My fear is they hand the LT job to Dillard just because he was a #1 pick

Dillard only gave up like one sack in college...do remember. There was a reason they jumped to trade up to get him once he fell just far enough. Should be a competition. Mailata looked decent. He had some great moments. Some dominating pancake blocks. But he also had some moments he looked lost and out of his league a little. I don’t want to come off too harsh. But it isn’t good enough as far as I’m concerned. But that was his first live action. He needs to keep improving and he should be good. But I like the idea of the competition. If Dillard actually wins out we have good options. Dillard can inly play LT. Not sure it matters too much for Mailata which side he’s on. But I feel pretty good having Dillard and Mailata at LT. Whichever wins and if an injury happens and we need the backup to come in.

How did Howie convince Lurie to fire Doug and move on from Wentz.

He has pictures of Lurie on Epstein island?

IMO Mailata was better than most rookie tackles. Look at his PFF ratings and watch Baldys analisys of his play.

He's only gonna get better.

I didnt see that.  I saw someone knowing nobody was open, heading towards the LOS still looking to thrown.  Then having to run because nobody is open and his oline has collapsed.

i like his game.  He reminds me of vick but he doesnt have that speed or arm strength.  But that isnt a knock on hurtz either because vick was was a freak athletically.

Hurts looks more durable than Vick

Wentz didn’t want Pedey. Especially since Pedey wanted more power. Wanted the buck to stop with him. Only way to fix Wentz. The coddling and insubordination got out of control. Wentz needed to be forced to listen to the HC instead of whining to the owner.

I find that as a false narrative now if the story is true that Doug wanted Wentz.... I’d believe Wentz still wanted out but had nothing to do with Doug. If Wentz truly wanted out then he had no reason to get Doug fired.

Just like reports are saying he is talking to both Owner and Siri just not Howie.
Sounds like Howie was spinning the story to add fuel and reason to get Doug out the door likely another reason Wentz isn’t happy with him

PFF isn’t everything. I use a better metric...my eyes. He wasn’t that great. But I agree he’ll only get better. I’ve seen the great pancake block highlight. But there were other consistent bad times. Frankly it gets harder now. Teams have a nice chunk of film to analyze and pinpoint his areas of weakness. Especially our divisional enemies. So now he has to improve on his weaknesses. That’s the hardest hump to get over. Of coarse you have to recognize those areas to work to improve them. Good news is we got that far with him now. Dillard was universally considered a top twenty pick. Gotta give him a shot. Just a fair competition is all that’s needed. Dillard has seen what’s going on. He’s gotta know this is a pivotal season in his career.

But Mailata was in what his 3rd season as a pro. Idk Mailata should be the penciled starter with Dillard competing and the best man wins.

To me that rewards Mailata play all he has to do is fend off Dillard. Dillard only wins the job if he is clear cut the better player.

I always thought Pedey wanted to fix Wentz. That didn’t change anything. Some had the wrong point of view. He talked about the two of them tied together. But Wentz was complaining upstairs. Wasn’t taking any responsibility for blame in the film room. Pedey knows the kind of talent Wentz has if he could get him back under control. Wentz was benched. So he knows Pedey will bench him. Pedey needed the power to do his job. That wasn’t going to be great for Wentz point of view. So Lurie fired Pedey. To continue the coddling that’s been out of control for Wentz. Same thing they’ve been doing for Wentz the whole time.

Wentz can’t come back here because if his squeaky clean image is tarnished now. Not just by his terrible play. But the stories about him being a Primma Donna. Him getting people fired. Long(leadership roadblock) Jenkins(leadership roadblock), Groh, Welch(whoever the WR coach was), Pedey and Taylor. When he was benched he whined about wanting out if he’s the backup. Didn’t go over well with fans or teammates.

I think it should just be a straight head to head fair competition. Mailata has the experience advantage. Which for him is a first. I’d think  Mailata is likely the better run blocker while Dillard is probably the better pass blocker. At LT I lean more to the better pass blocker. Probably the most important position to pass block well at. Both players could use the experience of live action to grow and develop.

Frankly if Mailata shows improvement and Dillard shows he can start.....I’d be thinking about trading Lane. Got Driscoll that I thought showed really well at RT last season. Could be Dillard and Driscoll with Mailata the backup swing T. It would  Be moving on to the next age of this teams Oline. I’d be fine with that outcome.

Lmao again that doesn’t add up if Wentz went out of his way to get Doug fired why does he still want out no... He definitely didn’t want Taylor fired either.
Think Wentz and Doug were fine if there was this massive problem between the two then Doug wouldn’t have wanted to keep Wentz and fix him so that was a false narrative.
Players Wentz had nothing to do with Jenkins or Long just want to add more to blame him that seemed completely Howie.

No better logic suggests A. Wentz was right to say he had no interest in staying here as a backup why would he want to be here likely taken out of context. B. If he truly wanted out to begin with then he had no interests in Doug as coach. C. If he had problems with Doug then got him fired he would have no reason to want out now then he got what he wanted.

seems to me the problem is Howie and was Howie from the start

Some has to be the starter and it shouldn’t be Dillard he has proven nothing. Mailata we have at least seen and know. To me it has to be a clear win for Dillard to take the job in camp. Anything close I’d keep Mailata hence him being my penciled starter.

if we have preseason I’d rotate the starts. Get both guys reps with starters to see how they look

So the pressing question now is, does the DUDE cheerleader return? Also found TB's missing jock straps hidden in plain sight at 1/2 time🤣

I know, Baldinger really likes him. I think Mailata is going to be a BEAST.

That player was quoted as saying if Wentz could get the HC fired he can get any player axed as well. Not exactly an enduring locker room quality. I’m sure plenty of players liked Pedey.

  • Author

See No Mas doesn’t like that all the bad things about Wentz seem to come as anonymous sources. But doesn’t that just prove the power that Wentz wields in this organization?

  • Author

But there’s a hell of a lot of plays being called by Carson Wentz. And that play selection’s being done — well, for example, Doug may call a play. Carson doesn’t like it. And Carson will call his own play. Again, I don’t know the percentage of that, but if you watch that [Washington] game closely on TV, you’ll notice 11 making a lot of calls at the line of scrimmage and they are his calls. So when you turn around and you want to point a finger at Pederson, and play-calling, and things like that, it might be an idea to take that step back and take a broader look at who may actually be at fault here.

  • Author

He’s hearing from inside that QB room. This was reported right after the week one game.

And think about this: if you think about the many, many times that Doug Pederson would say: ‘Carson has to trust the offense. Carson has to trust the offense.’ Do you remember those times? And he said them many, many times.

this quote about postgame presses from Pedey

So now when you think back to Pedey at the postgame presser saying "Carson needs to trust the offense.” What do you think he means....or is really saying?
