I think it should just be a straight head to head fair competition. Mailata has the experience advantage. Which for him is a first. I’d think  Mailata is likely the better run blocker while Dillard is probably the better pass blocker. At LT I lean more to the better pass blocker. Probably the most important position to pass block well at. Both players could use the experience of live action to grow and develop.

Mailata has 3 years of football under his belt. Dillard has been playing football since he was  a kid. Not sure that translates more experience for Mailata. He had to learn from scratch, which takes time...

He has more NFL experience

Experience aside, I think it’s really quite simple ... allow them an open and honest competition in camp.  Whoever outplays the other earns the starting LT spot.  No?

Yes he does technically. He was drafted a year before Dillard. However, he had No NFL experience prior to the draft. I would think Dillard was more prepared when he was drafted than Mailata had learning the position for one year, no?

Sure but 3 years is a long time especially at the professional level as a job.

But the competition to me should stand as followed Mailata set as the starter Dillard as the backup. Best man wins. Anything close goes to Mailata.

Gives Dillard reason to strive push if he is dealt better it will show. Pushes Mailata to get better with likely a more refined pass protector behind him. Ultimately think it’s the best way to get the most from both guys.

I was a good bassist, I taught others to play. A few surpassed my skills in 2 years. Chronological time has nothing to do with accelerating your talent ceiling IMO

I'll buy that BG!  One thing for sure. Mailata is a beast run blocker. I saw some of the tape on him and he has a real mean streak in him!  Reminds me of Runyon......

I saw him(literally) pick up 350 pound lineman and throw them 5 yards. Still want ONE play where he is a FB and put a smile on his face letting him clock some people HAHA

I still would like to see if Dillard can play LOG. If so and Mailata wins the job outright we'd have a helluva BU for BOTH positions. Also maybe start teaching Dillard how to play ROT. Lane ain't gonna be around forever

So now when you think back to Pedey at the postgame presser saying "Carson needs to trust the offense.” What do you think he means....or is really saying?

LOL he didn't say OUR offense

That player was quoted as saying if Wentz could get the HC fired he can get any player axed as well. Not exactly an enduring locker room quality. I’m sure plenty of players liked Pedey.

Ped was pretty soft from what I see. Even when we were playing ok in previous years, how many games did we come out flatter than a steamrolled pancake? Then we'd come out and play 30(or maybe 20) the second 1/2? I specifically remember the Dullaz games at the Linc doing this. Team was built to play with a lead, but we always managed to get behind

Hearing a rumor that the Texans are in the game. I would do Wentz for Watson straight up.

I want the play to be called- MONGO. First and goal, hand off to Mailata. Give him the same play 3 times and he will score and maybe take a few D linemen out in the process

I give the Colts D the nod. The have cap space. But I don’t see anything grand about going there personnel wise on offense. Pretty middling.

best o-line in football.

I agree. But I think it might come down to Dillard better pass blocking and Mailata better run blocking. So then what do you do at LT?

You go with the better pass blocker because that's the more important aspect of the game.

How many games did Mailata play in this season? Seemed like he was in most of them.

I like Driscoll....or maybe even Mailata at RT. But Driscoll looked like he could handle the job. Maybe some of the best Oline weeks this season were with Driscoll at RT.

Happens when you don’t stop anyone and don’t score yourself.

Two firsts,  Wentz and Ertz
