying our O-Line stunk this year, yet we had one of the best yards per attempt on rushing the ball in the NFL. Not bad for 3rd stringers....

Wentz took an average of 3.27 seconds to get rid of the ball thru the first 6 weeks. Second most in the NFL at that time. Not many Offensive Lines will hold up for that period of time all game.

Maybe, but he gets the ball out fast by making fast decisions and acting on them and not looking at 5 places before deciding

Then RUN the ball LOL(which Ped refused to do)

No surprise.  He probably had disdain for Howie for having used a 2nd rd pick on a QB.  Rather than using the pick on someone who can help him Howie took someone that could potentially replace him.  His ego is too fragile to handle it apparently.  He's not the first QB to have this happen.  GB did the same by drafting Love (and that was a 1st rd pick).  Rodgers responded in a completely different manner ... league MVP season.

Look at what Rodgers had to work with... compared to Doug and Wentz.  Each year roster has been worse.  Curious if you think that isn't the major issue,  especially after watching Mahomes on Sunday put up 9 points behind that awful OL play... except he still had Kelce and Hill.   Doug and Wentz had it similar via OL, but nothing close to Kelce and Hill.  We invest ridiculous time in the draft and free agency, because teammates matter.

I don't think it comes down to one pick as to why Howie isn't a popular fellow.  Nor why Doug and Wentz, or even Hurts for that matter, didn't have much success this year.  On top of the fact that Howie has turned the roster into such a pathetic one... his draft history has been pathetic since picking Wentz. The cap is in shambles this year and the good players are all over 30.   I don't think it's an ideal job to have, let alone compete for if you are vet QB. Worst job in football.... caused by Howie.

All good points, no doubt.  There is so much dysfunction with this team right now ... it’s hard to pinpoint any one thing as being the main culprit for Wentz’s animosity (it could very well be collective of everything).

Yeah, I have never in all my fan years seen a team in this dismal of a state. We have all suffered through "bad years", but this one takes the proverbial cake. Thats what sad,we always had the cake, maybe not the icing, but now we don't even have a cake plate-pfffffft   FORK IT!!   Just draft "Clemson". I bet they would kick us into the next zip code

I didnt see that.  I saw someone knowing nobody was open, heading towards the LOS still looking to thrown.  Then having to run because nobody is open and his oline has collapsed.

i like his game.  He reminds me of vick but he doesnt have that speed or arm strength.  But that isnt a knock on hurtz either because vick was was a freak athletically.

So if Doug wanted Wentz

Lurie supposedly wanted Wentz

How did Howie convince Lurie to fire Doug and move on from Wentz.

My personal take on the Wentz situation is that it seems like Carson thought there would be more of a demand for his services and that the team would find it much easier to trade him than what has ended up happening.

If you think about it, the Jets, Bears and Colts would all be jumping through hoops to grab him if the price were something like a first (early 20s) round pick and a third round pick. Those picks aren't enough to move up for a solid prospect, and you would easily pay that for a qb who is cost controlled for four years in his prime.

But the fact that those three teams are all hesitating shows that they don't believe in him, and all three have close connections to him through Reich/Taylor, Douglas and Defilipo.

So we will see what happens npw.

Mmmm I think the FO ie Howie was expecting a bigger demand for Wentz.... Pretty sure Wentz is perfectly fine if it was only the Colts that wanted him and he was dealt for a ham sandwich

Also have to wonder with these new reports if Lurie set a price for Howie to be ableto move Wentz
